    Giiiiirrrrrrrllllllll YESSSSS! 🙌🙌🙌
When you said @27:56 that previously you wouldn’t have done such a trivial thing as popping into the post office… I got it. I totally totally got it and an able-bodied person just will *not* understand that.
Ever since my spinal cord injury I’ve always just transferred into the car, dismantling & stowing my manual chair myself (vid on my channel) but as I’ve become more unwell, culminating in an extensive blood clot in my arm and neck I just can’t manage that anymore. Every transfer in and out the car was murder and it meant I just didn’t go out if I didn’t absolutely have to, So I also needed to look for a WAV.
Long long lonnnnng story short (it’s sadly a similar saga to you getting Boots!) and I’ve had Baxter the 2011 VW Bus with an UVL cassette lift for about 3 months now and he’s been absolutely life changing.
I’m flat out broke, but it’s been so so so worth it.
I hope you have a bazillion awesome miles Boots, you so deserve it 🫶🏻

WHAT A SERIES!! So proud of you girl! I 100% believe they put all the red tape so you'll give up and they don't have to pay out. I've witnessed it myself here in Canada. I'm just on the other side of the border.
I found your videos because of the wheelchair van tour short. I've been using a manual chair for 8 years. My vehicle is turning 16 this fall and I'm looking into my options. It's taken me awhile to admit I WANT a power chair/van even if I don't technically NEED it. However the manual chair is doing nothing for me because I can't do errands independently.
Thank you SO much for making this video!! I thought a car/travel size chair with a lift would be a good option for me. As soon as I saw you complaining about putting the chair into the back and in comparison how easy it was with the van... decision made.

WOW i watched all 3 videos... And girl let me tell you i am pooped just hearing all of the set backs you had to go threw to get your van. Glad you finally got it though!!! Congrats. but i do have a question. Did all of those services pay for your entire van + the equipment needed for you? If not how much did you have to pay? the only reason why i am asking is because where i live Okla they act like they don't want to pay for even half of someone's vehicle .

Michigan voc rehab only paid for the adaptations on the van, so the $60k ish of the ramp conversion, the hand controls, etc. and then we paid for the full cost of the base vehicle. How much that would be will depend on what kind of van you get (used vs new, make, model, things like that). Each state has its own policies, and each case is different, so if you're having issues getting an adapted vehicle supported, I would contact your state's Client Assistance Program. They will know the regulations and will be able to help you navigate the VR process and advocate for you.
