In 1997 I was 17 and took a trip to Austin TX where I found an original 1963 firebird III in a pawn shop and bought it for $800, got a bluesbreaker reissue combo on the same trip. I had the firebird authenticated by Gruhn guitars and later sold it to them. I have been a firebird fan ever since but the modern ones just didn't do it for me but these seam to be what I've been looking for I had my sights set on a murphy lab SG but the firebird will be my target now thanks for sharing!

I have your exact guitar with the Vintage Sunburst finish and it is so much better than the USA version. The banjo tuners are way better quality than the ones for the USA guitars. Custom Shop Gibsons are the only way to go IMO.

It has murphy lab “patina” its very light but, yeah man CS is another level. USA production is fine, I have many, and play them the most because they are cheaper I dont cry about wear, but any CS it going to be a completely different animal. That's a sweet Firebird, Crunchers delight! a little Zep "For Your Life" too. I went on a simular route to yours
before. Except it was 10 guitars I had to sell for one. The dream was to get either a Gibson Custom Shop
R8, R9, or R0 Gibson Les Paul Standard. I wanted to be okay for all the years Jimmy Page filled my ears
with his 59' But after trying all of them, The winner was the R8!! so not a Jimmy Page but a Mick Taylor.
My other childhood hero. The R0 didn't do it for me slim necks just don't do it for me. Go figure that one out, I'm only 5ft 7 on a good day with medium sized hands. Fast forward my R8 is my number one and I've owned many Les Pauls. Am I sad to sell the 10 guitars for it? NO WAY! Next baby will be an ES-335 USA or Custom Shop. PS:
I still own 12 guitars lol. I'm not crying because I still own the Mirror and Dragon Jimmy Page Tele's.

I’ve always thought that Firebirds are super cool, especially the 1’s! Not that I’ve ever played one, lol! They just seem like a unique beast. Oddly, I’ve swung over to a fascination with the Korina Explorers instead when it comes to radical offset shapes. But again, just theoretical and based on aesthetics. I haven’t played a Korina Explorer either. They are not top shelf guitars, but I’m fortunate to have 3 modest guitars that have some intrinsic value. If I practically gutted other players in my collection as well, maybe I’d be on my way to a Murphy Lab. My instruments though have much more value to me I know than anyone else. They have ‘origin’ stories and every one of them I have labored over to improve and modify. Their resale value may not be super high, but my TLC has made them comfortable, unique and responsive instruments to play. Is it audacious to say that many regular folks do their own MurphyLab on their own guitars? I don’t have the best pickups or the most desirable models, but they have rolled fretboards, sanded necks, specialized finish work, ever refined set ups. But maybe if I played a real ML Firebird, I’d pack ‘em all up and forget the past. Maybe ML’s are that good.

That's a great sounding and looking guitar. Not at the same caliber but I have the Epiphone Slash firebird and I play it more than the Epi Slash LP.
But back to this video, it feels like reading a book where the last page is missing....what where the other five you had to sell.

I already had a craving now I can’t stand it. Got to get one.
