I actually had no idea your food should be elevated on a rack! The rack was gone when we bought our RV. That seems so obvious and certainly make so much sense! Thanks for posting this short little video!
Thank you for this vudeo. We are camping in our fifth wheel for 2 months and I really wanted to start using the convection part of my microwave oven but frankly was intimidated by it. You have given me courage to try something new! Thanks for making it not so scary and helping me understand how it works.
Glad to watch the show. My dad bought us a Microwave/convection oven, but in a house with a gas oven. We are just used to the big big.
Great video! Just bought an rv with a convection microwave only. Can't wait to try it.
Thanks for the video! Cooking in this convection microwave oven has always given me the heebie-jeebies (i.e., metal in microwave fears) and because of your video I feel more confident now!
Totally understand!! Once I read up on how they work though, it’s totally safe! Just a mini oven lol. I use it more than our regular oven now 👍🏼
Just what we needed to hear, thanks. We almost didn't purchase our rv because it didn't have a conventional oven. Looking forward to cookies soon.
Thanks for the video. We were debating if not having a regular oven would be a challenge. But I will try it.
I’m going to use my Convection micro now more....Thanks !!
I loved the power thumbs up. Thank you for the video, looking to upgrade our camper microwave to a convection microwave.
We live in an RV and I was looking for someone who was RV living, thanks for the video I'm a newbie at this.
Thank you for this vid, I'm new to the RV life and also using the convection microwave so i appreciate this vid😊
Welcome to the RV Gang! We're glad you found it useful! 😊
Thanks for the easy-to-follow tutorial on the microwave /convection oven. I was a little afraid of the oven to start but after watching your simple and easy to follow process I am ready to bake. Thanks again!
Glad it was helpful!
Thanks! Great info!
Great video!!!
thank you so much for this video!!! I have been going in circles trying to figure out if a convection oven was enough of an "oven" to bake or cook in as I don't have any experience with one. Thank you again!
You are so welcome! Glad it helped!
Make sure your vent on the outside of your rig is open - it has a tab to lock closed so make sure it’s in the open position…😊
Thanks, I can't wait to try it out. I am one of those that uses a toaster oven because I never took the time to read the instructions.
Hi there! Let me know how it goes when you do try it out. It's a handy tool to have in your rig and the food possibilities are endless! (as long as it fits though lol).
Thank you so much. I need this!!
Yay! Glad it was helpful! Keep cookin! 👩🍳
I was so worried about using my Convection Oven in our Motorhome, you've put me at ease now! Thanks!
That's so great to hear, Joyce! Good luck on your first recipe with your convection oven!
Thanks so much for this video!!
You’re very welcome! We’re glad you found it helpful.
Thank you!
Thank you!!
Great intro but make sure to mention that it is HOT!!!! Just like an oven.
Thanks for the tip!
Do you leave the glass plate in when baking or remove?
well done. It was short and to the point like a RUclips video should be!
Thank you!
thanks, we feel more confident about using ours now.
That's what I love to hear! Let me know what you make :)
Merry Christmas! We use our convection microwave a lot! We even made sure we bought one for our stick/brick summer home when we remodeled the kitchen. Our favorite for the RV is blueberry muffins. Thanks for sharing.
Merry Christmas to you as well! I’m so glad I started using mine, the possibilities are endless! Blueberry muffins sound so good 😋
Thanks 😊
I can't wait to try cooking with the convection microwave oven. Thank you for the video!
Nice job
Thank you! Cheers!
I think I am confident enough to try! yay~ Now, let's see..... ;)
I'll gladly take a couple dozen... LOL,LOL... Merry Christmas kiddos. I pray y'all are blessed beyond measure... BBE..
haha, you got it! 😉 Merry Christmas to you and your family as well!!
Simple Enough...
Very cool :) I didn’t know that a convection oven could be combined with a microwave oven. Technology high! ;) Thanks for sharing the video :) Can I place an order for some cookies? ;)
thank you! I have one in my house that I'm afraid to use! Imagine I need to remove the glass tray and plastic holder before using?
I’ve just taken mine out because I’m not sure what temperature that plastic ring can take.
Hi,
Is that a high point oven? If it is I have the same one and I am going to be giving it a try soon.
Got any more videos on any other features??
Thanx in advance
Thank you for the video! I use my convection microwave with the shelf and it seems to cook on the back left corner faster than anywhere else. Is this typical?
I used mine too cook chicken wings.they were great😊
Do I need to adjust the time from a regular oven recipe to the convection oven? I mean I’d the time less due to the convection feature?
My wife and I have a big convection / microwave oven but we just can't seem to get the hang of cooking and microwave. Your intro was so helpful. Please could you do more demonstrations
I have had some trial and error with it. Sure, I can definitely do another videos with the additional tips I've discovered. Is there anything specific you'd like covered? For this topic or any other? Thanks so much for the feedback!
Getaway Couple it's how to set heat and types of food that o OK well in a convection oven
I'm nervous about what types of cookware to use in it. Obviously no metal when microwaving, but while using the convection oven??? Metal Cake pans, cookie sheet, glass, ceramic????
Thank you so what about parchment paper ? I just got my oven.
If it's on full convection setting yes, you can use parchment paper. When it's in convection mode, you can follow the same rules you would as your regular oven. Good luck!
Great
Thank you!
Do you have any special recipes you do in your CO
Does it heat up the kitchen like an oven does?
Ty. I am idiot but less so after this video. Appreciate it!!
Do you use the little rack while cooking meat in the round pan
I am an RV greenhorn, but love to bake. This question may seem silly to all you longtimers out there but....my husband and I bought a used RV and the instructions for our convection/microwave is missing. When using the convection, do you remove the microwave glass turntable and round turn part? Or do you keep it in and just set your baking goods on the shelf thing and not worry about the glass microwave stuff?
Personally, I leave the turntable glass and tool there but you can always google your make/model to see if it's okay. I do believe they make them to withstand the heat but no harm in double checking! Good luck :)
I am guessing that you should take the Turning mechanism and the platter out when using convection. But no one says that so hopefully I'm not going to burn anything up. But I'm not sure if it's designed to take those temperatures. I'm thinking if it's plastic it will not hold up if the wheels and turntable are Bakelite then it should be okay but how do you know?
basic question. The round glass tray and the ring below it, does that stay in or come out when you use it like a convection oven? Basically what gets removed for convection vs microwave? You think they would spell that out somewhere in instructions.
You would think! I’ve just taken mine out because I’m not sure what temperature that plastic ring can take.
This is my exact fear of using my microwave convection. I’m so scared I’m going to melt something. Haha
Thanks for sharing.
Please help me to solve below
1. The temperature is from 100 to 200 by adding 10 each time, how to reduce 25?
2. Is it must put a wire stand on it when baking?
3. If I follow the normal oven cakes recipe, how to adjust the time and heat. Because the cake or bread turn black very fast like burnt.
4. My microwave conv is from Korea, DAEWOO KOC-970T, bought more than 10 years but don’t know how to use.
Thanks
Caution!!! Make sure you change the settings to convection when using meta. Thanks for the video I didn’t change settings and started a quick fire.
Thanks for this. I now decided to go simpler and not buy microwave with this option as it can be risky with kids or guests to use wrong setting like metal in microwave or plastic and paper in convection. We already have a bake oven so a simple microwave is what I bought!
What is the brand of your oven.
I am looking to buy one combo.
Have you ever made a meatloaf using the convection setting? And I know to lower the temperature but how do I start guessing the time?
We haven't made meatloaf! I'd recommend cutting your total time by 10-15 minutes to check on it, then add time as needed. That's how I test all new recipes in the convection setting.
Can I put aluminum foil in KitchenAid KMBP100ESS it comes with metal tray😇
My Convection Micro wave has a turntable, no rack. When I put on convection, it immediately started turning. How do I use? Can a metal pan be used?
Sounds like it wasn't on convection mode...?
Mine has a button to turn the turntable off.
Thank you so much for clarifying that any oven-safe cookware can be used in the convection/microwave oven when using the convection function. The manual for my oven just says not to use metal in the microwave. 🙄
lol yeah the instructions aren't too clear, right? Glad this helped!
Even after 4yrs of posting this, I find it now. Now I’ll start making pizza and other baked goods here in the barracks! (Since the army doesn’t allow us ovens lol)
How do you set the timer
What about meals or items wrapped in foil or cooking on parchment paper? That's the biggest questions I have.
When it's on the convection setting, it's just like an oven. So any items you would put in your regular oven can go in your convection. Just make sure it is NOT on the microwave or combi setting when you're using foil or paper.
@@GetawayCouple thank you so much. I was really wondering cause I love to bake pies, cakes, etc
What about using other baking pans like a broiler pan, the racks my microwave/convection oven came with are not good for every cooking situation. You said only use the racks it came with??
G. H. Nairn Best bet is to use something that will work both in a microwave and an oven. Like ceramic or glass. Those materials should be safe on any microwave setting or combination you use.
Many questions not answered. Did you keep the glass for microwave in there. Does your cook pan have to be able to turn? That size seemed like it wouldn’t. My oven turns just the the microwave setting. Still unsure.
You are able to keep the glass in there, which I do. And you won't put your pan on the glass plate, you'll put it on the removable shelf, that way the heat is able to have proper air flow around your pan in the convection setting.
I have the same microwave what is the Combi button for? When would you use that?
Google the manufacture 's customer support number and/ or the owners manual for your model. Cheers
u use it when u want it front and back......a combi..... ...…..lolz,,,, just kdng hun…..
How do you know when it's done pre heating?
I'm desperate! I used to feel safe leaving my door and windows open while baking. I'd say "let's circulate" and they already knew. Sadly I wouldn't risk it now. Wow I can't believe I'm saying this😔
Anyway I'm going to give this a try and I'd like to come back and share with you my experience. I have a Dacor unit and it's always felt too fancy for this 90's chick😉😄
You got this!
Does the turn table move when using the convection setting?
It does but your food should be on the rack above it.
So you lower the temp 25* in general and then bake things the same amount of time?
Yes! You can cut the baking time by 5 minutes if you're just starting to use your microwave to get a feel for how it cooks.
How can you use combo. Both at once. I am scared I will mess up.
Combo... no metal,,, no plastic... only glass???
Any idea how to dehydrate fruit,I.e. mango in the convection oven. I don’t have any racks for my microwave convection oven...is it possible. It’s GE Profile
somo ghoto Set the convection oven to around 100°F to 130°F you don’t need a wire rack. Use something like a oven safe ceramic plate with little to no edge. (For best airflow) then dehydrate away! Time and temperature will vary depending on the foods etc.
Thanks, couldn't understand the dang manual......🌼
You’re welcome! Glad it helped 😊
Quick Question. In General, Which Uses More Electricity, Convection Oven Or Standard Oven?
Mickey Mouse
Was wonderin’ the same thing
Like the idea of not microwaving but not heating the whole house to get the healthier results
for the exact same food, cooked at the same "target" temperature - the convection would use less electricity (though not a significant amount less). 1. the convection actually cooks on a lower temp and usually for shorter amount of time (it's the circulating fan that makes it cook faster and with less overall energy - the fan doesn't use much). 2. the convection oven is usually smaller (so easier/quicker/more efficient to heat).
Do you switch off the turntable in the microwave convection oven?
It’s okay if it rotates while on the convection setting, I don’t think you can turn that off.
Great video, but I can't seem to set the timer once the oven is running. What am I doing wrong?
I have the same problem
Was given a Samsung convection microwave several years ago & have only used the microwave for cooking veg & reheating. Now i want to use the convection part but don't know what the various signs are for as I didn't get the accompanying instruction manual. The model is a Samsung TRIO have tried googling the full name with not much luck. If i knew what the signs meant i could possibly work it out. Have been too scared to switch it on with nothing in the oven. One of the signs has 4 blades. Another is a thick undulating wave (just to name 2 signs as an example)
If it has a model number on the sticker on the back or underneath, I would google it with that model number.
@@GetawayCouple Thank you
How should I know when it’s done pre heating?
When I set mine to preheat, it beeps when it’s ready so I’ve never paid attention how long it takes to heat up. Maybe 10 minutes?
Can I make Cannabis cookies in this bad boy? ;-)
Are breads chewy like regular microwave?
No it cooks like an oven.
How do you know when the convection microwave is preheated?
Mine has a little lights on the screen that go from left to right, when the bar is full it beeps to let me know it's preheated.
@@GetawayCouple that makes sense...I didn't know what all the lights meant. So is the fan supposed to kick on after its preheated?
Can you use aluminum pans in this oven? I was wanting to be frugal and use a small aluminum pan to bake a lasagna.
Yes! I do more often than not now actually lol. Anything you can use in your regular oven, you can use in this when it's on the convection setting 👍
Thank you
My convection oven said aluminum pans with 3/4” tall sides or shorter were okay as long as they didn’t touch any of the walls or sides of the convection oven. Can you use any other standard metal type pans, aluminum and glass oven proof bakeware pans besides the paper and wood that you mentioned?
Can you toast a piece of bread?
For how long we should preheat the oven?
When I set mine to preheat, it beeps when it’s ready so I’ve never paid attention how long it takes to heat up. Maybe 10 minutes?
@@GetawayCouple for my oven the beep is after 5 minutes
My convection microwave did not come with shelving or shelves. It looks like a regular microwave with a convection setting. Can anyone tell me how to use convection with the turntable?
Hmm… the shelves help with the air flow around the cooking food. You should give it a try with the plate then and see how that works. Good luck!
When did you set the timer?
I would eat those 6 cookies in 6 seconds.
Ummm, you didn’t show how to use the actual cooking part, only the preheat
When I saw this tiny box I said no way
It actually works great.
You didn’t really show how to use oven.
