I'm often asked which apps I use to find campsites, park-ups, LPG or many other motorhome-related things. But someone asked me a great question the other week- what apps do I use for travelling?
And that got me thinking: out of the 100+ apps on my phone, which ones do I use the most when travelling, whether that's on a road trip or another kind of adventure?
After much debate, I narrowed it down to my top 5 favourite apps for travel. If you're heading off on a trip soon, these might help you with planning, understanding signs in a foreign language, keeping up to date with news and magazines and finding fantastic walks and hikes in your area to enjoy.
I hope you find it useful (I think all but one of these are available on all smartphones (android and apple)).
    Thanks for watching,
    Kat

    ABOUT WANDERING BIRD
In 2018, I quit my job as an air traffic controller to travel in a van. That's adulting, right?
Since then, I've spent most of my time living in a motorhome, touring the UK and Europe, sometimes with my husband, sometimes with my daughter and sometimes enjoying solo female vanlife (well, with my dog, Mac!)
Wandering Bird was created to help motorhomers and campervanners make the most of their time on the road.
We share weekly tips, tricks and reviews to encourage and inspire your next adventure, whether you're a complete motorhoming beginner, or a more experienced owner looking for new ideas or places to visit.

Not sure about the UK, but here in the US, our local public library has books and magazines for free as long as you have a library card, all available online. The other thing that the library has is reference material, so think things like Chilton car repair manuals, the Encyclopedia Britannica, etc. So your local library could be something to check into.

Fantastic tip about Apple Maps. I’ve always ignored that app on my iPhones in favour of Google Maps. Planning a road trip right now, so your vlog was perfect timing and this tip is genius. Thanks so much 👍

Love using Polarsteps to record our trip. You can then add your own pictures and also share with friends and family so they can follow your trip while you are on the road.

Hi Cat we are going to Spain in two weeks and are having trouble finding European breakdown cover for our motorhome for longer than 30 days. We were hoping to go for 6 weeks this year and 4 months next year, we have residence permit from Greece, so can stay in Europe as long as we like. Please helpxxxxxxxxxxx
