Szymon Marciniak, double bass performs Bach Cello Suite No 6 in D Major live March 22nd 2017 at Kontrabass Kaleidoskop in Kloster Michaelstein, Germany
For my own reference and anybody else: 0:00 - Prelude 5:40 - Allemande 14:38 - Courante 18:36 - Sarabande 23:56 - Gavotte I 25:56 - Gavotte II 27:21 - Gavotte I (Repeat) 28:23 - Gigue
@@szymonbass Haha no worries! Yeah just simple as that. I am playing the Sarabande as part of my recital on double bass this year (in orchestral standard tuning pray for me) so I'm scouring the internet for references. I must say I do love your rendition of it!
Jaw dropping! Its hard enough to play on the cello, believe me! Its so satisfying to hear it played on the bass, very full and rich. The prelude brought tears by the end! Thank you.
Never hear and see this incredible perfection of technic on the bass, many cellist are not able to play so beautiful and perfect. Incredible level of playing bass. No word...
J T- sorry, it's not- maybe some day, but didn't really think about it yet, it's the first time I've played it here. I believe there is edition of Rabbath with all 6 Suites, but I didn't use any existing version to learn it- ultimately I think it's the most satisfying way do just work it out for oneself.
Gotta ditch those strings. Sounds out of tune
Pin of shame lmao
i feel so bad for his fingers. You guys have no idea the difference of pressure needed to press down compared from a bass and a cello
For my own reference and anybody else:
0:00 - Prelude
5:40 - Allemande
14:38 - Courante
18:36 - Sarabande
23:56 - Gavotte I
25:56 - Gavotte II
27:21 - Gavotte I (Repeat)
28:23 - Gigue
Many thanks! I was wondering how to do it...

Szymon this is wonderful. I have never heard the final 3 movements played so convincingly on our instrument. Truly beautiful. Cheers.
Sharif, I've just realized I used to see your performance of the Prelude a while ago- great work from you!
Extraordinary playing. Thank you.
Wonderful Szymon. A great accomplishment especially since there was no editing involved. The man can really play this! F.

Love it!
Magnifique! Bravissimo!
Amazing playing Szymon! I'm now practicing the Courante in D major, one octave lower than cello, but high enough on bass;)
Your doublestops are sublime

Bravissimo. Smart interpretation. Pianistic left hand
Bravo! Very inspired and gorgeous sound! If I may ask, how do you tune your bass for this? Fifths? Standard fourths? I must know! Thanks!
Thanks a lot! No experiments here- it's just standard solo tuning F# B E A.
Wonderful playing! Did you make your own transcription or you used someone else's?
thanks! my own!
Is it the Breitkopf edition?
it is my own version :)
Szymon Marciniak Great job!!! Very good!
Szymon Marciniak - beautiful playing and a great transcription. What a technical tour de force. Is your transcription available anywhere?
