This is the first time I've commented on your videos, but have been following your channel for several months now. Love your videos and the information you provide. I started watching to gain a little knowledge about mango trees. We have some property in the Philippines and have a variety of fruit trees including 4 mango trees. My relatives there have been telling me that the 3 older trees do not fruit, but the mango tree I planted 4 years ago had fruit this year. I believe now from watching your videos ( and other RUclips videos) that have never been cared for probably need a good pruning. I going to the Philippines next week so I will know more than. Thank you for you videos.
Is it better to leave the existing rootstock growth above the graft until the graft takes? or better to decapitate the rootstock from the beginning and then install the graft?
Just the right video I was hoping to watch the process much closer. You nailed it. I still am not clear on how deep we should go on the mother plant. Looks like you are just peeling the bark and not getting into the wood? Please confirm.
I usually base the cut into the shoot or young branch on the diameter of the scion. Most of the wood I deal with is very young and relatively soft. If the wood is hard, I don't cut into it... just down along the edge of it.
Hello. I planted a mango seed to use it as a rootstock. The seed looked like mono embryonic but it germinated it cama out that it was polyembryonic. There are five plants that came out. Do you know how to do grafting when you have that many plants out from a single seed? Can you graft a different type of mango on each plant? Can you separate each of the plants? Do polyembryonic seed have more than one root?
New subscriber, very informative video. I just want to know when do you take the tape off the scion? Also can soursop, and sugar apple trees graft thus way?
Are you letting two varieties to grow The rootstock and scion As you haven't removed the top part of rootstock after grafting Can we have 2 varieties ??
Yes! Thanks for mentioning... It's best to sterilize each time you start working on a new plant. There are lots of pathogens that can be passed from tree to tree... some by wind, some by insects, some by touch, and of course... by tools.
Be careful how you sterilize. My fingers were wet with hydrogen peroxide for a long time while doing many grafts. I guess the chemical ate some of the skin just under my fingernails and exposed the nerve endings. I was in serious pain for hours.
late summer and early fall works very well for us, but that's when we have the most time for grafting we try to avoid late winter and early spring because there's an increased chance that the scions could send out flowers instead of leaves
I am fascinate on graphing plants. Doesnt this create "gmo" foods? Please explain why the scion piece was so small? I dont understand that. Could you use a longer branch or would that just cause extra stress? Maybe this could be a separate video. Tfs
If you just need a few, you can cut large rubber bands and use those. Also, we sell small quantities. If you're able to use a lot, you can buy from A.M. Leonard (amleo.com). There are other garden supply sources online that sell smaller quantities
I am a little bit of a better man today thanks Fred Rogers I think and Im a little bit of a more knowledgeable mango tree owner thanks to you so there! Thanks both of you!!!
No. Parafilm grafting tape is useful in certain situations, but I primarily use buddy tape. We did a video comparing grafting materials ... you might find that useful
Second one wt u did it rare chances to grow. If u would have cut the top branch first the chances get increases. Of success otherwise all juice suck the upper branch. I have done lots of things and got experience actually i m mechanical engineer so I had no theoretical knowledge all have practical.
Chris, I have learned so much from your videos, please keep them coming. Thank you so much!!!
Great detailed video. Thank you for sharing your skills and also to the camera operator for the awesome close-ups.

Ok after the cleft graft gets growing do you cut off the part that you grafed to?
When do you take the buddy tape off? Or does the tree grow thru it?
Nice guide.
Thanks for watching!

Is the buddy tape better than paraffin tape?

The rootstock and scion
As you haven't removed the top part of rootstock after grafting
Can we have 2 varieties ??
That’s what I was was wondering
Slow 🐌 down grasshopper. You need sap flow until the scion establishes itself
great video.
Thank mam . Very clear vedio.i am very liked your vedio. Very nice mam. You make same vedio. Weat for your next grafting vedio.
I'm glad the video was helpful!
Nice grafting sister
Is grafting success in any season or only in September..Oct..

Yes! Thanks for mentioning...

When so you start shipping scions
We will start shipping scions again in late March. We will announce on our website and RUclips channel when ordering in open again.
@@TrulyTropical do you ship scions to California?

I want to see, How you remove tape from grafting wood. & When.

Is buddy tape the same as parafilm grafting tape?
No. Parafilm grafting tape is useful in certain situations, but I primarily use buddy tape.
We did a video comparing grafting materials ... you might find that useful
Great thanks for reply
Any advantage to wait for the tree to spring back up to graft on the water shoots vs just doing a bark graft right after cutting tree?
Please, try to show results always....
Good myadam

I,am from mumbai
Never use razor blade ... it's a flexible. Always goes wrong. Use sharp knife instead of that.
