I think the gist of the narrative is that there are actors in the real sense who not only hide their secrets but even compromise on moral issues. Only when faced with issues harming their ego do they seem to absorb lessons, or else they follow the trend of epicureanism to the core. If what is narrated is true, it is a sad revelation that the only actor in Indian films had prejudices equal to the stature he commanded. For this sole figure we are prepared to forgive and forget just because the artist in him exceeded all bounds. It just goes to show that after all we are all made of flesh and blood and the greater you are the biggest the fall: of epic proportions. Thank you for narrating this intricate story.

Mughal E Azam was mainly popular because of 1) Excellent sets never shown earlier and later 2) The best music appropriate for every given situation 3) Best songs 4) Excellent acting of legend of legends Pruthviraj Kapoor, Durga khote & Murad 5) Venus of Indian cinema Madhubala and excellent role played as vamp by Nigar Sultana 6) Fashion and ornaments of both Madhubala and Nigar Sultana, good supporting role of Ajit and Sheela Dalaya (Suraiya)t 7) Excellent dialogues. 8) Excellent dances by Gopi krishna. 9) The most back bone of this movie was the unlimited financial support by Shapoorji Pallonji group (A well known & top industrialist while making original as well as coloured version ) without which it was next to impossible to create such a historical movie of such a good quality. Acting of Dilip Kumar was also good but claim that whole movie was popular only because of DK will be too much. DK was lucky to work in such movie. Earlier the none of these actors were considered for movie but different set of people but everything changed after the sad demise of actor Chandramohan. K. Asif sahab was related to Dilip Kumar so no surprise that he is in that movie.
Agree with all the points. But Anarkali which was produced much before this has great ensemble of music and melodious songs. Storyline was also fluid and doesnot seem to stuck at one place whereas Mughal E Azam is bit slow paced. No doubt sets are grand in it. Pradeep Kumar and Bina Rai graced in the lead role of this Filmistan production.

The film which was started by K . Asif with Suraiyya and Dilip Kumar, it’s name was Janwar not Hulchal .
The hero of the film is not Dalip Saab but Prithviraj Kapoor. The film was called Mughal-E-Azam, not Salim-E-Azam. There is a story from K Asif, that Dalip Kumar complained to K Asif for not getting proper attention. K Asif bluntly told Dalip Kumar that the film is called " Mughal- E- Azam and not Salim-E-Azam". Dalip Kumar was a great actor but in Mughal-e Azam it was great Prithviraj Kapoor and Madhubala who carried the film and made it into a classic.
I agree. I never liked DK's acting in this film. He is stone faced in most of the scenes.
