Hey I got a tip for you! Adding a light switch to the zombie room would prevent creepers from spawning while you're gone, but turn off the light when you are killing zombies, obviously for the spawner to work. Have a good day!
You can place water in the corner of the killing room to prevent other mobs from spawning since its a spawner, you can also using water create it so you can only see their feet that way they cant kill you or you cant fall in the room.
