I got my customized machete today brother and I ABSOLUTELY LOVE IT!!!❤️sheath , grip is amazing!, all of it! It’ll be along my side a lot that’s for sure cause I’m a trucker. My neighbor downstairs is going to be super jealous and love it also! lol. Thanks again so much brother. Great craftsmanship. Now I need to get some on three stickers , wazoo and survival dispatch stickers and couple stoked stickers too lol.

Step 1. Water storage, (5) cases of water and (6) 5gallon water bottles for the water cooler. I went with a water delivery service and have a gravity fed dispenser 👍 (55 gallons)
Step 2. Capture water from the system, I have a 33gallon tote with lid that fits in my tub, and a 32gallon garbage can that fits in my walk in shower 🛀 I can start filling and go work on something else. I have (5) 1gallon water jugs that I will fill + I fill any of the 5gallon bottles that may be empty. (90 gallons) Total=(145gal)
Step 3. Water alternatives, body wipes, hand wipes, baby wipes, hand sanitizer, paper towels - all help you stretch your drinking water. Learn how backpackers clean up themselves and their dishes and you will realize how much water we waste.
Step 4. Alternative toilet 🚽, we have a camping toilet that uses bags and Cedar chips. Best to separate urine and solids, urine can be diluted and used as fertilizer. “ humanure” is also thing and possible option in longer term grid down event.
Step 5. Learn as much as you can about water procurement, Identify all local freshwater sources and then practice it. I also recommend getting some water filtration options. I’m a fan of Sawer it’s robust, used all over the world but has a learning curve. Grail is pretty much idiot proof and taste better but will need a lot of extra fillers $$$ for the same number of gallons. I made a DYI carbon ceramic gravity filter for under $100 but do your own research filter manufactures is a rabbit hole all it’s own 🕳️ (I also want to add that chemicals are the hardest thing to remove from a water source and the more urban your environment is the more likely you will have to deal with chemicals)
I am not an expert but my plan is to dig a “Coyote Well” next to the water source in a yard that doesn’t use a chemical treatment and then filter that water through a carbon filter.
Step 6. Rain water catchment, lots of options here but I went with pvc garbage cans, for $20 each + 1 roll of screen repair tape you can have as many 33 gallon rain cans as you want. They store easily when not in use and rain procurement can be increased by simply adding a tarp for more surface area. Just flip the lid over drill some holes and cover with screen repair tape to keep the bugs out. I can roll them out of the garage capture water then role them back into the garage.
Step 7. Get a shallow well, we added a shallow well for our sprinkler system. This option is last due to cost and other complications. I do have the ability to add a hand pump if I run out of power generation options. Note: shallow wells are susceptible to contamination which is why filtration options are step 5.
I live in Hurricane country and this is what I chose to do for my preparedness, my neighborhood has more than one fresh water source available and being Florida there are some homes with pools that could be used for rain catchment. If something should happen my 8th step is to start checking on the neighbors because I may not be able to keep them fed but if I’ve done my math right we shouldn’t lose anyone to dehydration and hopefully not 🦠🤢 either 😬 note I have identified a truck in the neighborhood that services pools he always has pool shock in 5 gallon buckets. We don’t have to buy everything to be prepared just keep your eyes and mind open to possible solutions 👊❤👍

Just found your channel and need your advice. I’m a single gal who’s been prepping for years and years. I have my own business, have no debt, tons of food, I can and dehydrate food, have multiple sources of heat, generator, solar oven, fans, etc. I always have pepper spray and my 9mm. What do you consider to be the most important thing for someone like me who will have to rely on myself in a SHTF situation? Thanks guys!

What’s extremely important is getting involved with a like minded community. If you can’t find it then form it.

I think if you live in a suburb area the only water you will have is what you have stored no way around the same concept the best knife is the one you keep on you

Just my opinion but I think some people are don’t prep because it would make them face reality but what they don’t understand is that they actually prep already in their daily lives with just basic essentials and day to day tasks they need to understand by not preparing for their family they are failing as a provider

Not just beginners but people who might be much older or with limited physical ability. Also for people who aren't homesteading.
I noticed a lot of prepping videos lately are based off homesteading.
