Awesome guitar and sounds great. And it does sound very Blackmore. Especially from 28:00 onwards.
I love the look of 70s Strats, big headstock and etc. I think Blackmore, and Fast Eddie of Motorhead are responsible for my obsession . Also a huge fan of natural finishes, but I like the Olympic white as well (or whatever the right name is).
    Congratulations.

Great video as always. I have a 79 as well (actually a 1980 but 79 code & specs). Mine has been through the mill to. But not as much as yours. Mine has been stripped to natural & had corrosion on the saddles. The electronics were a mess, but has at least 2 original pickups (the 2 fibre & the bridge is a plastic high output X1 that is era correct) so a new wiring harness brought mine to life. It’s had a bad refret.
I went the other way than you & kept the natural & added the black plastic to go more 70s.
They’re great sounding guitars & love yours.

I have a 78' CBS Strat and love it. I've bought at least 3 other guitars after it and this one is still my fave. And yes, the overall bad rap for the CBS, especially the relating to the 3 bolt, are not fair or uniformed. The "acoustic" ring out and sustain on my 78 is unmatched in any other guitar I've played. And being LH, I have several flaws in the workmanship but they just showed me it was a hand made piece and just love it.

knocking it out of the ball park dave,my first real strat was a fender usa 78,looked the same as yours before refinish, natural, black guard,i had a mij yasuki strat before it,which wasnt a bad guitar at all.i paid the fender up for ages,it weighed a ton, never stayed in tune, needed neck shims all the time, wasnt easy to play, but sounded good.sold it for peanuts late 80s when skint.i can remember buying it,hp.guy in store/friend,knowing i wasnt well paid, kept trying to steer me to these new tokai goldstars mij, half the price.kept telling me they were excellent, but he couldnt persuade me lol i had to have the one with fender on head, silly me.the tokai was a better guitar.when i got back into strats years later,i got a mij fender, and was amazed at how much better it was than the 78 usa..but youre one sounds awesome, and i have mates, whose fave strats are 70s or 70s reissues.lol i bought the 78,because it look liked ritchie blackmores strat on made in europe album, and i was young lol keep youre eye open for a levinson blade from the 90s,the mij ones have fender style headstock, other blades korea etc different headstock.the mij blades are top notch fender killers.the blade texas models from 90s can sometimes be found for not a huge amount used, other blades rh4 etc more expensive.but the early mij blade 90s texas models, not the current ones, are great, more trad strat with variable spectrum boost circuit, and mostly hand made
