Your bad review is because of YOUR lack of ability to use this device correctly. These things are awesome if you use them right. Try reading the instructions and buy a good one, not a cheap one.
    1. If you buy a cheap plastic one of course it's not going to be too good. It's foolish to buy cheap junk and expect it to be good.
    2. It's easy to hear you placed it on incorrectly. If the guitar is damaged it's because of how YOU incorrectly put it on. And again..YOU chose to bought a cheap plastic one
    3. You can play in any tuning without a gadget like this. Use the tuning keys and tune the strings.
    4. These spider capo's only take a second or 2 to put on if you know wtf you're doing and it's not that hard. Read the instructions.
We really need a site like youtube where garbage like this video gets removed. The internet is a landfill anymore and that is because of content like this.

Judging by the frame at 1:32, it looks like the ‘teeth’ are on backwards. Unscrew the top and flip them round the other way, as per the original spider capo. That’s probably why you were getting that gash sound.
Also, the genuine spider capo has a little leather buffer at each point that attaches to the neck - I’ve used spider capos for the last 8 years and never once had damage to the guitar.
Unfortunately buying the cheap version has not paid off and makes for an unfair review of a great product.

I just got mine and I agree. Plus, the part where the string is out of tune, if it's that bad, it's not the capo, it's the guitar or the string.

The real spider capos are supposed to have leather to protect the guitar. I bought the cheap aliexpress spider capo too. They certainly are sketchy but I don’t think they represent the real thing. I bought 2 of them to do more complicated chords. I’ve seen a video where a guy uses 6 of them.
Wouldnt say they a crap, but the quality is questionable on the knock offs.

I have something like this, but it looks a lot more user friendly. I put it on a guitar with Drop D, fifth fret, and set it so the bottom two strings are still open. Can get some cool chords.

Why didn't you just pony up for the original one
I received mine today and it's great.

I respectfully disagree with the end statement. Check out just about any solo fingerstyle artist from the last 15-20 years. Sometimes every song on an album will have a different tuning and capo configuration. In many cases the chord voicings are impossible to achieve without an alternate tuning + partial capoing. They are definitely more of a hassle than something like a Kyser quick change, but they do fill a niche.
I can't think of anything less convenient or cost effective than purchasing a different instrument for each tuning. Even if money is no object, the time spent maintaining each instrument greatly outweighs the time it takes to set a Spider capo.
