if you want to use threshold but have it not be destructive, make sure your layer is a smart object and then add the threshold effect from below the layers. It'll add it as an adjustment layer and then you can parent it to only the layer below by alt-clicking the line in between them. This will achieve the exact same effect but also leave it editable so it's not destructive.
So, because I'm working down to the pixel I was able to select only the white pixels and just hit Delete. Make sure Anti-Alias and Contiguous are NOT checked at the top and you'll be good.

Great tutorial. Having a littler trouble getting similar detail in the stamp and photocopy filters. My image is over 5mb, a minimum of 6" tall at 300 dpi but the stamp effect fills in quite a bit. Very similar style photo to what you have. Wondering there might some other native setting in Photoshop or anything else I can do to get better results. Thanks for sharing!

All I can think is that either it's the same IMAGE but not the same RESOLUTION/SIZE or your canvas is too small. Either of those possible?

I would suggest upscaling any photo that's small to try and get more details. You can do this in Neural Filters.

What size is the canvas when you're creating?
I always use 15" W x 25" H at 300 PPI resolution.

You absolutely do not need vector artwork in order to screen print.

why the stamp effect isnotworking on my png file image?
Might not be high-resolution enough!
Not sure why this isn't working very well for photos I took on my own that are larger than 2mp. The stamp filter just doesn't look right
Gonna vary from photo to photo - you just have to play with the settings, different photos, etc. Not a one size fits all type of situation!
