TJ’s dad here. Thanks to y’all for making my day , with the conversation about the anemones and starting of the club. I always encouraged her to see and think broadly. So proud and happy.

wherever you locate your calcium react to the tank, will need to be in close proximity as there is not enough pressure to keep stable flow of CO2 to your reactor. I tried to also do this putting my tank in the basement up to the first floor, where the tank is located and the bubbles were very erratic and gases flowed in lump sum when the solenoid turned on.

With the external filtered aquarium would there be any benefit by insulating the pipes to and from the sump? If it’s a long run the pipes would work like a heat exchanger so insulating could add some more stability.

I thinik that is a hard road to make work - you kinda need to insulate everthing to realize savings. So instead I have gone with putting a heater in each box of water.
Anecdotally, most of the time, the tanks that are farthest from the sump are only a degree or two below the sump temp. I am hoping to turn those heaters off soon to see the reality.
That said, insulating the pipes is pretty cheamp and easy, but that said, pvc doesn't conduct heat very well so moving water may be fine in terms of insulation

@ yes pvc does not conduct heat that well, but if I remember correctly, flowing water does loose more heat over distance than just having a sheet of pvc to separate areas. If there isn’t a lot of plumbing then insulating would probably be irrelevant

I thank Neptune for drowning on our behalf.
I could never forgive myself for all the algae blooms and aptasia in my display with our savior.

Luv u guys! I appreciate the kudos. Yes, Randy was my first guest and guinea pig. Fact check, I did just over 200 episodes, not 400. I think I would have had a lot of AI guests if I did another 200 episodes 🤣
