I’d love to see a budget hard use video! Every other knife RUclipsr cuts boxes & letters for a week & says “great work knife” I know you actually work w yours. 😂
The LBS disc on the Hinderer does do a little more than just a regular over travel stop. If you look at the way it's machined into the lockbar, the disc nests in and prevents travel in all directions so that the bar can't flex up towards the frame or down away from it. While it's probably not strictly necessary, it does actually do more. I've noticed most specifically on my Nymble W with how thin (short in height?) the lockbar is even just pulling in and out of the detent on open causes a lot of travel parallel with-in the lockbar cutout area.
My choice for heavy duty knives are the ZT0562 ( I have 3 of these ), Shaman ( I have 2 ), Cold Steel AD10, Cold Steel AD15, Cold Steel Code 4 and the Cold Steel Engage. I love these knives.
I own a full ti, milled working finish xm18 spanto in s45, gen 1 Mac 2 3.5 in 20cv, ti 20.5 and a ti m390 pm2 build and they all used to get pocket time at the foundry I work at. But lately, I’ve been only carrying my stonewashed smooth QC drift in vanax and north arm skaha 2 in magnacut lately. I’ve kind of started enjoying the lightweight, thinner blade stock carries the last couple of months. My holt haptic has really made me fall in love with smaller knives.
I’d take the McNees as it’s the most in my blindspot tbh.. I’m gonna have to grab the full AD20 next time they come around tho- time after that at most! Have a smaller model which is a fav, though def not fitting this same category. Have a G10 MSI at work lately which serves my taste great; but again that’s a few notches back from these, so to speak
If I could have one it’d probably be the Hinderer just because I’ve been interested in them for years but will never spend that much. My work knife is a 940-2. Does what I need in my line of work on film sets
Not needing a big forward coil to choke up on that decreases the length of cutting edge is how all well designed folders should be imo, makes so much more sense. So to me the Mcnees is designed well, knives like the PM2 or SNG are not, but that’s just me. Enjoying the content Dood ✌🏻
just snagged an ad20.5 and im not going to lie. its an overhyped knife. not terrible but its not as great as everyone makes it. i been thinking about getting a hinderer for a while now. but im just waiting for the stars to align. hopefully it doesnt disapoint.
I have several Sebenzas and really haven't found much that caught my eye in the last few years but there's just something beautifully simple about McNees. Does anyone know if they've ever done dedicated left handed Mac2?
@@doodysdaggers thanks, I just started researching but figured I might find a quick answer. I don't see any, anywhere and Kevin reviewed a righty one, so I'm guessing not. I reached out to McNees to see if they have or plan to in the future.
Using a leaf blower in the desert is extremely dusty and dirty. Washers get just as dirty as bearings. Bearing are fine for dirty work. I have to disassemble and clean my dirty ass washer knives just as much as bearing knives. Having backspacer actually makes the most difference in keeping a knife clean, at least for me.

Good idea!
I love the mac 2 3.5! Its the best, truly under-rated

That makes sense
Shaman for sure. Thanks Dood.
The one I would get is the AD20 but that’s because I have all the others. Great video Dood.

Great video- work knives awesome concept, so tired of knife videos on action.
Amen!
Great “Work Knives”!! Love ALL OF THEM!!!!

Right on man! The Drift is one of the best, absolutely
@@doodysdaggers definitely sort of a budget Rosie. I like my Rosie better, but it’s certainly a poor man’s Roosevelt and I’m in for it
My first Hinderer, an XM-24, should be here today! Im stoked! Just need a nice textured ti scale for it now!
Hell yeah congratulations!
@@doodysdaggers thanks man!
The Spyderco is the one I'd want. Thanks
I don’t blame ya! Amazing knife

Awesome list brother! Love everything on that table! I'm still lacking a mcnees and a ad20 in my collection 😢
You can do it!😉
@@doodysdaggers some day sir!

Definitely a point for the McNees, if you’re into a design like that. Sometimes I like choils, sometimes I don’t. Just depends on
Shaman Power!🤠
Spartan Harsey folder and Microtech Socom elite are my go to heavy boys
Hell yeah
I use a strider SMF with the aluminum show side not that crappy G10 on a daily this knife is beat to hell and keeps on trucking 😎
That’s one that I haven’t tried yet
Work knives should include CRK, there should have been 5..
Mine is out on loan right now, or I would have included it
These are all grail knives to me…wish I had just one of them. I think my favorite would have to be either the mcnees or demko.
Great video Dood. Respect. D
AD20 all the way. Shaman is a monster for a Spyderco knife but it isn't in the same league.
Some great knives there. Cheers!
I'm a spyderco fan boy and I don't have the shaman yet so I'd take that. I do own a Para 2 (s30), a manix 2 (s110) and a yojumbo (s30).
I waited a while to get a Shaman too. But oh boy once I got one I kicked myself for not doing it sooner
@@doodysdaggers the yojumbo is a beast of a blade. I don't feel safe deploying it in public lol
I have problems with ceramic bearings in plastic cages but skiffs I do not. I'm a millwright in a glass batch house extremely dusty. Ad20 for sure.
Interesting! Sounds like a cool job
@doodysdaggers ehh lol but I guess silica dust wears the plastic all I can think.
Awesome video. Also sick of Magnacut so many steels are just as good if not better.
I’ve always wanted to try a hinderer firetac
them knife are stronk 💪
Demko is my Pick!!!!!
What are your thoughts on the Chris Reeve Umnumzaan? As a hard user or just as a general EDC?
I like it, definitely a heavy duty work knife

BBB's 15V is way way ahead of the pack.

Hey Dood, who did that regrind?
BGM Knives on Instagram
@@doodysdaggersthank you
The mcnees is on washers, atleast I’m 90% sure
No McNees are bearings
Mcnees is good but does your have any flex in stop pin is small
Nope no flex. Rock solid
🤘
you missed the chance to say heaviest doody work knives...
I thought about it but I was worried someone just scrolling on RUclips wouldn’t get it. Gotta get those clicks brother
Hve you held a hinderer eklipse?….Hand melting
@@travismeyers3098 yes! Just as good as the xm18
