In this episode of "Figures In Action": Finally get to create a dio for my homie BoogNice. Check out his channel as he is one of the best at ACBA. / boognice10
Really beautiful piece. This is a big inspiration for my upcoming Batman stop motion where I'll be building a huge Gotham alleyway using your techniques
...this is ABSOLUTELY fantastic! i love how you're one of the top diostructure artists and you're geeked that Boog-Nice founder of ACBA commissioned you for work. the respect, the love, and the fact that you're sharing the work that you've done with the rest of us who are aspiring to improve and doing this very same thing! on the strenff, thanks!
Thank you very much for your words... deff excited to rock something out for Boog as I know him personally. I still get excited about working on these in general... which helps me in feeling like I'm NOT a top artist. I feel so many are better but that helps drive me to keep re-inventing these dio's.... making them better, more versatile. And man... sharing is caring! Lol
Really great work as always Al. That skylight and entry/exit on the rooftop are great, really love how you incorporated so much into one piece. Always cool to see things like ladders and stuff too, adds to the realism. Awesome work, I can imagine the types of shots Boog's gonna take with this one!
One of your best dios yet! Before watching this video, I didn't know the water tower was pre-fab! What are they made of and where can you order these from? How did you find working with them?
Great work! You have a great eye for detail, and I see a love of inner city/industrial spaces. Great technique in using foam and adding detail to it capped off by outstanding painting technique. You don't overuse dry brushing like some people (like me) do. Great channel, great videos. Thank you for sharing.
I absolutely love your work. It makes me want to get some foam board and try some stuff out myself but living in NYC limits me to space. I would love to see what some of your dioramas would look like wired up with some lighting effects. Have you ever thought about opening up an Etsy store?
Hey man, this is by far the most impressive of your dioramas I've ever seen. I've been watching all of your videos, but I couldn't find any mention of how you made that style of skylight, and in this video you don't really mention how you did it. I know you're using vellum paper and Balsawood, but what was the technique you specifically used to get that vaulted look? I'm guessing you cut the angles in the paper after a lot of precise measurements, and then just put down the wood frame to help disguise the joints?
Looks great
