- dio routing Mpc X , Ableton, iPad from Allen + Heath Qu 32 Usb Mixer
This is an overview of a monster mixer. In this video I will demonstrate the way it is used in my set up. Routing audio to several destinations is easy with this machine. Ableton, Mpc X, iPad, iPhone all have separate mix outs. Let’s dig in a little and check it out
Early days of Mr. Create. I watched this today for the first time since the day it was posted, wow!, bring up the energy kid!, 😂 I’m still here to help! Qu 32 may be the most BEASTLY OF ALL MIXERS
i have a MPC Live and a macbookpro with Logic pro x and was thinking on getting the QU 24... can it be set up to controll the MPC X DAW just like you would Logic?....and can u get creative with it, my style is Lo Fi sample based hip hop...ure input would be appreciated🙏🏽
HiiiPower ya everything should be ok, to the best of my knowledge. One thing is for sure, using logic and a MacBook with this mixer would be perfect. It has auto mapping two MacBook. I had to set everything up manually because I am on PC. Should be pretty much plug and play and then MPC software should open up in logic as a plug-in right? But, I prefer to route the audio to my MPC and stay out of the DAW. There’s all kinds of ways you can do it and it’s very creative
Just discovered this mixer 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🇨🇦👊🏿 love the set up
Ya dude it’s a beast. Still use it every day and a couple times a week on live streams, Never failed me once. ✌🏼
What you said in the end inspired me this morning. Thanks man, I needed that booster shot.
Roland Jones very glad to hear this! You have just made -MY- day! Keep being creative and never give up. Keep in touch
That's one serious mixer! I dig the different routing scenes and how the faders change with the saved scene.
+Matthew Stratton ya man! It’s a lot like your with a few extras. They are the next wave of tech that all companies are going to copy, and all people will want
Great video bro, I'm going to look into that mixer thanks for sharing your knowledge.
You will not be disappointed. I only had it for a few weeks when I did the video for a friend. It’s so much deeper and more flexible then i thought. If you ever need help hit me up
10000% awesome - thx bro. nice setup -.#
🙏🏼💯👊🏼
I think I'm going to buy the QU-32
Quick question, anyway to send and receive multiple channels between the MPC and A&H mixing routing via USB.
Nice words dude.
Would love to collaborate, I have the Hydrasynth, GR-1 and HD-01 Pērkons to name a few.
I think this mixer is the way to go.
Had to come back to his on.
Damn lol I need to take some speed or some shit lololol why am I so boring? Lol I’m out here acting crazy now
As I cant afford a mixer like that, I dont use a mixer at all. I use Cubase 9.5 rerecording software, then the inputs are going thru a Focusrite Clarett 4pre USB interface and I control the DAW by a Behringer X Touch Universal Control surface. It acts just like a mixer with out having any inputs in it itself. Using mackie control, then I can control ALL the features of the recording software with the control surface. It does have midi in out thou. So I have 4 really good Clarett preamps and 4 line inputs on the back of it. The Clarett 4pre has optical in, so I can add more inputs at a latter time if I so choose. Thats my set up.
That’s an awesome and innovative way to do things. Super creative and I always love to hear creative workflows. Any vids on the setup? That’s some good info people couldlearn from. Keep in touch. I’m doing a live stream Series of inspiring and innovative people in music. Might be a cool collab!
I def need a usb mixer
Mac Joseph this one is a freakin monster
Does QU32 allow line level inputs?
Or are you using PAD on line level inputs?
Yeah I plug everything in. Instruments, microphones, iPads, doesn’t matter. Even my modular system and my acoustic drum set is also mic’d
Nice board Bro I bet it has all types of FX's on it? I'm still rocking a Roland VS 2480 DVD routing to my MPC Ren due to the Digital I/O
ILL REEL thank my brother. I haven’t gotten into the Fx because everything I have has fx already but if you want I could do a vid. Also, if you ever wanna chat or have any questions we got a Community of artists. Keep in touch
No Doubt, I really appreciate you...
No problem. We are working together everyday. Making sound packs, sharing sounds, just a supportive group. Hit me up anytime for anything
Get the MPC Live bro sell the Ren
If I get anything it would be the X but it needs those Digital in's & out's 4 me to do that... unless the Akai 2.2 & up becomes way to complex to be compatible with my Ren... The only upgrade to the hardware is more LED colors the LED on the Q-Links & a XY screen lol Other wise I got it all right at the tip of my fingers plus Digital I/O to run in & out of my Digital Patch Bays...
Im trying to route through usb b to the computer to Streamlabs but the sound comes out pretty low and I can’t figure out how to fix this If I move the master volume it does goes louder but also here the speakers go louder is there a way to have them separate I have a qu 32
Use mix out 9/10 for your monitors. Not the main left and right. Then you can have individual control over the volume of the monitors by moving fader on mix 9/10
hi there . I have bought the qu32 also and I'm trying to record the inbox fx in ableton from the mixer and also want to use and record the compressor, gate from the mixer . but how must i route it on the the mixer to my daw?
You have to use insert on the lcd screen. You are able to use 2 Fx inserts on any 2 input channels. If you need fx on more than 2 inputs you will need to use a more complicated routing matrix. I don’t use more then 2 because all my gear has fx But you would set it up like any old-school analog mixer with sends and returns
Hi there I have solved iT intern fx and extern fx thnx for your reply 👍👍👍
duo I'm using extern gear going into my input channel but i can't record the fx from my mixer into my daw . How must i route it in my mixer to my daw?
Great video... thanks bro
Bullet Tooth Tone thank you soo much!! Hope it was helpful
Can these faders physically follow the automations recorded within Ableton on playback? Cheers
Yes they can. With DAW control and a midi map
@@OddPilot_ Thanks very much indeed! You'd get a massive appreciation from every user of this model if you could make a demonstration (tutorial) on how to have it up & running, as there are not straight forward instructions or answers on the internet regarding the mapping with a DAW for the time being. Or if you could point me out to a trustworthy source, that will do too. I'm planning on buying the Qu-24 and use it with Ableton.
Tibi Pater It might seem very complicated. When you plug in your mixer to your computer and download the dog control and the drivers, it will show up in Ableton as a midi controller. Then you just have to click the midi button to turn on “learn“ in Ableton and then use your mouse to highlight a tracks volume fader Then, move the physical Fader on Qu. That’s it man. Once you order me the volume, your faders will move accordingly. Qu is also a GIANT midi controller But it operates on midi channel 15 and 16 I think. That part is important
@@OddPilot_ Cheers!
Hi Will! Many thanks for the way you share knowledge, music & create community! I'm writing you for ask about if is possibile to make the "Routing system" with the Akai force, and being able to control and record different synth?! I'm deciding to have this mixer in the studio, but still looking for comparison about daw integration and record multitrack standalone system; do you have any advice?! Best Wishes :) Giovanni
Can you also map the mixer on Ableton for recording, playback of signal tracks and mixing?! I saw that you also have the possibility to save scenes for the mix; is that mean that when you open back the project you have a mix down saved for all the projects and relative signal tracks?! :) Thanks you so much! I'm realizing that the center of the studio require flexibility and quality, so maybe A&H Qu series could really be the right mixer! Continue to inspire the world, pure as you make :) cheers!!
eheheh last question for now :) is it possible to create midi tracks, and record audio from synth with this mixer? Es: Create a riff on midi channel and then with the external instruments, is going to record audio from the synth, simple telling the right in of audio to external instruments?!!? :D
Many Many Thanks :) :) :)
Hey dude. ya with Force and live control, You can set up a multi track recording template for audio and midi. You can also control this mixer wirelessly with iOS. You can map faders if you wanted to use your mixer as a midi controller for softsynths There’s pretty much nothing that can’t do. It’s a steep learning curve though so buckle up. It’s taking me a long time
@@OddPilot_ Super interesting!!! :) Thanks to you and your dear patience to let me meditate with professional vision! :) I'll let you listen some sound productions when I'll work on this instrument!! Best Streamers :) Respect!
Dope
Thanks. If you ever need any help with anything hit me up!
Hi Will, Thank you for the video.
How do I route the QU32 to Ableton Live 10 so that I can control the live mix of a live recording that was done?. In other words so that what is reflected on the Ableton is shown at the same time on the QU32... Do I need to be using custom mode on the desk?
Thanks for your help:)
+Devon Hore You are welcome. Thanks for checking out my vid. I’d be glad to help. First You will need to assign as many tracks on your mixer as is in your Ableton session. Example: 16 track project= you will need to assign 16 faders to the USB/STREAM instead of LOCAL settings for each track. If you use tracks # 16-32 then you will assign output source for each audio track in Ableton. Change from MASTER out to 16-32 corresponding to Qu32 track number.
It’s an extremely deep mixer, at least imo so I would grab a copy of the manual online to. I started using mine wirelessly recently. WiFi midi and iPad control is handy
Thanks very much for your response Will.Very helpful.@@OddPilot_
I like this video brother. I wish you success! I would not mind working with you one of these days! I will keep that email address in my mind. I might start getting back into posting videos myself. I have an MPC X, Que 32, MK3, a Jam, and i integrate that with Adobe audition however i'm thinking about getting a X Touch to integrate with my questions 32 do you know the compatibility of them. I'm going to use the Adobe Audition as my daw but i want the X Touch to be my surface controller but i want to make sure i can merge the X Touch with my que 32. I just started this research.
Dj Einstein hmmm I’m not sure about X Touch but it sounds very interesting and I’d love to check out the setup if you get it correct! Thanks for the comment to
@@OddPilot_ i thought about getting a presonus faderport for adobe audition but it seems like the X touch would be the better control surface. I just want to be able to press a button to record instead of always using my mouse lol
Dj Einstein Qu32 sends midi over usb. I have mapped DAW control functions from Qu32 before to my DAW. There are programs that can translate midi cc to things like video editing software and other types of audio tools. It might be a good idea to look into Ableton. Even the intro version
@@OddPilot_ yeah i thought about Ableton or Logic Pro! I just really prefer Adobe Audition and Pro Tools. I have Reason and Studio One but when i'm doing interviews i like Adobe Audition. I just want to be able to touch one button on a control surface and start recording lol
Are you routing direct from MIDI 5pin to the mixer?
No only USB midi, midi over ethernet and Wi-Fi midi.
@@OddPilot_ So you’re running into daw and using separate interface to sync MPC x?
@@thecognac079 no the Mpc is syncing daw. It’s the other way around. The MPC it’s only connected to the computer because at the time we did not have the ability to map direct committee functions like we do now. I had to map the knob to a virtual midi device in Ableton running on an independent channel and applied to the correct cc value For moving the slider. DAW acts like a pass-through. Now you don’t need to do that. I could Plug the USB from the mixer straight into the X and use the Qlink to send straight to mixer. With all the experiments I have done, I have found that there is always a way to do something that cannot be done with firmware. Even the MPC looper is now functioning like a proper looper Now that I have created the video on the topic. Just keep trying things
Hi Will, Im sending you an Email, Liked and Subbed.
