Have you seen James Blackwood, the raccoon whisperer, here in Nova Scotia? He feeds raccoons every night on his back deck - lots of them! They are usually fed hotdogs and grapes but sometimes they get a treat of pizza or cookies. They are beautiful looking animals but cheeky and destructive. Love your videos, Patrick. Thank you for the joy you bring, especially with the bears.❤️🇨🇦

The winter weather did not wipe out harmful insects for squirrels and raccoons so mange is prevalent. We humans will have to deal with more insects too. Patrick, thank you for your care and concern for our wildlife.

definitely contact your local wildlife department. they can give the raccoon something to help if it is mange. it can be highly contagious too depending on what type it is.

There is also the possibility of being caught in a trap (or another animals jaws) and wrenching the tail out and skinned the tail, which leaves the possibility the hair will not grow back. I have never seen an animal with the suggested mange that did not affect other areas of the coat and this guy has a beautiful coat of fur!
@@LambieSamba his tommy his also partly hairless.. Mange starts at one point and progresses.. But a skin disease may not be necessarily mange it can also be something else or due to hormonal deficiency. . There are so many skin pathologies looking similar like in human dermatology.
