    This is exactly what happens when the customer's idea of "maintenance" is call the tech, preferably on the weekend once the unit falls apart.

      This is also what happens when a business owner doesn't budget for proper maintenance or replacement units knowing full well they're beating on 15 year old equipment 😂

    Gotta love the no heat calls when the wind chill is -30*f with snow and you’re on a flat roof. Love the content, makes for a great end to a bad day.

    You should get into pharmaceutical HVAC, some of it's maintenance, ac units, chillers, old / modern ahus, balancing cleanrooms, labs, some c+q, some design consultation, some qualification work on lab stuff, gloveboxes, msc's and whatnot. I'm quite like you, I get bored easily. There's enough variety in what I do to not get bored, so far anyway. Got bored with architecture, got bored of being broke being a barista, pro or otherwise there's no money in it, but this so far is interesting. There'd be less electronics involved which I would like more of but so far Im happy. 6 years in it's the longest career I've had so far.

    I worked on this exact same style of model yesterday. Almost the same issue with only lighting across the first few burners and stopping. Mine ended up having a capacitor directly above them pop and leak it's gel all over the center couple burners and the gel blocked off the burners. Lol

    I work on tons of those lennox units. I keep a box cutter knife with me as they work great to clear the cross over fins and allow the gas to run all the way to the last burner. Good call on the ignition module. Those old blue boxes are junk. And on the note of the testo manometer, I had a terrible time with my drifting off to infinity. Had to return it. Still have the old UEI EM152. It seems to just keep on going.

    Not only did they mess up the shut off valve location but that drip leg is ineffective. They should’ve put it in place of the elbow at the change of direction.

    What is the reasoning behind not using copper for gas in the USA? Is it some protectionist policy to give steel workers jobs?

    • @HVACRSurvival
      @HVACRSurvival  10 месяцев назад

      Natural gas will make the copper plate and flake then that gets in the gas valve and can causes a potential catastrophic failure. Copper can only use on liquid propane.

    • @BrickTop900
      @BrickTop900 10 месяцев назад

      This is very interesting as we pretty much only use copper for commercial gas - high rise installs may be 6” + and it’s pretty common on old residential installs with no issues - these have mostly moved to multilayer pex.
