My friend made me promise to do a True Pacifist Run first. She knew I wouldn’t be able to do a Genocide Run after that! Even if I was to do a Genocide Run I wouldn’t be able to kill Goat Mom, Papyrus and Mettaton! Hell I wouldn’t be able to even kill Goat Dad! Ok Muffet is actually pretty cool and that sounds weird for me to say because I have severe arachnophobia. Undyne even though she pissed me off but I would never kill her and again I gotta mention Mettaton. At first I thought he was annoying in the game but goddamn it the dude really grows on you after a while. Especially in this musical. I couldn't help but grow to love the guy. In other words my "Genocide Run" would be a Neutral Run. x.x
Even though I know if I do restart I'll just do another True Pacifist. That's IF I play Undertale again. Obviously I had to hug goat bro at the end. Poor kid needed a hug badly after all that he's been through.

They thought that he had killed the child.
The humans attacked him with everything they had.
He was struck with blow after blow.
Asriel had the power to destroy them all.
But...
Asriel did not fight back.
Clutching the human...
Asriel smiled, and walked away.
Wounded, Asriel stumbled home.
He entered the castle and collapsed.
His dust spread across the garden.
The kingdom fell into despair.
The king and queen had lost two children in one night.
The humans and once again taken everything from us.
The king decided it was time to end our suffering.
Every human who falls down here must die.
With enough souls, we can shatter the barrier forever.
It’s not long now.

You know, I just realized, Asriel is never directly mentioned by his name, nobody says it, other than the storytellers (who I don't think really count), even the soundtrack shows no mention of his name, he is mentioned as 'him', it shows how he really is gone and how hopeless everyone went, they don't want to mention him...

I would have thought that Toby didn’t use Asriel’s name in the soundtrack to prevent spoilers (Like how he added Song That Might Play When You Fight Sans to trick them)

@@CreativeDirector65 I believe that in particular is when asgore takes his own life, which occurs after sparing asgore twice I think? Maybe the game just decides to give players a small hint if they've gone through two playthroughs at that point

This song is so emotional, no matter the AU, no matter the time, no matter the Asriel, he always just wants Chara back, and wished he had fought back against the humans, and is always lost and confused, and then just throws himself away, to face depression all by himself, freeing everyone else, but letting them forget him just like it's nothing. I just wish there could be a time where EVERYONE including Chara, Asriel, AND Gaster, to just all come with the rest of the monsters, and be happy...

Can you imagine if Undertale the Musical was a real musical on stage? With these vocals? I would watch it over and over again.
While I would love this, it could be at least a little difficult production wise considering its acknowledgement of game mechanics and stuff. Like for the actual staging and stuff. The music works great and the story could be interesting too, but it'd just be kind of hard if not impossible to represent the battles very well and stuff, I think.

This. Just so many things about this were perfectly delivered. The beginning solo section was so regretful and sad, and beautiful in a haunting way. Then the muffled--
--sobbing broke my heart. Even once it transitioned into the duet, Asriel sounded like he was holding back crying while still trying to be strong, and Frisk's part of the duet was just so calm and comforting. It took me right back to that moment in the game, silently yelling at Frisk to not let him go...
Just...a wonderful job everyone.

This very song---this very youtube video---actually introduced me to Undertale in a way about a year ago. I met two friends online who went by Asriel and Frisk, not knowing their usernames were Undertale references for a while until my friend pointed it out. Not long after another friend posted this video in my discord chat, and I was impressed by this song, and shortly after my friends Azzy and Frisk got me interested in their characters in a non-spoilerish way (I didn't even know this song is a spoiler, if you consider it one). Not wanting to spoil the game since what I knew about it at the time already made it really appealing, I bought the game for myself. Now, here I am---literally obsessed with Undertale XD

At first I didn't cry, I thought the song was cool. But I began to remember events of the game and I began to cry, but not a tear but a real cry. It hasn't happened to me with something fictitious for years. I think what moved me the most was seeing how Frisk can forgive everyone, even someone who wanted to keep the souls of all his friends, that made me cry a lot.

You can notice Asriel and Frisk fighting during this song, but not in a physical way. Their opinions of what is supposed to happen now are clashing hence them singing at the same time, but with different lyrics. They literally have a thug of war.
While Frisk remains calm, it is clear that Asriel is struggling and sometimes just shouts attempting to gain dominance. However he slowly but changes his favor from "Leave me alone, I deserve no mercy" to "Stay with me".
Despite that, it is more important to come to this conclusion by paying attention to the way they are conveying their feelings instead of what exactly they are saying, which is a rather difficult task when listening to this song only once. You need to replay it at least one time to catch the full lyrics.
I love this detail which makes this musical so unique because we are used to listen to verbal fights in songs where both contestants are letting the other speak without interrupting. This happens in most Disney movies or even in rap battles.
I love this video, very well done.

This is one of my favorite tracks in this musical and also Undertale in general. I could tell listening to Hopes and Dreams that Atwas is a belter and that if she let it rip she could give her singing a powerful emotional punch. This song proves that suspicion as Asriel's cries get more intense near the end, and the feels start punching.

It's been six years since this came out and I only just found it...and only just realized that when Frisk joins in at 1:56 , their first two lines of lyrics are the same as Asriel's first lyrics in "Memory":

On an unrelated note, Asriel's VA is 110% the best Asriel voice I've ever heard. That harmonization was just too beautiful.

Personally i think that Asriel's voice overpowers Frisks, its hard to hear what Frisk is saying unless you read the subtitles.
But besides that, i loved this, i got chills.
I actually enjoyed that, it made it feel like Frisk was really focusing on just soothing Asriel rather than trying to make any sort of conversational point.
Im bawling, this song hurts so much and i can't believe it hit so hard today - the dreemers are absolutely crushing me in the feels
