      @JasonCareyGuitar such a time saver when learning when you can quickly find quality video or transcription. I'm old enough to remember the days of picking up the needle on the record player over and over. Lol

      @@kennyking1965 Oh yeah, now you're talking. For me, it was cassette. Getting one note, then rewind, then press play, the listen to one more note, then locate it on the guitar, my primary instrument at the time - and still is. We learned, in music school about people like you, who would drop the needle and get it DONE. Thank you so much for chiming in on this one, it is much appreciated. BTW checked out your channel and was blown away! Happy Picking bro.-Jason

    u love the sound your getting out of your gear! can you share your tell us what your settings are?

    • @JasonCareyGuitar
      @JasonCareyGuitar  Год назад +1

      Thanks for your comment, @carpplumber! I'm thrilled to hear that you're enjoying the sound.
      Gear Settings: I'm using a Vintage Icons Tele with a custom leather pick guard which feels great, also Fralin Blues Special TELE pickups, with George L's cabling and a Fender Champion 110, and my settings for this sound are just a little gritty. Remember that these settings can be a great starting point, but don't hesitate to experiment and adjust them to suit your own preferences and the acoustics of your space. Oh, guitar is mic'd with a '57 ;) and run into Logic.
      I hope this helps you achieve the sound you're looking for. If you have any more questions or need further details, feel free to ask! Keep rocking 🎸.

    Why is nobody mentioning the half-step tuning? Iz at the way it's written? If so, why not explain that right up front? If not, why are you tuned a half step off standard?

    • @JasonCareyGuitar
      @JasonCareyGuitar  3 месяца назад +1

      Thank you for your question about the tuning, @BillHinerman. You're correct that the guitar is tuned a half-step down from standard tuning in this tutorial. I actually mentioned this in the video description, but I understand it might have been easy to miss.
      To clarify for everyone: The original recording of 'Try That In A Small Town' by Jason Aldean is in E-flat, which is achieved by tuning all strings down a half-step from standard tuning. That's why I used this tuning in the tutorial.
      I appreciate you bringing this up in the comments. It's a good reminder that I should emphasize important details like tuning both in the video and the description. In future tutorials, I'll try to make this information more prominent.
      Thanks for your attention to detail and for helping me improve the clarity of my lessons. If you have any other questions, feel free to ask!

    Also, is there a reason you're playing those leads way up the neck on the thicker stri gs instead of down the neck on the higher strings? I generally find that the guitar sounds better with the longer strings. Is this significant? Is i5 because you jump on octave on the answer licks? Many thanx

    • @JasonCareyGuitar
      @JasonCareyGuitar  3 месяца назад +1

      Thanks for your follow-up question, @BillHinerman. I appreciate your interest in the details of the technique.
      You're right to notice that I'm playing the lead parts higher up the neck on the thicker strings. There are a few reasons for this:
      𝗧𝗼𝗻𝗲: While it's true that higher strings often provide a brighter tone, playing leads on the thicker strings can give a fuller, warmer sound that fits well with the style of this particular song.
      𝗔𝘂𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗶𝗰𝗶𝘁𝘆: I'm aiming to replicate the sound of the original recording as closely as possible. This positioning seems to match the tone in Jason Aldean's version.
      𝗢𝗰𝘁𝗮𝘃𝗲 𝗷𝘂𝗺𝗽𝘀: As you've astutely observed, some of the answer licks do involve octave jumps, which are easier to execute in this position.
      𝗣𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗽𝗿𝗲𝗳𝗲𝗿𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲: Sometimes, it's simply a matter of what feels comfortable or natural to the player.
      That said, you make a great point about the sound of leads on the higher strings. In many cases, that would be my go-to approach as well. Music is flexible, and there's often more than one 'right' way to play something.
      Thanks for your thoughtful questions. They not only help me explain my choices better but also encourage viewers to think critically about different playing techniques. Keep the great questions coming!

      Hi @becky fair ! Yes, for “Try That In A Small Town” by Jason Aldean, we’re playing in E flat standard tuning (Eb Ab Db Gb Bb eb). It gives the song that signature sound. Enjoy playing along! -Jason

    why has nobody mentioned even the video or the guy giving a lesson here that he tuned down a half step? That would be nice to know upfront lol great video unfortunately in a real world where we tune for 440 we need to make it a little more practical which cancels out a few of those great chords.

    • @JasonCareyGuitar
      @JasonCareyGuitar  9 дней назад +1

      Hey @klvs2ply, thanks for pointing that out! You're absolutely right-Jason Aldean often tunes down a half step in his performances, and I should have mentioned that upfront. I’ll definitely make that clearer in future lessons.
      For those sticking with standard 440 tuning, you can still play the same shapes and chords, but the sound might be slightly different compared to Aldean's version. I’m glad you enjoyed the video otherwise! Thanks again for your feedback, and happy picking! 🎸
