This one singular desert is several times bigger than the entire Earth. Besides that, the landscape consists primarily of immensely vast mountain ridges or endless deserts. Flying bricks exist because it is the only reliable way to efficiently transport large numbers of troops, supplies, ballistic missiles and planes.
Well you need bigger ships its same like in real life. First ship which is a carrier. Some ships with tactical rockets. Maybe something small and fast to catch prize ships and suprise enemy garrison. I find Sevastapol good only in one thing. I just upgrade it a little bit. And destroy all strike groups going to me on the start of the game. Of course I use also planes to catch rockets :P.
You have to travel thousands of kilometers across the desert to build an air fleet of fighters, and each fighter costs thousands, not even considering lots of ammunition without which they are useless machineguns with wings

The most satisfying part of the highfleet campaign is when the power of your planes and the funny little switches at the top right of the screen surpasses the power of your actual combat ships. I've only beaten the game once, but I reckon you could feasibly beat the game with just one decent armored ship and the rest more scouting-oriented to get you to that mid-game point of missile and plane spam.
I actually managed to beat the game with only 1 ship throughout the whole campaign. Well... not exactly. Getting to the destination (the capital), indeed, did take just a single ship.... but it took me a whole fleet to deal with what came next. The ship is named "the cube" or something like that, and it's literally in the shape of a cube, and coated in 2 layers of thick armor. If you (or anyone really) wants the design, just comment in this chat and mention my name.
There's a reason that ever since I could create a custom flagship, my default loadout has been a supercarrier flagship, a missile boat with a dozen VLS cells, and a pair of Lightning clones for sudden strikes.
The better tactic is to send the planes in 3 at a time in sequence rather than as a huge group, then retreat them immediately so the enemy's AA never gets a chance to spin up and shoot down any of your craft.

Well, when there are only so many enemy fleets left at the end, we might just have some fun out of large blobs of planes. Efficiency is no longer a priority at this point :)
I kinda wish that when you sent them in a group they'd all fly in at once, or at least 2-3 groups at a time so there would be an actual reason to do it.

Bombs are so much more effective than missiles for some reasons. Even flying ship can't dodge bombs as easily as they dodge rockets, which makes no sense.
Aircraft, The thing that is fun to use but a pain to fight. Because you always get put in a ship with a low firerate and reload rate with bad weapons, Meanwhile the one veteran ship with really good reload speed and rounds is AI Controlled and gets insta-bridged or ammo-detted, You know the one you have used to kill 2 strike groups 3 tac groups and 7 trader groups alone by just using it, and also have gotten to veteran 5+ on. Funnn
You really have to use carriers carefully though in the early game, they drain a lot of resources and if you mess up one sortie, you're drastically reducing your fleet's strength

T7 are pricey but their snowball effect is undeniable, the more you send them, the more likely they will survive and return thanks to the superior agility and durability
Never did get how the heck some tiny missiles and bombs from a plane (i mean, planes are mere specks compared to even the smallest ships, imagine how tiny the bombs are! cruise missiles are at least visibly massive inside the ships) are somehow more effective and destructive than the massive guns on the ships
To be fair ground to air missiles are kinda of nerfed pretty hard in this game, as well as point defence systems like 37mm machine gun. If they were to be a little bit more closer to real life( aa missles have smaller size and more reach) and point defense systems more accurate air spam wouldn't be as effective as it is now
Well, yes and no. If you want to bring AA to modern standards, then include stealth aircraft, gliding bombs, and cruise missiles. Aircraft in this game are extremely weak and armed with WWII-era weapons-except for the AA missile (which barely works). They also never maneuver to avoid fire. Meanwhile, artillery is overpowered. For reference, check how many aircraft were lost to artillery AA during the Iraq War (spoiler: zero). And we all remember how "effective" the 43cm AA shells of the Yamato were in real life. In this game, you can delete any aircraft with the biggest guns, like you're shooting ducks. XD
Might remind you in hard mode if the enemy even gets a chance to shoot it's aam and ciwis your aircraft are gonna get domed, they are not cheap and 8 lost t7's is 20k, not to mention they aren't readily available and your bombers can be easily intercepted by a longbow in a strikefleet so airplanes aren't a good strategy past the mid game on hard
Meta was, is, and always will be a flying brick that can take out every strike group back to back with no brakes. But is it fun? After some recent updates aircraft got nerfed, yes, but you still need them to effectively and cheaply take out tactical missile launchers and softening some beefy garrisons. Taking out carriers preemptively is an option too. But I agree that strike groups are no longer a good target for bombers since they seem to reload faster and fire angles are no longer blocking turrets from shooting. Btw if you are using fast bombers they will never be intercepted if you control them, and Im not sure what you mean by “not readily available”, near khiva i had 5-12 reserve t7s on each of my 3 carrier groups. Just have some fast supply ship to buy every t7 from traders mercenaries and you’ll have more then you ever need. Btw this video was recorded at the end of hard campaign with bombers inflicting roughly 70% of kills of all strike group ships. Was my first campaign dominated by airforce witch inspired me to make this :D
@@greydracoplays im saying is there are usually only 1 -3 t7's on the merchant shops and garrisons need to be taken out in order to dock, not to mention even a bad run when you loose like 4 aircraft is 10k down the drain. bomb also cost a decent amount of money when you constantly use them and they just dump 6 250 kg bombs on a rook. You also cannot salvage destroyed ships when you use an aircraft and then seem to always raise the alarm even after a successful silent strike on medium and hard. I'm saying they are useful but if the enemy has good anti air it's just burning money sending a plane strike group. That's why in highfleet lore they use large flying metal boxes because it's armour can withstand the immense anti air and because the map spans thousands of kilometers aircraft only can attack when a carrier is close enough due to the fuel-thruster-weight loophole. And there is no large body of water anywhere near gera.

Why your aircraft ‘s can leave battle so eazily ? If it was me 2 out of 3 would be destroyed. Separate groups of 3 aircrafts is more efficient, because air defense on ships does not have time to work, even though after the first call they hit the alarm, it doesn’t change anything on clumsy strike groups

Yeah, only ever bother with the T-7s. The LA-29s are too slow to deliver their ordinance before the enemy returns fire, you'll just go through them like copy paper. The T-7s are also more versatile and have ~ double the payload while only costing 30% more in terms of money and deck space, making them a better investment even before you factor in their massively superior survivability. If you're smart you can usually pull off most strikes with zero losses, unless they have Sprints.
Because they are not allowed to use proximity shells, which they ironically use alot in combat. If the AI use proximity, carriers meta would be dead because unlike the AI, our Tarkhan is on a budget cut.
Holy fuck, this game's airstrikes need rebalancing. I'd really like the enemy to use better anti-air, because smashing everything to fuck with FAB-250s feels like cheating.
Almost as if having hundreds of small, fast, and precise planes is better than flying one slow ass box filled to the brim with explosive gas and has giant exposed weak-points.

I agree, and that's how I play, but I have to admit that watching the hordes of planes swarming in continually was pretty epic.
I dont think a man with 60+ planes to spare gives a monkeys ass about strategy anymore.
When you get this far into the game, you just gotta treat yourself to an airshow.
sometimes i would send 1 by 1 or 2 by 2 if it's against light enemy ships, having 3 planes with 6 heavy bombs to kill a rook is just a bit wasteful

Yeah, only ever bother with the T-7s. The LA-29s are too slow to deliver their ordinance before the enemy returns fire, you'll just go through them like copy paper. The T-7s are also more versatile and have ~ double the payload while only costing 30% more in terms of money and deck space, making them a better investment even before you factor in their massively superior survivability. If you're smart you can usually pull off most strikes with zero losses, unless they have Sprints.

They have that ace combat Anti-Air.
Because they are not allowed to use proximity shells, which they ironically use alot in combat. If the AI use proximity, carriers meta would be dead because unlike the AI, our Tarkhan is on a budget cut.

Holy fuck, this game's airstrikes need rebalancing. I'd really like the enemy to use better anti-air, because smashing everything to fuck with FAB-250s feels like cheating.
try fab 1000 it is way more fun that way
Almost as if having hundreds of small, fast, and precise planes is better than flying one slow ass box filled to the brim with explosive gas and has giant exposed weak-points.
@@addnamelater7762 There are slow ass flying box in the game the same reason there are aircraft carriers and naval cruisers IRL, planes need support and refueling and can't travel long distances especially in the mountainous Deserts of garat.
