Thanks to everyone who took the time to leave such positive comments. I'm hoping this video/song will encourage more people to not only think about the concept of choosing wisely but also push people into action - and also make you happy just listening to the song. Liam and Shae did a tremendous job with the vocals.

I love it. Great song and great lyrics. We all should be aware our health and choose wisely what is good for us. I agree. I work in medical field and I agree that sometimes less means more.

All GP surgeries and hospital outpatient waiting rooms should show this video on a continuous loop. It's so good.

+Peter Trewby But if they did that, how would they pay for all the latest and most expensive medical equipment to brag about how they have the best diagnostic machines, etc. in their area of the country? How would the surgeons pay for their third home in Vail, CO.

James McCormack I teach (clinical) pharmacology and more often than not I find myself talking about polypharmacy, EBM or just common sense that often seems to be missing in modern medicine. I have seen too many patients being literally drugged to death by 20 or more well-meant prescriptions that I consider it one of our main goals to teach the next generation of doctors more about when NOT to prescribe, when to STOP medication and to ALWAYS talk to their patients. :)

    Italian translation of Choosing Wisely.
Bene, io mi prendo realmente cura di me, quindi stai tranquillo
Vogliamo (saggiamente) tenervi liberi dai danni
Io voglio (saggiamente, saggiamente, saggiamente) liberarvi dai danni
    Saggiamente, saggiamente, saggiamente

Great video! Do you work with the ABIM Foundation's Choosing Wisely initiative on this?

    • @JamesMcCormack
      @JamesMcCormack  10 лет назад +1

Thanks - glad you enjoyed it - no I don't work for ABIM - I showed them a draft a week or so before I put it out - you'll notice that their logos aren't on it and the "choosing wiselys" are all in lower case - obviously I "stole" a number of their messages - and added a number of my own. The Initiative Choosing Wisely is very important but the concept choosing wisely is the bottom common sense line.

I think, in the (western) health care system, there are only GP who are working for health instead of collecting diagnoses....

    Splendido.

The doctors that are involved in the Choose Wisely Campaign of planting stories that are designed to interfere with the critical health decisions of doctors and patients by promoting fear and distrust of the medical profession and its technology in patients and limiting doctors from choosing advanced technology to diagnose and treat patients symptoms because of cost are in direct violation of the oath that they took when they became a doctor.
