  • Chlorophyll in our bloodstream after eating greens may react with wavelengths of sunlight that penetrate through our skin to reactivate the antioxidant Coenzyme Q10 (ubiquinol).

Clyde Rembrandt On hotdogs at Woodstock, that generation only knew what they'd been taught; I was a youngster back then. "We need to eat meat for protein" and all meat was basically equal (except human) in cultural teachings. "I fed my own kids hotdogs" - now I am mostly vegan and eat no meat. I had to research food sources and information before I chose this path... and I grew up on beef farm. 'Hippies' is a broad definition; my school, if a boy had hair that touched his shirt collar, he was kicked out until he got it cut. Girls were not allowed to wear pants to school until I was in high school and the kids challenged the dress code (dresses had to touch the chair when kneeling on it, or the teach would tear the hem out; if it was still too short, the girl was sent home). Possibly the over-control in society helped produce a more extreme 'no control' generational response. But that's gotten away from hotdogs, sorry!

    • @Jefferdaughter

And eat animals that eat green plants - not factory farmed animals raised indoors (like nearly all commercial chickens and pork, and many turkeys) - and fed a diet of mostly GMO corn and soy. Even most industrial dairy cattle are fed such an artificial diet heavy in grains and soy which they were not really designed to eat. And while most American beef is born and raised on pasture, it is 'finished' on grains and soy in feedlots. This disconnection from their natural relationship with the land - their grazing, saliva, hoof action, manure and urine all feeds and stimulated plants and the soil food web - results in nutrient deficient land, animals, and humans. If someone does not want to eat animals, that's their choice, of course, but my ancestors have been eating meat since they were human... and dairy almost as long - all raised outdoors, in the sunshine, eating PLANTS. (Well, the chickens and hogs were eating meat, too...)

Why don't vegans get it already! Just stop shoving your so called lifestyle down people's throat! Everything in moderation. Plain and simple. Besides, if people want to die at 50 from a heart attack and live an unhealthy lifestyle then that's their choice! If people want to be informed and try to live healthy that is also their choice. Isn't that what you liberals preach? Just eat your plants and be quiet!

Ask the Doctor submission: Thanks to Dr. Greger's books, I am beginning to break my sugar addiction! However, several times a year I do baking. Date sugar is not always available to me. How do you feel about conventional refined white sugar vs. organic unrefined white sugar? Is there a push to go with a sugar that is not refined? Also, what are your general thoughts on coconut palm sugar? I've been hearing that this is a healthy, natural sweetener. This product is expensive though. Thank you for considering my question.

Ok, i don't like raw kale but i'm sowing extra so i can eat the young, tender stuff. That's mildly palatable at least. Thank goodness the frosts are gone. My balcony is full of young greens again, in case i can't make it to my vegetable allotment. I call it my grazing meadow, lol. Spinach, cilantro, mizuna, that spicey stuff they put in lettuce mix, forgot, all the usual kitchen herbs and pak choi. (lettuce is a waste of space, there isn't much in it) in case you wanted to know what's easy and quick to grow on a balcony. Do yourselves a favour. Search the word 'allotment' and find all of us growing veggies with a no frills, high yield approach. 6 euros a pound? how about .... grow your own!

Great study! This may sound a bit out there for some but definitely interesting to ponder... I remember Dolores Cannon mentioned years ago that eventually our society would have a shift in consciousness and literally transition into a higher state of vibration or "dimension" and begin to eat more light-based foods (plants) because it is naturally lighter on our bodies thus eases the transitioning (meat is a 3rd dimension energy source and very heavy), and that our ultimate end-goal of evolution would be to become a purely light-based species that ingests the suns energy as our main source of nutrient as it is part of our design... another interesting thought is that this could be through light-based technologies that easily allow for this and/or physical evolution.

Supplement with Chlorella, Its the highest form of natural chlorophyll you can consume and extremely good for you.
      I pair mine with Spirulina.

so, kind of related to this topic, I inherited a bottle of Ubiquinol COQH-CF by "Now Foods" (a very common supplement manufacturer). I eat WFPB, but not quite enough leafy greens some weeks. Is there a downside to taking these 50mg softgels?
They have a "Best Buy" of 6/24. I really can't give them away to anyone who would want them -- is taking them better than throwing them out?

There are a lot of problems with industrial food animal production and processing. One of them includes the fact that animas raised in confinement have a lot more fecal matter on them than animals raised naturally on pasture. Another issue it the well-meant regulations regarding access to food and water right up until the time of slaughter. Full digestive systems are more likely to be punctured during processing than animals that were traditionally fasted briefly before going to meet their maker.
Also gotta ask, what is this word 'poo'? Just a few decades back, no one seemed to use that word after kindergarten. It was basically 'baby talk', a nursery word. Now everyone seems to use it for feces, dung, manure, even droppings and guano. Even shit sound more... grown up.
