Ant had defensive lapses at FIBA for sure, but he was also playing damn near the entire game while navigating a different defensive system. He’s an infinitely better defender than Donovan Mitchel, AND he lead all guards in steals + blocks the second half of the year. The man had 40 blocks over his last 33 games (February-onward, including Play-In + Playoffs-making him the only guard in the top-20 in blocks during that stretch), and was tied for 4th on the year in the entire league in steals (1.6).

Just a little context , jamal murray’s career playoff stats 25/6/5 on 47/40/91 splits 🥶
In 53 total games
Dames: 25/6/4 on 41/36/88 splits
In 61 total games
Devin booker : 28/5/5 on 48/39/89 splits in 43 total games
Stephen curry : 27/5/6 on 45/39/88 splits in an absurd 147 total games.
I say all this to say , jamal murray has the capability to go toe to toe with any top guard in the league once the playoffs roll around. Am i saying he’s better ? No, but he’s certainly comparable. & with more playoff games played then someone like devin booker, who’s seen as a top guard in this league, u cant say its on to small of a sample size. When the national media stop down playing the nuggets? Who knows
