@@mgee1723 I disagree with everyone he says and the fact he thinks O’Shea Jackson kept ice in the Chinese order sums up how mental his thinking process is
Long Beach Poly was rated the greatest high school athletic program in the country by Sports Illustrated once. Also, the school has produced more NFL players than any high school in the country. Don’t sleep on The Beach.
as a lb local and simmons' stan since his boston sports guy days, my year was made listening to him say that long beach is the most underrated city in CA.
Just watched it on Netflix. Holy shit, the ending. I’ve never seen a movie that’s so genuinely good and charmingly bad at the same time. Gerard Butler is insane in it, but the mechanics of the heist from beginning to end (stealing the truck and money to return it into the Fed at the end) is so sharp.
This is a good one. Got a nitpick and a what's aged the worst. Singletary wore 50 and Booker made it past the WCF way before 34 LOL. Big fan. Thanks for what you guys do
C.R. said he remembers someone being thrown on a flat-top grill before and Simmons and Shea question him, but doesn't that happen at the bar in Terminator 2? When he tosses ya boy over the counter
Worst "half-assed internet research" ever. So many missed opportunities. Ringer needs to realize not all listeners of their movie podcast are sport fanatics.
I'm unsure about my thoughts on this episode due to the conflicting tones of this discussion. Shea generally loves this movie and isn't afraid to show his unabashed and unironic adoration of the film. Chris and Bill, on the other hand, seem to be afraid or at least cautious about admitting their 100% genuine in adoration.
Just watched Den of Thieves on Netflix. Came directly here. Perfect movie, no question. But picking nits on the podcast: Singletary was #50 not #55 (that was Lance Briggs) Why would he go to London to see Manchester City?
This was one of my favorite premieres I've ever attended. Actually got to say hi to Gerard (saw him again months later) and O'Shea. Also bumped into Mark Canton heading into the bathroom.
Can we all agree that what Singer and Spacey did was abhorrent and not to be glossed over or ignored, however, The Usual Suspects is a Masterpiece and Rewatchable.
I don't even mind that the final action scene is inspired by Heat. That's fine. It's a genre movie so all its nods to genre are fine but absolutely every character in it was despicable. But then at the end they tried to pull some, "I guess we're just two sides of the same coin." Redemption bullshit at the end. Eff this movie.
At best its a good bad movie. So the fed reserve is the most secure bank in the world but they happen to gave an air ven't that goes from the count room to the bathroom?? And thats just one of many gaping plot holes.
I think the hole would be not putting a sensor on the grate itself. Having its own dedicated hvac could a couple hundred grand minimum and I could see them cutting that out to save costs with them thinking that whoever enters the building is verified so they could track them. The bigger hole is them allowing delivery without an escort. Battele(the company that came up with the tech to sanitize masks) is a science company that does experiments for the government has a policy that no one is allowed in the building without an escort and I think it would apply for this building.
Thank you for bouncing back after that Mr. Mom trainwreck. What the fuck was that anyway? That episode was the podcast equivalent to the Seahawks not running the ball. Just choose awesome rewatchable movies and talk about them it's simple, no need to get all cute with it and pick old ass movies that have aged badly and no one cares about. P.s I'm glad Chris and Shea are back.
Not sure what these guys are talking about when calling O’Shea an “incredibly gifted actor”. He and 50 cent stuck out like sore thumbs amongst real actors. 50 was obviously way worse, and I’ve seen O’Shea act much better in other movies. But this is not a great performance imo
Firstly the pc is enjoyable. This episode my jaw is still on the floor that you guys have so much to say about this turkey. Saw it in the theater , chasing that HEAT vibe like everybody else, and spent the entire time wondering if I should just cut my losses. Such a waste. Everything about is lazy- the writing, the acting quote unquote, the action. Snooze. But enjoyable conversation. And speaking of Snooze you guys had a weakest link in your midst this episode. 3 guesses and the first 2 don't count. Shea, my man, you're not cutting it here. I mean holy smokes, the lack of any coherent logic to your opinions or quote unquote thoughts. Damn. Shea was not fun.
I finally got around to watching Den of Thieves last night simply because these guys talk about it so much and my fucking god is it bad. The film would have been improved significantly had literally anyone other than Gerard Butler played his role and that accent from O'shea at the end is the worst I have ever heard.
Den may or may not have rewatchable scenes, but it's not a good film. It's clearly a vastly inferior ripoff of Heat, with inferior acting/actors, writing, direction, and implausible action scenes, including the opening. The supposed Los Angeles setting isn't LA, and didn't even look ANYTHING like LA! The movie should've been retitled "Den of Heat Ripoff". No police department, not even the LAPD, will engage in huge fights willy nilly on the fly with armed gangs....also, the ripping off to-be-destroyed-old-bills concept has been done previously, so I'm a bit surprised that Simmons didn't know about this. There are Federal Reserve Banks in LA (and many other big cities), so it's obvious that the "half-ass internet research" done by CR didn't cover that, nor did even the filmmakers bothered to research the actual research on Fed Reserve security. The movie is just completely unrealistic.
I normally agree with Bill and his team and their Rewatchables takes. But this is just a bad movie, that lives on a few moments and borrowed stuff from better movies.
I hated this movie. Every character in this movie, except O'Shea Jackson Jr., is despicable! There's no one to identify with, they're all trash! But then they pulled this Heat/Oceans 11 shit at the end and we're supposed to be charmed by it? Fuck this movie!
Couple things here.... Den of theives sucks. Like, it was on tv today and i decided to watch it for the first time because of this pod and i was not surprised by how bad it was because most of the movies on this podcast ARENT rewatchable at all and suck. 2nd. Shea sucks. He brings nothing to these poscast. He's the ultimate yes man
this is such a shea serrano movie
Shea is a caricature imo
@@mgee1723 I disagree with everyone he says and the fact he thinks O’Shea Jackson kept ice in the Chinese order sums up how mental his thinking process is
Can’t wait for the re-den of thieves
Don't forget Willie McGinest, Tony Gwynn, Chase Utley, Snoop Dogg, Nate Dogg, Warren G and Cameron Diaz all went to LB Poly!
Thank you. C'mon, Ringer, throw some respect on the entire Long Beach Unified School District.
Long Beach Poly was rated the greatest high school athletic program in the country by Sports Illustrated once. Also, the school has produced more NFL players than any high school in the country. Don’t sleep on The Beach.
Just saw the trailer to Den of Thieves 2 looks awesome
That's why I came back here! Lol

Pablo Schreiber also plays a total psychopath over multiple seasons of Law & Order: SVU. And he narrated an audiobook of American Psycho.
He was INSANE on SVU
Loved the whole film, and podcast. Lewis Tan as the lobby security guard is underrated.
i watched this movie for the first time on amazon prime video and wow this was a great bad movie. Loved every second.
Perfectly said. A *great* bad movie.
FYI: Currently on Netflix.
Do a "To Live &Die in LA". Awesome movie
No mention of how INCREDIBLE Evan Jones's depiction of a white SoCal gangster-type is. His clothing and especially his WALK. He was 100% spot on.
This is a good one. Got a nitpick and a what's aged the worst. Singletary wore 50 and Booker made it past the WCF way before 34 LOL. Big fan. Thanks for what you guys do
As a movie buff, I can really appreciate this!! I love the part where he whips out the SAW aka m249 on the hood of the Tahoe and let's it rip!!
Pablo Schrieber and The Rock did fight in the movie 'Skyscraper'
Make a ‘Ms Doubtfire’ rewatchable!
Miss Doubtfire is the ONLY movie I have ever watched where a guy dressed up like a woman. Love Robin Williams.
Long Beach is it's own thing! Long Beach Poly is a juggernaut. If you know, then you know💯
C.R. said he remembers someone being thrown on a flat-top grill before and Simmons and Shea question him, but doesn't that happen at the bar in Terminator 2? When he tosses ya boy over the counter
Shea with the Rififi mention. Not enough people know of that movie. Highly recommended.
i AM A FAN.....this is a rewatchable
The Wolf of Wall Street has a big Benihana sequence, but less about the restaurant and more about the empire falling apart.
Amazing movie
Worst "half-assed internet research" ever. So many missed opportunities.

48:58 I thought his name was a play on Robin hood and his ‘Merry Men’
1:00:22 the rock was the bad guy in the mummy 2
Another great episode boys!
Just watched Den of Thieves on Netflix. Came directly here. Perfect movie, no question. But picking nits on the podcast:

Why would he go to London to see Manchester City?
I got the impression Nicks wife had been cheating on him and he never knew.
There are three MMA fighters in it, Oleg Taktarov, Max Halloway and Michael Bisping, which makes it even more enjoyable for me.
21:05 - 23:12 the intro bro in LA
was it generic hat day at the Ringer? Great Pod though :)
Lol
This was one of my favorite premieres I've ever attended. Actually got to say hi to Gerard (saw him again months later) and O'Shea. Also bumped into Mark Canton heading into the bathroom.
Why are they all wearing caps?
y'all know den of thieves has a sequel...coming next year
Bill definitely didn't see Devin Booker playing in a finals 1 year after filming this. Also Shea Serrano is the best, bring him back
Shea is just so cool. Don’t know what exactly it is but that is just a cool guy.
Can we all agree that what Singer and Spacey did was abhorrent and not to be glossed over or ignored, however, The Usual Suspects is a Masterpiece and Rewatchable.
Yo Bill going IN on Shea tho
Wait, did Shea reference the French classic Rififi? Color me shocked.
Also, that was Victor F$&king Newman from The Young and the Restless at that bar telling Big Nick Donnie is gone. Put some Respek.
Hi rewatchables and ringer please do hackers
Where is Russillo?
1:08:39 ahahaha

They did not take this movie seriously
The Rock is slated to play Black Adam, a villain in the DC Universe, who is also Shazam's greatest enemy.
At best its a good bad movie. So the fed reserve is the most secure bank in the world but they happen to gave an air ven't that goes from the count room to the bathroom?? And thats just one of many gaping plot holes.

I havent seen this movie yet

Bill definitely had an irritated edge on this episode
He didn’t like CR hosting and it showed. Tons of talking over each other. CR isn’t a good point guard, he’s best as a role player.
Bill man, love you but you look a little Big Nick in this video, hungover with drunk cheeks.
Bill is not enjoying this.
These Ringerers are three guys who NOTHING about firearms.
The Rock was the villain in Get Smart
This had the potential to be a "The Town" rewatchable pod... but came up short..... needed Russillo badly...
Yeah they needed another white west coast male

Get some Benihana in the movie 40 ur old virgin and I think Beverly Hills ninja
This movie is a very very very very very poor mans version of Heat

Loser
You bite your tongue. It's incredible
Terribad
Do anyone other than these three guys actually care about this movie?

Wacthed the movie mostly because it was on rewatchables. Was dissapointing and the pod didnt convince me otherwise as well.
Just three bald guys wearin hats
The dialogue in heat is awful. Barettes scenes. Amy breneman dialogue to de niro
Couple things here....
