I adore Darkwing and Gosalyn's father-daughter moments! It's what hooked me to the show, along with the interesting character. Though, honestly, if their relationship was not included in the show then I most likely wouldn't have watched it.
Drake is the best Disney father. He loves Gosalyn. He's concerned for her safety. He does all he can to protect her and shape her into the best person she can be. He's sweet but knows how to put his foot down. He tries so hard. The opening made me want to cry as it was.
4:34 shows how much DW cares about Gosalyn, he has a ego problem, yes, he will sometimes care about the spotlight, yes, but inside he truly and deeply cares about Gosalyn no matter what universe he's in and will do anything to help her. Truly a great example of what a parent should be.
Drake and Gosalyn's love for each other is so adorable. If a Darkwing Duck reboot comes out they should include moments like this. Disney can reboot Gosalyn as many times they want and she'll still be cute, as long as they keep her energetic and caring personality.
Back then I watched most episodes before the prologue was aires again and until then I never realized that Darkwing was not her natural father. Not only felt their relationship so natural, the show avoided the annoying plot of either one angsting about their lack of blood-relationship.
Gosalyn: Darkwarrior? Darkwing: Oh, perfect, gone five minutes and my own daughter forgets my name. Just like she forgot she was supposed to stay in the Ratcatcher. Gosalyn: [looks down, happily] Launchpad! Darkwing: Don't change the subject. I have had it with you, young lady. You are grounded for a month. Gosalyn: No problem, Dad. That kind of justice I can handle. [hugs him] Darkwing: Now don't argue with me. I--[looks slightly confused, hugs Gosalyn back]
Gosalyn, at least in her 90's version, is a character you just can't hate. Yeah, she can be annoying, but hey, she's a darn good bit different from most female characters. She's pretty free from all cliches, and I prefer the girly female characters, but I like it when exceptions are the rule. That's what makes Gosalyn special, other than her name. She learns from her adoptive father, and that inspired me to that fanfic.
Do you guys ever notices the disney afternoon protagonist partner/sidekick/apprentice/friend/adopted is a kid Scrooge and Webby Darkwing Duck and Gosalyn Baloo and Kit Goofy and Max
I remember running home from school to watch Darkwing Duck. Now my 6 year old loves it on Disney+. I shared this video with him on RUclips Kids, and today we watched "Time and Punishment" (The Darkwarrior Duck episode) together. Around 8:54 at that episode, my son said "Don't worry, Mommy. He won't shoot." I knew he wouldn't but for my son's sake said "Are you sure? A loving parent wouldn't threaten their child like that!" He then pulled out his iPad and said "See, Mommy? He wouldn't shoot her, just like you wouldn't shoot me!"
I swear, I watched this show obsessively as a child, and only now do I notice how maturely they've written Gosalyn. Like, she's a rowdy troublemaker for sure but she's also empathetic, quick-witted and capable on top of being genuinely adorable. She's not a hanger-on like your usual child character but a proactive and skilled helper. This show was already a beloved part of my childhood and only now do I see WHY I loved it so much. Truly, Disney's shows were on a whole other plane of existence during the 80's and 90's. Or perhaps I've been exposed to so many obnoxious Bart Simpson-esque frat boy stereotypes that I find it refreshing to see what a well-written character looks like. Either way, this show's just deserved a marathon of a rerun. Childhood, here I come.
That’s what I’ve always wanted Webby vanderquack and Gosalyn waddlemeyer to have their very own spin-off television series starring Kate Micucci and Stephanie Beatriz
This is cute, and cool and amazing, but it can get hard to really enjoy that they actually do this because how strict Drake can get with Gosalyn. He forbids her from going on adventures. I know this means she is concerned about her safety, but this is no matter how many times she actually saves the day or Drake and Launchpad's lives. And he can get a bit mad or irritated, somewhat easily at times (like in Twin Beaks, he angrily told Gosalyn to read his mind, and she ran straight to her homework) and 5:42.
Well, DW behaviour makes perfect sense it is just that we as the watcher know that nothing will ever happen to her because that goes against the convention of the show.
Darkwing reminds me of my own dad but without the superhero get-up. This is proof that we seriously need more healthy parental relationships in fiction.
But with a batman twist since he has no powers only a warped mind for marshal laws and probably arrested all SHUSH agents (including Grizzlykof) and even destroyed every FOWL agents and put FOWL High Command in jail

They have a great bond throughout the show but the pilot double-parter shows it better than in any other episode. The two first clips in this video are only two of several great moments from those two episodes. The show was surprisingly well-written for its time :).

4:55 not to mention the fact he hugs gosalyn by pure instinct upon hearing negaduck is her guardian in the negaverse.
