Many warm thanks, dear friend! Actually this was one of the funnest paintings. The blues and greens just made magic on the paper and the white made quite the pop without hardly having to work. So much fun to paint birds and nature, even if it's with a bit of whimsy once in a while, lol! Thinking of you and wishing you a fabulous week, dear Irene 🥰🥰🥰
Great explanation & visual comparison of the gouache compared with the Ecoline. I guess it all depends what effect you're looking for. I find it amazing how different products can behave so differently in a similar environment. And the llama looks lovely too - I love how the white is a bit transparent to give it a bit of a wispy magical look.
Thanks, Donna! Actually this was a bit of a learning curve for me as I hadn't clearly identified why I preferred Ecoline but then would sometimes reach for the gouache. And yeah, the whispy is from the ink and the soft and blurry tends to be more from the gouache. I think I'll combine them more in the future. Their effects so complement 🤗🤗

Hi Robbie! Good to see you! And lol, my channel is plodding along! Hope you are racing to the top! And thanks for checking out my gouache and ink tutorial! 🤗🤗
Wow! You always take an effort to discuss your materials and medium. When I was learning to draw and paint, my teacher always say that the medium doesn't make an artist. So even today, I always grab and use any materials that are available to me, especially now that I am in China and medium selection here is quite limited. Really appreciate all your insights about watercolor techniques. Very helpful and instructive. Enjoyed your beautiful painting process! Amazing art as always, my dear friend 👍👍👍❤❤❤🥰🥰🥰
Big smile, Jgesim, and I would agree in part with the teacher. The artist has skills and can utilize many materials, but great materials are a benefit to an artist and can increase his/her repertoire, and I'm thankful I have the some wonderful choices in our Korean art store .... more choices by far than any American art store I've ever been to. If you ever visit Korea, Seoul has 3 incredible art stores, all with different emphasis, but if you're wanting a wide selection of watercolor and acrylics, Hangaram at the Express Bus Terminal underground has the BEST! But until, with your heart put whatever medium on the canvas 🤩🤗🥰!!!
Your tutorial is amazing and interesting!😍 The alpaca is so adorable that I'd like to paint it too. Your background is fantastic as usual. It's good to learn the similarities and differences of the three kinds of white. Thanks 😊 🙏
Hi so after I saw that you did not get my comment, I came in to visit you and sure enough you had one come out. I need to see if it something with me, why I am not getting notified or maybe I am and it is with a lot of others I get notifications on - might be me needing to be more on top of it lol. So I went back and watched the wet on wet, which is amazing to me. I am so in aww at how you explain and the instructional part on the paints, I am so not familiar with any of that so this was a very educational video as well. Again that little spark in the eyes of all that you create are what intrigues me the most with your work. When I look at your work, I can almost see what they are thinking and it is always something positive, warming and welcoming - that is right up my alley, I am an optomist by nature - thank you for your ❤🤍💙 work and friendship
Hi Lori, I'm thinking it might not be you as my views from friends this time was particularly low, so don't knock yourself. I'm thinking of other strategies now to market my work. YT is a clear fail. But whee, thank you for such thoughtful comments. I'm actually thinking this is one of my best paintings but I just couldn't leverage SEO on it. Too bad, huh? Ah well, it'll look good in the ranks and I can link viewers to in as a tips and tricks tool. And oh yes, I'm an optimist too! I love that about you and your energy and the spontaneity that you present your art! So fun to listen and learn :) And now wishing you more happy pouring! Work and friendship, love it! 🤗🤗
This was a great white study Cheryl! I think that we all have struggles with white on watercolor paintings. I was watching this with great attention and learned a lot! And of course, your Alpaca turned out gorgeous! 🤩🤩😍 thank you so much for this experience! 🥰
Thank you, Mary! I've been using both mediums for a while and knew I had a preference but while painting I finally could pinpoint why I usually preferred the Ecoline ink. Hugs to you! BTW, check out MiMi's Life--Artistic Creation. You guys painted almost identical portal scenes. I mentioned the same to her when I bumped into her painting yesterday. Hugs, dear Mary. Your art is AWESOME 🤗
Super big art hug, dear Nina, and I never thought of him as "fantasy" until someone else said the same. Oh sigh, wasn't my intention but a fantasy alpaca hiding in my closet could be pretty cool - lol! Hope your week is awesome, dear friend 🤩🤩🥰🥰
Hello Cheryl, there is clearly a difference in those whites how they react and I have to admit I am a bit partial for the blurry, misty effect of the gouache. Of course it depends on the purpose or what kind of effect you want to achieve but I love the background that seems to be inhaled by the alpaca or maybe it's the other way around in these clouds or mist one can see the head of an alpaca. It's a wonderful atmosphere you created, you portrayed these big big eyes of the alpacas perfectly and it's just adorable! Really lovely result and I am always surprised how much product knowledge there is one should be aware of! Have a great week and big artsy hug, Erika
Big hi, Erika, and you write so poetically! "A background inhaled by the alpaca"! Love those kinds of lines. And misty lines do describe the allure of gouache so much better than the filaments created by the ink. I'm a bit partial to the ink as it's more opaque and I do have a very splash-your-way-through-the-painting style, but the for blending and bokeh effect, the gouache is the clear winner! Have to say that before this experiment, I didn't clearly know for myself why I had an Ecoline preference. Learned a lot and still surprised the gouache got thinner fine lines the ink .... I'm going to be retesting that. It doesn't logically make sense to me, or maybe it's because my preference in opaque white is being trumped by another product. LOL, I'll have to explore this more! Huge creator hugs to you, Erika, and wishing you a fine return to spring 🤗🤩🥰
This has to be the most flamboyant alpaca I have ever seen, and your brush strokes seemed to emphasize that! I've used permanent white gouache as far back as I can remember but really want to try new things. I love the filament effect of the ink. I must say I am very happy you have joined me on the Light Side!! 🤍🤍🥰😇
Thanks for great comments, and hahaha, we were thrown on the Light Side ... which I'm pretty happy with as I don't like painting with dark colors. Have you a plan yet ... or will it remain a surprise? 😂😄🤩
Ecoline or Holbine the Alpaca looks amazing and that's the most important thing, but the comparison of paints and the ultimate inference is also important for a good painting, and you have done a great job in both these aspects, just love it Cheryl, keep doing what you do best, please stay safe and keep connected dear friend🍁🌸🍁
Many thanks, Mustafa, and was so happy to see you upload again! You have such a wonderful technique with watercolors and I so love your earthy color choices of late! And this one was so much fun. A big tip, my friend, if you want to be sustainable, you might consider uploading product reviews and art hauls (gag) as that's what people want to see and they return to watch again, or others come long after posting. Hope all is well, and wish you the best!!! 🤗
Dear Friend Cheryl!^^ It's such a cute alpaca! ^^ I am always moved by the qualities of your great teacher! You can feel your deep consideration in every little detail of your video! In particular, the white use of gouache and ink must be the result of a lot of research. Your ability to produce fantastic results shines! 😁👍
My dear friend Ajae, warm thoughts for appreciating my alpaca painting! I know you do watercolor too, and marvelously, but I don't remember if you use whites for touch up at the end or not. I've often used it but not until I actually did this painting showcasing the similarities and differences did I concretely now why I had a preference for the Ecoline. Fascinating study for myself, and hopefully helpful for others. Appreciate your comments, and wow do I love your control of the brush when you do watercolor. I can sit for hours and watch the tip of a brush when people control the medium like you do. Smiles, thanks, and wishing you a fabulous week, dear friend 🤗🤩🥰
It's magical, I love what I see. I look at this with a child's soul and my eyes are dazzled!!!!! Congratulations Cheryl for your superb work! LyDia ♫♪♫

Thanks 😊 🙏
Thank you, my friend, and the alpaca is just so adorable you'll have fun painting him/her too! Happy painting and doing your amazing calligraphy 🥰🥰
That's the coolest alpaca I have seen, what a painting!!
Thank you for such a warm comment! I've just been hugged! LOL! Wishing you a fantastic day, my friend 🤩🤩
This is amazing artwork. Love this beautiful colors.
Many thanks, dear Varsha! Really appreciate your smile 🤗🤗
@@AnimalArtbyTerraCotta wow! I will check her out! thank you 🤗
Hi there ....is it really painting or you're doing a magic 🤣🤣🙈..it's so magical for me 👏👏🥰🥰

Super Adorable Alpaca and his fantasy looks💝 All of your works have an attractive backgrounds and I love seeing that💝 Big Big Hugs dear TerraCotta💝

@@AnimalArtbyTerraCotta No plan yet, currently familiarising myself with the films!! 😆
Wonderful artwork. Beautiful painting🌹

Dear Friend Cheryl!^^
It's such a cute alpaca! ^^
I am always moved by the qualities of your great teacher!
