Lyrics: Thorns of Crimson Death
See the plains lie ghastly silent as being frozen in time
A place of distress where evil still lies vigilant enshrined
Years that passed are now centuries and forgotten seem the
Fallen ones
But on lived the memories in the spirits of a battle sons
(Chorus:)
Hear the choirs
Is it the wind that brought back their cries?
Once forged in blood by tragedy
Sharp were the thorns of crimson death
Through the air again our voices whisper
And awake are now your eyes
For too long closed in slumber - but death didn't prove our
Demise
By ages so dark we've been sculptured
As fragments of stories and tales
As we haunt we are endlessly captured
And shrouded in the wind that here wails
(Chorus:)
Hear the choirs
Is it the wind that brought back their cries?
Forged in blood by tragedy
Dark were the thorns of crimson death
By ages so dark we've been sculptured
As fragments of story and tales
By the place that we haunt we are captured - Against
Eternity we can prevail
(Chorus:)
Hear the choirs
Is it the wind that brought back their cries?
Forged in blood by tragedy
Dark were the thorns of crimson death
This is by far one of the best metal songs ever written.
well said dude
Best Black Metal album ever written too.
Yep. Jon was a fucking lunatic, but also a musical genius.
Dissection is One of the
Most Underrated Bands in this Genre. For me One of the Best
Bands and Top Ten in Black Metal.
The Albums " The Somberlaine" and " Storm of the Lights Bane"
are Milestones in History.
The Sumberlaine master piece 🤘🏼
If you think they're underrated...Sacramentum and Vinterland are soooo underrated its tragic
I like how no one can get the debut's name right.
@@mysticsaxophone4181 😂
Also their genre is Melodic Black Metal and THEY are the MOST popular in that particular genre.
I'm really seeing Dissection here :D ? What a great way to start the day guys. Probably the best Melodic Black Metal band and one of the best albums ever
And please more Dissection, try to hear Night's Blood (the live performance from their dvd), it's my favorite song by them and this performance it's really powerful
Agree. Along with Naglfar's Jens Ryden era.
I agree with you, but not with recommending them the live version... I know they were good live, but I dont think a live performance of this type of music is the best way to introduce the song to a person that hears it for the first time.
Studio version is more clean and you can clearly point out and experience all the small details that makes up this great dark and cold atmosphere Dissection is known for.
Oh yeah, that live dvd rebirth of dissection is SO good! Excellent sound quality too.
This is a monument of Melodic Black Metal, in fact, the entire album is. Dissection sets the bar back fucking high in 1993 with The Somberlain and refined their already great sound in 1995 with Storm of the light's bane. So many bands tried to replicate that atmosphere, those kind of melodies after with more or less success. Definitely, a massive entity of Metal.
omg finally a Dissection song...they are such a talented band and way too unknown
All their (3) albums are masterpieces from start to finish, especially the first two and their riffing is just insanely good. Storm of the Lights Bane is like the Follow the Reaper of Melo Black Metal, an album that can turn you into a fan of the genre by itself
I've never been a huge Dissection fan but I have listened to the first 2 albums a bunch, but Reinkaos is fucking boring man. The production is super bad, way to many mid-tempo songs and almost no Black Metal influences at all like the first 2 albums.
@@Krofius I wrote "especially the first two" as kind of a preventive measure against smarks like you...you just can't be satisfied, neither in music nor in other people's opinions, huh?
Reinkaos is not fucking garbage because it's not your cup of tea. I never liked Black Metal and I don't like it now, Dissection introduced me to Melodic Black Metal and I fell in love because there's a huge difference between them. Same with Melodeath vs Death btw.
Reinaos is more melodeath than meloblack...but that's not a problem, that's just a change.
"Fans" like you exist for almost every band I know and it's always the same thing: You want always the same music from a band that developes their style.
CoB, In Flames, Soilwork...so many bands who changed their style and now are being haunted by their "fans" who spread nothing but negativity especially around those who actually enjoy it. It's so lowly and arrogant.
Don't get me wrong, dislike it how ever much you like and if you'd properly express an *opinion* I wouldn't even argue against sharing it.
But that's not what you do. You make "objective" remarks...the production value is low on Reinkaos? GTFO...you're apparantly a more traditional black metal fan. A genre that litteraly has bad/cheap production as an optional stylistic element, I know no other genre except maybe grindcore that has such a rate of intentionally "bad" sounding records. Now that I think of it both Somberlain and Storm Of The Lights Bane sound extremely cheaply produced next to the much better sounding Reinkaos (by just the audio, not the music ofc)
I had the fucking feeling there'd be someone like you coming for me here, I tried to prevent it and 30min later you are my first reply
"It's useless to argue over taste" -said the dog while licking it's ass. Some people like the blackier stuff, some people don't. There's nothing wrong with either.
@Hari Desikachary To clarify, and I agree with literally everything you said, I'm much less mad at him than I am at the general group of people who can be best summarized as "haters". What tipped me off was that he mentioned bad production. A bad production is not something subjective. If he wanted Reinkaos to have the blackmetal-ish raw and old sound then there would've been a million ways to say that in a way that doesn't contradict his point... *if* he even tried to make that point. Because if he meant what he said he'd be objectively wrong.
I agree I was a little too defensive here towards him, but I gave my reason for that and I stand to that. Still no reply from him, maybe I completely misunderstood him and he didn't mean it like that at all, maybe he defines "production" a little differently than what it is.
I'm really a nice person usually and I'm super happy if a confrontation with a "hater" turns into a constructive argument as I always want to know what/how/why people actually feel about things I don't agree with. But for every case like this there are probably 20 cases in which my opinion is dragged through the mud without any arguments and lots of swearing. Dissection's fanbase is *much* less problematic because Reinkaos still has undeniable art within and I can easily understand why people dislike it, but if I do the same thing with Children of Bodom or especially In Flames (since they changed their style completely) there's literally no place on the internet where you could express positive feelings about them and not get flamed by an army of "old school" "fans"
And I don't intend to tolerate that and I will always stand up to my opinion, but thus I also find it very important to distinguish facts from opinions and I'll call it out for whoever doesn't know how to properly argue. The 1 among 20 cases is worth it for me
@@AgeofJP M8 I haven't listened to Dissection in years, I just stated my opinion that I think Reinkaos is bad, and I would argue that most fans of the band thinks it's a weak album. It's not meant in a smartass ''elitist'' way. Melodic Death Metal is my cup of tea, it's mostly what I've listened to for over 10 years, Reinkaos is just a weak album regardless of genre. About the production part, it feels like they were going for a more ''modern sound'' but it sounds very empty in my opinion, rhythm guitars being probably the weakest point imo. Of course it's just my subjective opinions. One of my alltime favorite productions/mixes ever is Gojira - From Mars To Sirius, and I bet there's people who don't like the ''crunchy'' sound at all.
Thanks for that gentlemen, I will definitely have to check some more of these guys out. Have a lovely day.
ey man, I recommend The Somberlain and NIght's Blood, there are my favorite tracks by them
Fun fact: Jari of Wintersun has said that he was extremely inspired by Dissection in the early days, and one can definitely hear the influence when listening to Wintersun's debut. Even the album cover is made by the same guy who did the art for Storm of the Light's bane.
Jari was actually in a Melodic Black Metal band called Arthemesia before he formed Wintersun. Check out their first album, 'Devs Iratvs'. It's one hell of a hidden gem!
@Grishnackh Where did Jari state that? Is it on video somewhere?
@@Shadowsdeity I can't remember, I think it was some old Finnish interview. Jari just listed his influences and he said that Nödtveid was really influencial for his playing
@@ToastedCigar Oh cool I didn't know that. Thanks a lot
@@Shadowsdeity Funnily enough, I just stumbled on the interview again:
www.mixcloud.com/Keimoradio/keimoradio-hevipertti-1-vieraana-jari-m%C3%A4enp%C3%A4%C3%A4-wintersun/
Around 1h 35 minutes they talk about Dissection and he states how Nödtveidt influenced Jari's playing back in the day. He also talks about Emperor and other important bands for him. (it's in Finnish though, but if you are Finnish then it's a long and fun interview for you :D)
Thanks for taking my request!
I have to say, I am kind of surprised the Dad did not know these guys, him being my age and all and into melodic death metal, since Dissection laid the whole blueprint for the genre that is as good as Nodtveidt was a prick. Other great bands were following Dissection's footsteps (check out Unanimated's "Life's Demise", Sacramentum's "Far away from the Sun" or especially Dawn's entire Slaughtersun album for other great sugestions), but their Storm of the Light's Bane album is pretty much "it" and the melodeath equivalent of what Master of Puppets was for thrash or Altars of Madness was for death metal. I mean, if this track floored you, I can't wait to see you guys react to Night's Blood.
"that is as good as Nodtveidt was a prick.". Haha, well said.
Dissection are amazing, I'm actually surprised you guys havent heard them.
Great pick and reminding so much back to the 90's. The whole album "Storm of the Light's bane" is a true musical masterpiece as welll as the first album "The Somberlain".
You should do reaction to more tracks of these albums of Dissection.
DISSECTION!!!!!! Bout time haha, I’ve thrown them out there for over a year! This song is a sinister beautiful masterpiece, but then again, so is every song they released in the 90s. I still highly highly recommend you listen to “Night’s Blood” from this same album - my favorite metal song of all time. Dissection were also a big influence on Wintersun. You can hear it.
I see Dissection, I watch. Great song, but it’s no Unhallowed.
Hell yeah, such a sick track.
I prefer this one.
Unhallowed, Thorns of Crimson Death, Night's Blood and Black Horizons are their best songs.
@@torbenpedersen2869same
I seen Dissection in the title and i was soo excited! Really awesome you guys to review them, one of my favorite bands i listened to from high school especially if your into BM. Lords of Chaos movie based on the book is supposed to be released soon i think its mainly focused on Mayhem but you guys could watch it and give it a review.
This has been, and will always remain, my favourite _Dissection_ song. I vividly remember them playing it live at Wacken in '96 (or was it '99?) very shortly before Jon went to jail for that murder. Jon's vocals absolutely sound like they come from beyond the grave. The whole production (lots of reverb on the drums) is very otherworldly.
Hey guys, that was great!!!
Please react to JOURNEY TO THE END from WINDIR 🙏🏻
Greattings from México! 🇲🇽❤️
One of my favorite obscureish metal bands is probably Manilla Road. They had a pretty unique sound. A song i'd recommend is The Deluge or the Fires of Mars. They had a very scruffy fantasy metal sound that is way thrashier and groovier than most.
Yeeeeaaashhh! Now try “Where Dead Angels Lie” ❤️!!
Gallowbraid - Oaken Halls Of Sorrow
Fuck yeah Gallowbraid - Stone of Remembrance!
This is fucking good...
You guys are going to have to react to Watain one day
Preferably Watain - Malfeitor
One of the most amazing bands of all time. Absolute shame that they were short lived. Check out "Night's Blood" if you get the chance!
I was 17 in 1997. I ordered This album from Nuclear Blast Record’s catalog. The solo on ‘Retribution’ is amazing, still gives me the chills.
Dudes, do Night´s Blood! That track will blow your minds.
Rest In Chaos Jon Nodtveidt
saw the look on the kids face man i felt the same way when i first heard this at 15 years old man lol fuckin epic!!
Storm of the Light's Bane is the greatest metal album ever made. Bought it when it was released back in '95 and it's been my absolute favorite album ever since.
This takes me back!!! Great throwback.....maybe some Fates Warning- Anarchy Divine for the next throwback :-)
My name is Alex too and it makes me proud that a fellow chad Alexander recommended one of the greatest metal songs ever written.
Jon is a genius who created the darkest music to ever exist
Glad I'm fortunate enough to own this Vinyl.
Best music on this damn forsaken planet.
This now available in RUclips BEAST IN BLACK - From Hell With Love (OFFICIAL MUSIC VIDEO)
You could tell these two were totally like HOLY SHIT
am I really seeing Dissection?? Fuck yes!
one of the best albums in existence !!!
Try Nokturnal Mortum - My Dream Islands
or
Nokturnal Mortum - Valkyria(remastered)
Black Metal with the Pink Floyd vibes )
оо, файно💪🏻🇺🇦
One of the best albums ever made.
lejos el mejor disco de black thrash metal de todos los tiempos una joya del metal \m/
One of best songs of any genre ever! Album i grew from teen to man!
Truck testicles are common here in the US too 🤣
Great reaction guys!
Jason Richardson & Luke Holland - Tendinitis !
that dodge ram got me laughing :D
Please!!! MGŁA Exercises in Futility VI.
Hey since you ask for them, just wondering your opinion, what do you think abut mgla having shows cancelled for touring w an openly neo-nazi band?
@@Lucas-gf9uy Mgła isn't a Nazi, Mgła is a total nihilism, than you can suspect Sabaton of it.
Mgła to perfekcja jeśli chodzi o kompozycję, lirykę (czysta poezja) i wykonanie obie gitary i obłędna perkusja. (Mam prośbę do kogoś z Polski, kto dobrze zna angielski aby mu to przetłumaczył bo w google wyjdzie jak zawsze gówno.)
@@Odpowiedz.na.dyrdymalizm i know that their music is all themed nihilistic and such and not nazi at all, but did you see their response to it? its really strange. I dont understand why they cant just openly disavow nazis, but it sadly appears some members might have neo nazi ties just in general. Its not changing how much i love their music, because its all beautiful. But its for sure changing my outlook on them as a band, and if their in the states
it honestly would end up being dangerous for me to even go to a mgla show just because of the possibility of white nationalism, people are fuckin wack here.
Oh yeah guys you should check out more Dissection ! Check out also Dawn of Disease please
thorns of crimson *bass riff* DEATHHHHHHHH
Dissection is a Black Metal band. They are one of the greatest bands ever.
It seems like yesterday when this album came out.
Dissection is great!!! Try some Hypocrisy!!
Favorite Dissection song 🤘🏻
Hi I have seen your videos for my dissection is the perfect band of all time in Black metal since they went beyond ordinary Black metal. It would be good if they knew the bands that were born as parallel projects of some musicians such as the drummer of dissection Tobias kellgren and the band soul reaper I recommend the theme static darkness. And a German band born from the school of dissection called thulcandra the song the second fall. Regards.
It's crazy that Jon wrote up that entire album while he was in prison all in his head. Dude was a freaking genius, Dissection never disappoints me.
Wrong album lol, you're thinking of Reinkaos
He wasn't in prison during this time
You guys are Canadians right? If you want to check out a local band's album with a similar atmosphere to this song, Sorcier des Glaces' The Puressence of Primitive Forests album, with its Tormentor I cover is an absolute must. Appreciate your work, cheers from Québec.
Such a beautiful song...
Infected Rain - Passerby - new video released today :)
react to Dissection - Nights Blood. an absolute masterpiece of a song. Hail Dissection.
Now, Naglfar - I Am Vengeance :D Dissection and Naglfar are my favorite death black melodic bands. Dawn's Slaughter Sun is quite a great one also.
Nights Blood by Dissection
Hello! Thats a killer album. I have it on vinyl. Classic!
DISSECTION YES
I don't usually listen to Dissection, but try Starless Aeon, it's a really badass song!
Best song of the third album imo, pretty much just Gothenburg melodic death sound
The Somberlain...
"Headbangers ball" i can see the beard's color is real.
You should do some Necrophobic! Similar band, and they put out an amazing album last year. One of my albums of the year.
Quo Vadis - On The Shores Of Ithaka
Nice
Ouh yes
Awesome !
Such a great song. Wish that this band was still around. Very talented guys. Too bad Jon killed himself.
Moonspell - Opium
Dissection - Nights Blood.
please react to more Dissection! Best band of all time with Sacramentum
The dad's accent is interesting, thick, and I like it. Can anyone tell me what accent I am hearing?

Seeing as you're joking about Satanism I look forward to hearing other religions being mocked. RIH Jon
I fully agree, they are in a way mocking the band and its music, by wierdly dancing and making fun of the lyrics and their inspirations, again, i would want them to either take it seriously or fuck off.

You should check the album Ancient God of Evil from Unanimated! Great album, for me even better than Dissection...
Great fucking album! So underrated. Just like Desultory into eternity
Dissection - Maha Kali is also a fantastic song. The dude behind Dissection had some major problems, but he was damn good at making music
Really? What kind of problems did he have?
Micke Niklasson he was a true satanist, murdered, and killed himself in a ritual suicide
He attended a music school.
Finally Dissection - take a try on the reinkaos record.

Jon was a bad person. But a great musician!
Tell me it is joke. How someone can be metalhead and do not know this song and band...
Dissection is satanic band!
