I remember learning this concept from Bruce Lees Tao of Jeet Kun Do book as well. He also believed you should tense the knuckles at the end of the punch 🥊
I’ve honestly took it too the extreme lol sometimes I don’t even close my hand all the way at all now I think it’s alright when wearing big gloves throwing a flicker jab but I even do it on power shots sometimes lol it’ll bite me one day :( got some smaller gloves to practice making sure I stop
Be honest with me. I like Thomas Hearns style with flicker jabs and chopping rights, but I'm 5'9" tall with a 73in of reach. Do you think I can outbox like he did?
I was wondering whether i should use a style similar to peekabo because i am pretty strong and my thing is ro push forward, but it also makes me think that i am slower than i can be. On the other hand i am worried that i am to opened for shots. Any advice on what guard to use?
What they were probably saying is that if you mistime it and your hand is still not closed when you land you can hurt yourself. Which is true, but that's why you practice on the bag first before using it on moving targets
you have to be impressed with how technical these boxers were, having to think about so much while doing small things to get. the best result
Nice tip. When I teach this to my clients I tell them to pretend they're catching a fly
Mr miyagi, that you?
That's actually a faster way to learn the jab. Nice one
hajime no ippo already taught me this
Real
Facts I love that show
I think Thomas Hitman hearns did the flicker jabs better

depends on your weigth class and your opponents reach its better to figth at a medium range not too close and not too far
rotating your fists at the end also adds some extra power
Amazing how ppl misunderstanding flicker jab. Was named because flicking water off glove. If can’t flick water off glove not a flicker jab
I learned this and it’s golden
I had a wicked fast repeating jab -in my youth (to be clear 😂)
But how i avoid getting my elbow hyperextended at throwing straight punches??

Oooh. Bruce Lee stuff
I like stiff jabs tho😂. Its great for countering, it knocks them back.😂
WOW WOW WOW, sitting down and trying it already feels lighter like my arm weighs less 😂👍🏼
De la hoya also says this. Its true
He does indeed 🔥
nice
I’ve heard you can hurt your hand by closing it on impact. Is that true?
So keep it open?
