So this is Harvard, such a lovely neighborhood to live and study . Plenty of cafes and restaurants to ease your study blues . And close to plenty of public transportation no matter how you wish to travel excellent.
I visited Harvard University and bough some souvenirs at their official store, The Coop (AK actually passed the store at the 02:24 minute mark in the video. Lovely place - Loved it there.
Thanks! Many special memories. I had 2 great cooking jobs at Harvard. One was across the street from the famous Chef Julia Child. Who published many cooking books. Plus a tv cooking show from her house. I remember walking by each other walking to work!
Wow. This took me back! It's changed a lot since I moved to Colorado over 30 years ago! My Mom worked at the Bank next to the COOP for over 20 yrs. I used to park in the alley you pointed out, and pick her up after work when I was old enough to drive. I met the RAMONES at the COOP at a record signing. I didn't know who they were😂 I was watching to see if you'd show the Lampoon door. Good memories. Thanks. ❤
A very enjoyable tour of an area I've spent some time in so I recognized many of the buildings you showed in Harvard Square. Harvard has spread out beyond the area you showed. There are classroom buildings, laboratories, and some fascinating museums. My favorites are the Harvard Museum of Natural History with animal exhibits and glass flowers and the Peabody Museum with the archaeological artifacts and the world cultural exhibits. Many thanks!
At 23:05 the school library, if I am not mistaking one of the biggest library nation wide. The story goes that a huge donation was given some time then for the expansion of the library but the structure of the building couldn't be changed (ex. the look of the building couldn't be changed/modified), my understanding is that they expanded lower underground I forgot how many floors they added underground as a result of the donation (again, that is the history behind it). Correct me if I am wrong. City-Adven-Tours
Wow ak this is amazing finally got to see Harvard which i only see on movies and thanks to you for making it possible! Hope you feel better now and always stay safe 🎄☃️😀
1:05, 16:42, 19:06 AK, you're too funny with the "park your car in the Harvard yard" jokes. 😂 19:53 I guess people touched the shoe for good luck or grades. 😆 I'm impressed with Harvard University's campus and Harvard Square, and the whole area looks like a movie set! 😍 It's interesting how there's no Christmas decorations but I still enjoyed the scenery. Thank you so much for the Harvard tour, AK! 🤗
Action Kid probably makes more money doing these wonderful You Tube videos than most of these Harvard graduates. Best of all, no student loans to pay off.
Thank you for this video. I visited Harvard back in 2016 and roamed around pretty much the same places you're showing in this video. I'm getting nostalgic...
As a longtime listener to the Magliozzi brothers on NPR, I experience pleasant memories to see that the offices of their lawyers Dewy, Cheetham & Howe remain in Harvard Square (2:41 in the video, third floor window). At 5:30, the wooden chairs are of the style known as Adirondack chairs. Also, most U.S. secular universities do not put up seasonal decorations, especially if religion is involved. Also, decorating is expensive. I attended a small school sponsored by the Methodist Church, and I don't recall any school-sponsored displays aimed at Xmas or any other holiday. Some fraternities may have done up their houses for Xmas and Thanksgiving.
Most Universities don’t really do too much Christmas decorations because of most students and faculty members usually would go home during the holidays. Even foreign students would get invited to stay with friends or relative. Therefore, the university vicinities are very quiet with many businesses are also closed during the holidays. However, many universities do have a big outdoor Christmas Tree lit up during the Christmas season.
My thought was that they don't want to appear to be "too Christian" - politics and all = esp Harvard in recent times. They love being anti-establishment.
I miss the Border's Cafe right around the corner near the Harvard train station. Sadly, the building caught on fire and they never reopened. They served Mexican food and it was soooooo freakin good! I still think about it to this very day whenever I travel there.
Apparently there's 3 things not quite correct about the statue. (the statue of three lies) 1. Sherman Hoar sat for the sculpture as no likeness of John Harvard could be found. 2. Harvard was founded in 1636. 3. it was founded by the Great and General Court of the Massachusetts Bay Colony. John Harvard was a benefactor. Also, a tour guide was the one who came up with the idea that students rubbed his left foot for luck. Love the video, brings back memories as do lots of your walks. Thank you!!

A lot of scenes for the movie paper chase were filmed at the University of Toronto
Yearly tuition to Harvard...$52,659. I went to Ohio State University which was only 13000 per year.

Boston my beautiful Boston
I thought Harvard would be much nicer looking, that university you filmed in New York that was nice.
This is where Oliver Barrett IV went to school and fell in love with Jenny.
Didn't Oliver say to Jenny's father..."Loves means never having to say you are sorry?"
Are international students still studying in Boston or they stopped because of COVID ? Streets look empty.
Funny comment but is it true or just a prank ? 😳
@@bluetwo7282 This was recorded just a few days after Thanksgiving, so most students probably weren't on campus.
