Finallyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy. People are sleeping so bad on this song. One of those TF moments. But... when I heard the preview I also underestimated it. And when the album dropped, I made an obsession for it. The way he changed his voice in the beginning on purpose (as he told us during one of the streaming parties with him), those notes in "oooooooh", the dark and heavy atmosphere in spite of the cool beats, the "ain't me" parts, the refined baseline ... wowzers, exactly as you said. And yes... attack them. :D I guess they have no understanding of what is really great. Anyway for me its right there up with Standing Next To You. Objectively, the greatest. ;)

Wow. I hadn’t heard that the voice change in the beginning was deliberate. When I first heard it I kept rewinding it thinking that someone else was singing that part. Thanks for the info. His voice is amazingly versatile! Love that man!

I thought nothing could beat the live version of Somebody (which happened during his concert in Seoul), but yesterday evening he made a live on their weverse account and sang it acapella. My jaw was on the floor. As this is not an easy song. At all. Not without a backing track of some sort.
His vocal on this track is unreal. Showing off his incredible vocal range.

The percussion came in a beat before I expected it to, makes it different than any other song I've heard. Love it so much, it's my fav track from the album, can't stop listening to it. The melody is so catchy, the beat is so vibey and smooth, perfect while driving tbh, even though the vibeyness has me wanting to close my eyes while I groove 😅 It took me 19 sec with that first "ohhh" and immediately knew this was gonna be my fav. That chime really adds to the song, it does something that I can't quite explain, like a delicate feel, idk it has a satisfying effect..... basically everything you pointed out in the song, I noticed too😂😂
Edit: you mentioned "dainty", and yes, that's the adjective I was looking for with the chimey sound. I said delicate lol
Yeah it drops on the 4 instead of the 1, maybe that's why people are sleeping on this song idk, I love it though! Anyway I also knew VERY quickly this song was gonna be fire, sometimes songs just hit you like piano falling out of a window!

i used to listen to this kinda music back in 2014 with artist like cascade, darius, tom misch, joe hertz and yes dj snake (who now works with JK!)
i came back to my playlist and listen to Helios-darius-pomo remix it has surprising groovy ending, so good.

Yes and No, this song, Hate you & standing next to you and please don't change might be the ones at the top of the list but I love them all! He did an amazing job on this album.

This was definitely a stand out song for me after the first few listens of Golden. Somebody, Please Don't Change and Closer to you are my trifecta.

Also my favorite b-side track on a great album. Like DJ Jino said, it's a little weird and unpredictable and a total vibe~~ Definitely a great drive song and love that it's not so mainstream!
At first, Somebody was not my favorite on the album, (it started out being Standing Next to You). But over time, it definitely grew to be my number 1.
Also, you mentioned that one of the things you liked about the track is how unique it is, and also that it just sounds good. Both are definitely true. I have a feeling that people who understand (know, study, etc) music like and appreciate Somebody more than people who go for the vibe and sound. Maybe that could be the reason behind why this one was not recommended as much, or if at all.
By the way, a couple of other reactors before had mentioned a few instances of skipped beats (or something like that) that made the song sound trippy. If you take a closer listen, do you hear them too?
See I still have SNTY as my fav but this is def a top 3 song on the project for me! I don't understand how this is the least popular but you theory about it being a little to unique for the average listener is probably it. I'm a weird guy after all lol. I didn't hear the skipped beats but I do know that the percussion of the song drops at a very odd place for this song's time structure so maybe there are multiple weird things going on with this song which would explain why some people are put off by it.
I'm with both of you....the song structure is unique and probably why most don't like it, but for me, that's exactly why I love it. I loved it from the very first line with the lower vocal range and the effects on his voice. This is my second favorite song behind Closer To You on this album. That's just my opinion, though.

You may never see this since this is a reaction you did a year ago, but I still wanted to comment. So, I was watching "Jungkook The King of Acapella," the link is below if you haven't seen it. Well the second song is "Somebody." When I tell you I lost my mind like I'd never heard the song before in my life, believe me I lost my mind. After losing my mind, I thought let me go see what my favorite reactors said about this song. So I did a search and you came up, along with some others. Of course I immediately had to see your reaction! As always, I thoroughly enjoyed you! This song was everything...it slaps! Last November, when I first heard it, I had to restart it, over and over because I couldn't believe it was JK! To come across it again, a little over a year later, and to hear him sing it acapella, I literally screamed! I hope you see this and if you haven't heard him sing it acapella, please check it out.
...and I wish I could have jumped in the car, taking a drive to nowhere while listening to this, but I don't drive 🙁 hey maybe I could call an Uber🤔😆

ARMY be on some other stuff sometimes....ARMY'S favorite BTS song is Spring Day which doesn't even make it into the Top 20 for me!!! When I first heard 'Somebody' I knew it was the one!!!!!
That's valid, spring day has a lot of significance given the topic it covers so I get why it's beloved though
@AmariLeone 100% the song is a great tribute, but definitely not their best song. I listen to BTS because of the way they make me feel, and Spring Day makes me sad, I don't enjoy feeling that way, just my personal opinion. I'm a good vibes kinda girl l, and there are so many other songs that bring me good vibes.
The way your mind works is cool. Don't ever let anybody tell you different. A few things. I can't dance. I just can't. This does make me want to, though. And there are no freeways within 100 miles of me, probably, but I know the feeling you're talking about. I mean I used to love night driving. But JK. I like every song on the album. This song usually makes me bop along. Also Shot Glass of Tears but basically every single song. I do love Standing Next to You the most but you were asking about B-sides. I tend to ramble too, huh?

I love this song. I love deeper voiced JK. I am like you, I usually tend towards dance songs. Life is depressing enough. When I was younger, I used to love to wallow. I’m one of the people who loves this song. My problem is that my favorite song on this album seems to always be the one I’m presently listening to. I haven’t liked an entire album in years. Every song on this album ends up residing in me! These lyrics are a bit defiant and strong. It surprised me. It makes me want to move with my eyes closed!

The only problem with this song is that it is on an album with too many other even better songs. In time people will come to love it just as much as the others because it is nice, and the rhythm and lyrics are nice too.
