I Think… I NEEDED to visit POLAND. (I'm shook) 🇵🇱😮💨

- WROCLAW, POLAND is not somewhere I thought I would visit. Poland in general wasn't on my Travel Bucket List.
Based out of Prague, and with a huge amount of options for destinations in Europe, something in me told me that I should visit Poland. I hadn't heard much about it... it wasn't buzzy, but it just felt like something I should do.
Shortly after arriving I had a major lightbulb moment. It entirely changed the way I viewed Poland as a country, and the way I looked at my own family, history, and life.
The food and culture in Wroclaw is incredible and (to my absolute surprise), the city has become one of my favorite places in all of Europe. I hope you get a chance to visit, and I hope you get a chance to travel to places that have importance to yourself, your upbringing, and your family history! It's more important than you might even realize.

I used live in Wrocław ,it's an awesome city . Greetingsfrom Łódź
Live there 😁🤟🏻💛
We did not try to figure out our identity in the 80s. We knew what our identity was and fought for it. Konspira is a slang term for konspiracja (conspiracy) and in this context refers to Solidarność being delegalized and pushed into the underground. Please learn your own history, so people from foreign countries will not shame you. Only 2% of people living in the US held slaves, including Native Americans and black people (sic!). The US was not built on the back of the slaves, as at their highest point, they comprised 15% of the population. Polish people were on the Mayflower; therefore, Polish culture is a part of American culture.
Congrats on your Wrocław pronunciation! I lived in Pittsburgh for almost 9 years and can attest that Western PA is also dripping with Polish culture, yet everyone identifies 100% American and they don’t know much about Poland. Glad you enjoyed Poland and hope you’ll get to explore other cities too!
Pierwszy Amerykanin który dobrze wymawia WROCŁAW! Pozdrawiam!

The best pronunciation of "Wrocław" I have heard from a foreigner. Enjoyed watching your culinary adventure and personal journey. Sub :)
Awe thank you! I practiced! 😂🙏🏻❤️
His 'rynek' needs a little work though :)
As a foreigner who lived in Wrocław for 3 years this video brings back so many good memories. We remembered the good times we lived there, unique mixture of architecture, Stare Miasto, Wyspa Piasek, pierogarnias, little dwarf statues... There are even more things to see, Hala Stulecia coming to my mind right away. It is such an underrated city with lots to offer in my opinion. But the best part for us was the decent people. Everyone was so nice and helpful for our foreigner family who couldn't speak Polish at all.
For food there are many options as well. Besides lovely restaurants and cafes, there are many nice local options called Bar Mleczny. Some of them cook decent and authentic food. Also you can try going for a 'Cukiernia' and try Sernik, or go for a 'Pączkarnia' to get some delicious pączki. You will then get why some international brands like Cheesecake Factory or Dunkin Donuts had no chance in this country :)
PS: Even though that now we live in Germany, we think that Polish Golonka beats Haxe, as well as Kielbasa is just better than most of the Wurst. But we don't tell it to our German friends in order not to hurt their feelings :D
This is so cool to hear! It really is lovely, and definitely seems to me like a fantastic place to live. I'll take note of your suggestions for next time, that sounds amazing! Thank you so much for watching!! 🙏🏻
good tactics. Germans hate Poles and if you said something like that you would make an enemy for life
Such a nice comment :) Wish You all best my half polish Friend ;)
Pozdrawiam serdecznie.
I have a Polish grandfather who died before I was born. I have always had Poland on my ‘to visit’ list but I always felt bad I knew nothing about it. Your video has really inspired me to make the trip next year. So thanks!

As a Pole I wish you a nice trip. If you happen to visit Wrocław please consider checking out Panorama Racławicka. It's an awe inspiring 360 degree painting (titled Bitwa pod Racławicami) depicting one of famous battles in polish history. It also has a really cool detail of a polish peasant soldier (Wojciech Bartosz) holding a broken scythe and putting his headwear on russian cannon trying to extinguish it before it fires. (I won't tell you if he made it though, go check yourself) ;)
Go for it You won’t be sorry It’s amazing
If I can give you any advice: spend a little more time on this trip... because Poland is very diverse. Even among the largest cities, each has a different character... and it would be nice to see at least Krakow, Warsaw, Lublin, Gdańsk, Wrocław, or Sandomierz, or Kazimierz Dolny... besides, in Poland you have the sea, various types of mountains, wonderful national parks (forests, swamps, charming, winding, unregulated rivers...). Generally, before the visit, it is worth doing a little research on the Internet - RUclips and sightseeing films about Poland, or even Google Maps in satellite view and Google Street View... and numerous photos added to the maps by people visiting given places. Enjoy! :)
I have met many Americans in my long life, but I have never met anyone with such an open mind like yours. Keep it up !

Dużo tam atrakcji z tłumaczem (żywym lub elektronicznym) w języku angielskim. Sporo dowiesz się o korzeniach Polski. (Kraków kiedyś był stolicą Polski). Śląsk to też odrębna kultura. Koniecznie musisz spróbować "wizytówki Śląska", są to kluski śląskie, ciemna kapusta i rolada.
I następne danie, które może stać się twoim ulubionym to Bigos. Tego nie da się opisać to trzeba spróbować.

Great pronunciation of Wrocław! (it's difficult for foreigners!!)
I'm glad that you started from Wrocław, my hometown! It is often omitted on the tourist map of Poland (Kraków and the capital - Warsaw are the leaders).
U Beatka it's Beata's Place (it's like Bar Mleczny but I won't explain it here) - a great type of place for really basic Polish dishes, which I love.
In your next trip you should visit Gdańsk, Krakow and the capital city - Warsaw to compare the experiences! Or go further and go a bit into the wilderness - Bieszczady or Mazury lake district.
Tell your friends that Poland is a very worth visiting country! A very quiet place, open to visitors and a clean one! Even Geremy Clarkson confirms this.
There is nothing to be afraid of. Except... Polar Bears! from the stories of people who have never been here.

Ah thank you so much, I'm glad you liked it!! ☺️
Brilliant story! Nice video!
Thank you for watching!! 🙏🏻
I admire the energy with which you speak. You made a very good film with a nice message to virtually all countries. Nationalism is deadly and does not mean the same as patriotism. Wrocław, like many other places in Poland, is beautiful. Remember that each region has its own regional cuisine in that country.😉
Thank you so much! Yes I'm very excited to visit the other regions as well, I can't wait to see some of the other cities! I'll be back soon!
There are dozens of different types,of nationalism, just like any other ideologies, it's not primarily deadly or bad. Roman Dmowski was nationalist and he is one of fathers of polish indepedence, was his infulence also deadly?
@@mateuszgorecki6848 Dmowski is a mental deviant. No father of independence like the entire ND (National Democracy). There is no big difference between ND and NSDAP, KK, etc.
I live in Wrocław and I'm glad You enjoyed Yourself here. Poland is a great country and I wish I could one day visit Your homeland and see how much Poland influenced it.
There are much more great places to visit in Poland if You would wanna come back someday. There are multitude of smaller events almost every weekend in every major city.
That's so kind! It really is amazing seeing the Polish influence in my hometown, especially with this new perspective. I will be back for sure, I know I've barely scratched the surface on all the amazing regions/cities to visit. I can't wait!
Cool vid, best regards from me and Poland
🙏🏻 Thanks so much!
Your enthusiasm is so contagious! 😂 Will make sure I get to try pierogi when I visit Poland.
Awe I'm glad to hear it! Yes most definitely do! 🙏🏻
Thank you for this video. I'm very pleased that you felt like at home. When you get back, notice that "pierogi" is already in the plural. You don`t have to add s. The singular is "pieróg" (ó=u). Perhaps you will surprise some Pole from Pennsylvania with this knowledge :)
PS: Your "Wrocław" was perfect!
"drops", "tips", "chips etc. are already in the plural, You don`t have to add "y" ;)

This just blew my mind!! 🤯 It makes sense though, the way the people from my hometown area pronounce *any* of this stuff is very wrong from my small amount of experience. Thank you for this, I'll remember that!
I practiced! I know some of the other pronunciations are NOT perfect, but we'll get there 😂
Nice channel, good luck bro :)
Thank you so much!!
Glad to hear you had a great time in Poland 🇵🇱 ❤ 🙏🏼
I did! I can't wait to go back!
@@Get.Lost.TravelDefinitely You should visit more places in Poland. Next time go to Cracow.
That was cool
Thats really interesting and great point of view to explore origins of traditions You had in Your hometown. Great video! Salute from PL

@@Get.Lost.Travel I know that reaction videos is not Your thing, but I would love to see and hear what you think about this amazing short animation about Poland during the Second World War. Its called- The Unconquered. If you like history, i think you will like it and you can learn more about Poland 🤗 . The whole video is in English and Narrated by Sean Bean. Enjoy! Love from Poland!
It was really lovely what you said about Poland and its connection to your childhood. You seem like a kind and emphatetic person. Best of wishes!
Thank you so much, I had a great time! Best wishes to you as well! 🙏🏻

❤️
I got so excited watching this video. I'm actually moving to Wroclaw in two months and would definitely go have some mixed pierogi plate. I always struggled picking a type. My favorite are pierogi ruskie, what are yours?
I love them all! And I'm not really experienced with the different kinds, in my hometown we really just had the one very simple version 😂 I'm excited to try more!
Born and briefly raised in Poland before moving permanently to the US. It's great to see someone appreciating the culture and food I grew up with. 😁
It's really an amazing place, I had such a great time visiting! 🙏🏻
Thank you that made my day and today is my birthday 😊😂 I am from Wrocław originally and miss this city a lot!
Oh my Gosh, Happy Birthday!!! 🎂🎈🎂 I'm honored you chose to spend part of it watching my video! It's a great city! I hope you have an absolutely fantastic day today!
Jak miło ,że zobaczyłeś Wrocław i ci się podobał ja tam mieszkałam :).Teraz mieszkam niedaleko Wrocławia to je odwiedzam:). Pozdrawiam serdecznie z Polski:).
Dziękuję bardzo, Wrocław jest taki cudowny!
Amazing that you liked it, Wrocław is great city and your story about pierogi is just awww ❤ i'm from upper Silesia in Poland, which is not tourist region at all (very urbanistic and famous of its mines and industry in the past), but if you happen to be here you can see some great industrial monuments linked to its history, such as XIX century Guido coal mine in Zabrze or Silesian Museum in Katowice. Silesia also has multiple well preserved baronial palaces and castles (eg palace in Pszczyna is beautiful, it has some biggest preserved after WW II crystal mirrors in the whole Europe). You can also discover some interesting food which is common for this region - rolada, kluski śląskie i modra kapusta are worth trying - it's one dish 😄 wish you all the best in your future journeys!
Ah it sounds like such an amazing place!! The region I'm from in the US is actually very similar, it's known for its coal mining history (actually the Polish immigrants would often work in the coal mines!) I'd love to visit one day! Thank you for watching!!
Wow, great to know that our regions have much in common despite of the distance! The pleasure is all mine ❤
we are very happy to hear that! hope to see you again in Wrocław :)
I will be back for sure! Thank you for watching!!
Great :), you are welcome! Try our mountains and Książ castle :)
great you liked it! have a good one!
Thank you so much!!
US is the country with the largest Polish community in the world.
Enjoy your trip across the Europe and exploring its cuisine and culture.
PS, Great storytelling! Greetings from Wrocław 🙂

Ah thank you so much! It's such a lovely city! I haven't been to Vancouver, but I do love the Seattle area, I'm sure I'll get over there eventually as well! 🙏🏻❤️
