I'm a Lexus 500 Series (Year 2018) in the USA. Lexus offers on its high end LS 500 model a Panorama Moon (or Sun) Roof, a glass panel that covers the entire roof. Perhaps this amenity is not available in Australia. Lexus tightened the suspension system in the 2018 LS 500 series giving it a very performance oriented driver's car feel. Of course, there are trade-offs when doing this tightening. A more taught suspension means a less comfortable ride. Some LS 500 owners used to the softer ride complained. It is my understanding that Lexus soften the ride in subsequent year LS 500 models by tweaking the suspension. Why is a Lexus a more reliable car? Same as Apple products. Lexus delays rolling out all the new state-of-the-art technology and watches how the new cutting edge technology released by competitors (mainly Mercedes S Class) plays out in the "wild." One can run simulations for years in the lab, but until the new technology is deployed in the wild, only then will the real test occurs. Lexus holds back purposely to see what the bugs are in the cutting edge technology and then uses that information to release the technology usually 2-3 years later in their models. The result: Lexus has fewer consumer complaints. Apple does the same with its new technology. Apple (like Lexus) will never be first to market with the cutting edge technology, but when Apple (Lexus) does roll out the new technology it is highly consistent and reliable. Very little consumer complaints. Enjoyed your video comparison of the Lexus LS 500 & BMW 7 Series, although I still think my friend that you exaggerated that initial roll stop in the BMW. :-)
Jerry mate you explained Lexus perfectly and couldn't agree with you more! It's a shame that they do get critiqued the hardest by reviewers who have the car for an hour and all they can talk about is everything it doesn't have (compared to its competitors). If they actually lived with the car (like most the cars I've reviewed) they would better understand Lexus as a brand. regardless the specs because how much you pay you will get in BMW and Lexus... but I have driven both of these cars for some time, BMW gives a better feeling and is more luxurious .. Lexus makes you feel comfortable as you don't have to worry about the maintenance. I love Gold coast though

If you re-watch and on RUclips setting change it to .25 speed you’ll notice the torso (seat back) moving before my head does on the first stop. The LS is really smooth to drive. But some things that I thought I could deal with, but has since become quite a nuisance, is that some oft used features are buried several menus deep within the infotainment system.
Hey Andy! Thank you so much for watching! Yes the infotainment is quite a pain to use but I found after using it as a daily the only menu I had to keep going into was the seats massaging, everything else I sort of got used to or used voice control. I'm assuming you have one?

A part of it is because of the difference in dollars but a lot of it is taxes which is actually ridiculous... To put in perspective, any car that’s over $76,000 gets an additional 30% luxury tax on every dollar over. Haha it’s next level here! Hope to see you on the next one :)!!

Lockheed L-1011 Tristar Hey mate! I actually have done a side by side comparison on them, check it out! Overall I want to say the S Class (and actually did) but it lacked in the handling and road noise. Which will then make me say the LS500. It absorbs the road much better with noise cancelling tyres and with double glazed (acoustic glass) it is absolutely sublime!
@@Fall-off-currencies I’m a sucker for the tech in the S Class 😂. To be fair I’ve come to appreciate the LS a lot more in recent times especially now that I’ve driven it a lot more. If I redid the video I’m not too sure what I would say now :)

It is hard to tell which one is better. the BMW is more spectacular for interior lights, many details are perfects etc... but the Lexus have jusr a crazy list of luxurious important systems that you must pay soooo much more on the bmw. The LS is obviously a luxurious travel machine and can be used evrry day. The BMW is a car fir exceptionnal moments... but even if the 7 have a crazy finish... it is so overpriced...i don't forget that the LS have an exceptionnal reliability.

Also the Rear Comfort Package in the BMW was so basic compared to the LS500 that it totally changed my opinion towards how nice the Lexus actually is! Its all nice and well to change the mood lighting at the back seats (BMW) but having a massage at the back seat whilst being fully reclined is just magic :D !!! I think the Lexus IS a great car but I’m team bmw and I love my 1991 bmw 735il I like the option of have a V12 still offered by bmw and a V8 option I’m not a fan of that twin turbo V6 from Lexus

The two I'm comparing are in the same price bracket - BMW - $270k and Lexus - $210k... and between these two I would definitely pick the Lexus. If Lexus could have used the GS exterior design instead of the ES they would have been way better Gs has a more aggressive look the new LS look exactly like a Es just a lil longer if you see the new LS on the road & you don’t know much about them you’ll think it’s a ES yet they coast twice the price

Bmw is a pure fun to drive thing, all the focus is on the performance. Lexus is not that kinda performance machine but gonna last till your grandkids gets married.

So the reason I said that is because I drove these cars for a few weeks each and I noticed when driving the LS around town most people wouldn't look twice at it but whilst I was driving the 7 series a lot of people would stop to stare and pull out there phones to take photos of it. I love the way the LS looks but it's probably a bit understated compared to the 7 series. Anyways hope to see you on the next one :)!

Ridiculous comparison as you forget to explain the LS has a $20k rear seat option. The BMW could also be outfitted the same way but you didn't choose it.

The LS500 as it was optioned was $220,000 drive-away and the BMW 740Li that I was driving with all its options was $240,000 drive-away. So the BMW was $20,000 MORE expensive. You didn't compared the gearbox quality, ok, and engine performance 3 litres with 3.5 twin turbo! Bmw is better in in gearbox quality, the technology is something variable, how much the parts cost, a engine oil replacement cost , maintenance in general, we want to see this things not technology

Alright, so the ls500 drives smoother is better isolated and handles better. But why do you prefer the s class overall?

If Lexus could have used the GS exterior design instead of the ES they would have been way better Gs has a more aggressive look the new LS look exactly like a Es just a lil longer if you see the new LS on the road & you don’t know much about them you’ll think it’s a ES yet they coast twice the price

@@SergCarReviews I been loving them for a long time I’ll get one one day but so far I prefer the 2017 one Longwheel one. They are great cars but the size between them & Es is not that big, look at an E class it’s smaller than a ES but an s class is larger than a LS

Hey Xavier! Firstly thank you so much for watching and commenting! So the reason I said that is because I drove these cars for a few weeks each and I noticed when driving the LS around town most people wouldn't look twice at it but whilst I was driving the 7 series a lot of people would stop to stare and pull out there phones to take photos of it. I love the way the LS looks but it's probably a bit understated compared to the 7 series. Anyways hope to see you on the next one :)!

Ridiculous comparison as you forget to explain the LS has a $20k rear seat option. The BMW could also be outfitted the same way but you didn't choose it.

I'm not sure if you watched the entire video because I do mention these are Australian models and the prices of them. The LS500 as it was optioned was $220,000 drive-away and the BMW 740Li that I was driving with all its options was $240,000 drive-away.
So the BMW was $20,000 MORE expensive. The comparison for Australia is more than fair.

You didn't compared the gearbox quality, ok, and engine performance 3 litres with 3.5 twin turbo! Bmw is better in in gearbox quality, the technology is something variable, how much the parts cost, a engine oil replacement cost , maintenance in general, we want to see this things not technology
