We’ll see. The shark guy from YCS Sydney was wholesome but he did build his deck the night before and was the only one in the room who had any idea what his cards did so that definitely helped him and he’s just a good player. Maybe it’ll be good we’ll find out
The armored engine is quite good and having searchable equip spells and monsters is what the deck was missing. Is it suddenly S Tier, no but it’s better with these cards for sure.

I wish Josh took more time looking at these cards and revisited old Shark & Xyz Armor cards. I love it when he reviews cards and goes back at older cards and tries to figure out the grander purpose of the support. For this one, I feel like he took the cards at face value.
Not to say that the cards are secretly broken, idk that either, but I’ve seen Josh in the past look at a card effect and go “okay, why does it do that?” then research the backlog of the archetype and find out why. It feels like he didnt do that on this one. I wouldve liked him to look back at the Xyz Armor stuff and try to connect a synergy, or look at the Level 2 mills he was alluding to in the Toad portion. He could even talk about how there could be cool Spell cards in the history of yugioh to discard /for benefit/ during the C32 part which I think is a huge oversight from a Runick player that otherwise always tries to find Hugin discard synergies.
He made the same mistake when judging the ice barrier cards as well. He does this way too often sadly

To be fair, sharks in particular have only resources to work as a spam until you run out, and "let's hope I see buzzsaw" kind of gameplay, at least I feel it that way. Half of our deck is just convinient water level four special summon extenders... So there's not much background to look to. I do think he missed the point of some of the cards tho, I agree with you in that. Nevertheless, I'm just happy that we're getting this, I don't expect sharks to be meta, although it'd be cool. I still can come near the top of my local, or even get in, as many other players, we play under the radar with the current state of the deck 😈 plus yesterday a new couple more cards were revealed, and the seventh tachyon one makes the new Big Jaws a one card combo, which is exactly what we needed!!! Our 2 cards-four interrupts line is gonna blast now. Sharks best deck!!!

XYZ Remora is searchable soul charge. This new support allows you to resolve Remora's second effect with just 1 Buzzsaw OR 1 Big Jaws. We're talking real 1 card combos now. A single copy of Buzzsaw Shark can end on Toad, Virtue Stream, Kragen, and Abyss Dweller because of this support.
And as you said, Seventh Tachyon pretty much solves the decks consistency issues because it's searchable by Seventh Ascension. i.e. we just added 9 copies of Big Jaws to our decks.
Fun fact: With the help of Abyss Shark and equipping Armored Fortress with the Full Armored Xyz grave effect, the new C32 can hit for a whopping 22400 damage through a board in a single attack

I believe abyss shark only doubles the first attack's battle damage, but with fortress it's being double doubled, so i think it's "only" about 15k

Woke up today and decided to personally attack shark players that’s crazy
Can't wait for sharks to top and then call it ocg ignorance.
Josh has never touched a Shark card so i wont begrudge him because without intimate knowledge of how the deck functions or what the other cards do (like Buzzsaw Shark which is a 1 card starter) these cards dont seem all that good, but they definitely are.
The only two of these you definitely dont play is the second trap and maybe aqua jet. but even then they have decent effects, they just aren't easily searchable and a little bit bricky
These cards arent necessarily cracked, but Sharks are already an okay archetype and they make better use of the Xyz Armor package than almost any other, they only really needed a few decent cards
With the new searcher Seventh Tachyon these cards did get a whole lot better.
Oh yeah, a neg 1 searcher that makes you lose to droll. Sounds good to me.

Watapon and Blackwing Breeze the Zephyr aren't quite the same as Poplar. Yes, they summon themselves from deck to hand, but Poplar, Genroku, Cloudragon, and Drake Shark summon themselves when put in the hand from grave or banish, too.

A level 4 fish "Aloof Lupine" that banishes 1 fish for cost from the deck and the second one for effect, maybe?
Josh misunderstood the levirtue dragon. It can detach a card from ANY XYZ monster on the field in order to add a card from grave.
This means when you use bahamut to summon levirtue, you can use levirtue to detach a material from bahamut in order to recycle from grave. That card is easy plus 2, practically always.
It looks like he doesn't know this archetype and some interactions really well. The fact that levirtue dragon makes buzzsaw a one card combo that searches new surfacing big Jaws that can ss itself, literary opens another dimension of plays for this deck.
Hope that one day, he actually dives deep in this archetype and what it can do.
I feel like this is pretty standard for Josh. Once he thinks a card isn't tier 1, he completely forgets about it until it reveals meta relevance. Which makes sense, it's not really worth taking up mental space if they aren't relevant. On the other hand, I agree it's a little disappointing that he doesn't remember some cards exist.

It's even better than that because it's not just any card you add back. Buzzsaw summons Big Jaws, so the card you're adding back to hand... is Big Jaws. Big Jaws searches Abyss Shark. Abyss Shark searches XYZ Remora and you already have 2 fish in GY. The snowball potential of 1 Buzzsaw Shark is now comparable to Snake-Eyes Ash.
ngl i do like the design of the cards, especially the reincarnate unveil mail, which returns itself to the hand to be discarded for the new c32

As a Master Duel only player, Levirtue Dragon looks like it will become the new go-to Bahamut Shark summon instead of Xyz Armor Torpedo?
I was hoping this set would be Mermail support but who knows maybe if it’s the year of water support we might get some in the future.
I think it’s still quite possible, I think this set is a callback to Abyss Rising, including the cover card for that set, Shark Drake Weiss. But that’s also where Mermail debuted, so I’m hopeful we get both in this set.

Something else I noticed about White Woods is they need a way to negate Nibiru. The Fiendsmith package can do that. However your main line of play summons 5 monsters to make Fiendess. I mean what it can do isn't bad but it can't do anything by itself yet.
These shark cards were pretty good when I tried them out. There’s also another card called Seventh Tachyon and it actually helps sharks a lot more and makes the surfacing aqua jet spell card more useful.
Yeah I think Josh is really out of the loop on this one and clearly has no knowledge of the shark cards and their lines This support is very strong and make more consistent XYZ summons

The new Seventh Tachyon searches Big Jaws, and it's searchable with Ascension. That engine functions very similar to Diabellstar in that it gets your entire engine started without a normal summon.

I find it funny that everybody first thinks these cards are garbage, but honestly once you get into combos you figure out that they actually do a lot for the deck in both consistency and power. Even the new c32, you don´t summon it with shark drake but with the barian rank up spell searchable by ascension. Best 2 cards by far are big jaws and levirtue dragon though, theyre both busted.

Xyz Poseidon Splash *is* technically searchable off of Astraltopia, which makes me wonder if Utopia Sharks is playable, you just get Poseidon Splash off of Alembertian and you have like a one-card line into Dragonar, it's definitely less explosive than Onomats as a Rank 4 engine, but it seems more consistent than open like a 2.5 card combo

I would love to see a better version of silent honor dark. I know we have full armor dark Lancer but I would like to have a version of silent honor dark where he has the same effects but this time he’s a quick effect and a negate.

outside of the two main deck monsters and the rank 3, all of the cards there are unplayable
The cards arent necessary bad, they are made for ocg where theres no toad so ofc in tcg there are better options in extra deck, but overall they fixes lot of problems of the deck, also they got the new barian rota which is HUGE.

Shark Drake Leviathan is a good 1 of. On the other hand though you can just make Bahamat to special summon Toad, play past 5 summons with Toads help, make another Bahamat special summon another Toad, and do the Draco Future play. The main issue with that idea is if Bahamat Shark gets negated your turn is over. So I think the future of Sharks isn't Leviathan. They need a version of Toadally Awesome thats specific to Fish or just Sharks somehow thats at least a Photon Lord that for 2 lv.3s, 4s, or 5s allow you to do what Bahamat into Toad does without making Bahamat first. Then the deck can actually mean something. Like this What I've been saying. People say Nibiru isn't a problem. However Nibiru creates Otks inside decks like Kashtira and keeps powerful decks like Sharks from being good. If Nibiru was banned Sharks could still end on a Toad or 2 and Draco Future and they would still be susceptible to cards like Dark Ruler No More because Nibiru doesn't give a token for every card you lost and can only be put in defense position. Nibiru makes a lot future archetypes, old archetypes, and old archetypes that get new support incredibly bad. Just look pure White Woods they need 5 summons to make Fiendess. Nibiru is placing to high a limit on game design and its a real shame that cool decks wind up being really bad because Nibiru isn't banned. White Woods can't be good by themselves yet and they have to be combined with Centurion, Spright, or Runick. It would be amazing if unique decks like White Woods could be good right away without having to be paired with something else. If you notice how often decks get what they need to fight Nibiru even experienced Yugioh players like Josh and Jesse Kotton would have to admit how bad Nibiru is for the game. Despite the reason of making money Konami made Baronne because they saw this problem and when they saw how Baronne made the game worse instead of better they got rid of it. Why don't admit that Nibiru is almost as bad as Shifter for the game. Some limitations on game design are needed but this is the perfect example of making cards that place to heavy a burden on decks. Would it really be so bad to ban Nibiru and make another version of it that gives more tokens in defense position only as I suggested or printing it with a line of text saying that can't use it same turn you use another hand trap and not the rest of the turn. Hard locked like Branded Fusion. Can you count the number of decks that get support or the number of previously new or coming decks that still hasn't got or didn't get a way to get around Nibiru that doesn't make you play into it the moment you get hand trapped because if you do you might not end on anything or that then dies to 1 hand trap and leaves you unable to play. You see the modern good Yugioh deck can handle at least 2 hand traps and still be able to play the game. As long as Nibiru exists negates making the truth about negates making this or that deck better than the other will continue to persist and continue to limit game design. If people dislike negates that much then why don't people want the card thats limiting game design to that extent gone to. If people want Nibiru to keep on existing they are only asking for negates to continue being made. I'm not saying that if Nibiru is banned that Konami will stop making negates. But what I am saying is that if its gone they may not need to or in the very least it would be limited to 1 in archetype card like Arvata or 1 in archetype extra deck monster. If the best decks in the game aren't always decks that vomit out a ton of negates formats where decks like pure White Woods can exist without those decks needing more than hand traps or board breakers to do it. A lot of the games problems come what Konami isn't doing that needs to happen and isn't happening or thats taking to long to happen. People will wait for support that makes their deck good by dealing with Nibiru and when they don't get especially when they have gotten cards thrown at them as much as sharks and fish has their only feeling or response is wtf Konami where are the cards we need. If Konami won't address certain problematic cards by giving decks ways to deal with them then they should deal with them by banning them.

Snake-Eyes might be overtuned but the most broken part seems to be their follow-up.
Limiting all their cards takes care of that.
I suppose, not _all_ their cards would need to be limited: Poplar (maybe also the Field spell) might be fine at more than that, as well as Snake-Eyes Diabellstarr of course.
After playing the limit 1 festival in MD I can confidently say limiting them won’t do shite.
@@CaliburXL99 Odd, I am basing this suggestion precisely on my experiences in that same event.
No deck is at full power there, as far as I'm aware, and against one opponent my Branded build could play through both the Snake-Eyes part of the deck as well as the Rescu-ACE setup that followed, once I got rid of the Field spell which left their Flamberge Dragon stranded in their backrow.
The Promethean Princess in particular felt relatively managable without the follow-up Snake-Eyes has otherwise. One targeted destruction every turn was no match for Branded Regained.
Maybe the second part of my comment was too generous. Consider it a compromise with Konami who still need to sell new cards.
Yeah no, they can still have follow-up when limited. Oak, Flamberge and OSS are just that broken for follow-up. SE endboard and follow-up are basically the same thing so if you actually want to hit their follow-up you need to hit their endboard
@@yunfanji I do not mean that limiting all their cards deprives them of _any_ follow-up - that would take banning OSS outright, since it can fetch any Level 1 Fire; probably also Wanted - but that the follow-up they have left after their endboard has been adressed is significantly weaker under these conditions.
Decks having follow-up is good. The problem is only that follow-up being too strong relative to how easy it is generated.
@@xCorvus7x oh ok, excuse me for misunderstanding. Since I am here I'll say imo that limiting Flamberge + hitting the endboard should be good. Having only one Flamberge heavily hurts their resilience to HTs and hitting the endboard in some capacity is needed. The thing I hate about SE is how generic they are more than anything so I fear they will hit fun cards rather than actually try to design their archetypes.

@@brently18 nah some def did get important changes the rank 3 detaches as an effect now rather than as cost and the equip spell can't be used to chain block anymore because its second effect works differently. These definitely are not just wording changes as they affect mechanics

Konami does not strictly power creep old cards. Now, they will _effectively_ power creep the shit out of the game, and that disconnect is where problems arise.

BA currently has a home in Unchained as disruption pieces (Scarm is carrying modern BA). I can live with that until Konami finally gets off their asses and makes new support.

Anyone who thinks this set is named after BA is completely ignorant to how set design works. Every single set we’ve had from GX onwards has had an anime monster cover card theme. Rise of the Duelist onwards has been legacy support cover cards of anime monsters. The pack is named after Abyss Rising / Shark Drake and any BA support that comes (if they do) is coincidental

They got two good cards, the rest are underwhelming.
Hmmm. That was a bad take on the new cards. I would recommend to play the deck before you spread false information about the support. Let's state some facts, shall we?
1) Seventh Tachyon. A MUST 3 in any shark deck. Reveals N101 OR N103 to add to your hand either Nettle (Optional in the deck), Buzzsaw, Remora, Fujou-suru Big Jaws, Drake Shark. You can also include CN101 and CXYZ Nash, to be able to search Abyss Shark or Crystal Shark.
2)Full Armored Utopic Ray Lancer. Should I even begin? Summon over the 2nd bahamut after your use -Remora- by discarding either the Full Armored XYZ trap OR Armored XYZ spell. Battlephase Negate for Tenpai or any deck with BP effects such as Galaxy Eyes since they get such a good support too. Also drops the attack of all your monsters by 500 meaning that Ragnazero is now active. 2nd Attach by detaching 1 material? No problem. An extra attack.
3)Drake Shark. A lot of times if you brick, you may end up with your XYZ monsters and 1 effect fish monster that just did not become an overaly unit. After negating a card with TOAD, you can easily just add back to your hand Drake Shark activating its effect to special summon from hand since it was added expect by drawing. You now have 2 water monsters (LVL4) that can be used for XYZ summon in your opponents turn with the Full Armored XYZ Trap. You can avoid cards as Dark Ruler No More by keeping 2 materials for XYZ in a new chain depending what your opponent is playing. By activating Tachyon, You can add Drake Shark. It will Special itself and in a new chain, if you have Fujou-suru Big Jaws you can go for your full combo by summoning and adding Abyss Shark.
4)Aqua Jet Surface. Normal Spell. Not only lets you summon an extra FISH from your hand, it also let's you summon a Sea Serpent OR Aqua. But how it that usefull? By playing droplet and Barrier Statue of the torrent you have discard power. You can discard any fish or the statue and summon it later on with the spell. OR Even if your starter gets impermed or ashed, you can extend from your hand or GY with that Spell. Now for the spice. You can include Kairyu Shin and 1 SSA II and lock your opponent from summoning. That's spicy but surely a very good addition.
5)Xyz Poseidon Splash. Hmmm nice wipe effect but what happens if your kragen makes everything water? Are you gonna declare water and pop your field too? Yeah, cause the Armored Package lets you equip all your late game monsters with equips preventing them from being destroyed by your own Trap effect. Leave the Toads alone, and equip your strong waters to prevent them from the Xyz Poseidon Splash destruction.
6)Chaos Numbers 32 Kaikouryuu Shark Drake Leviath. I am not gonna attempth to explain why this card is insane. Changes your attack to 0. Negates the effects of 1 monster on the field and piercing? That means if you activate abyss shark, due to the double damage from your number monster battling another monster, your Chaos Numbers 32 Kaikouryuu Shark Drake Leviath will deal double piercing. Basically this new monster is an Ice Barrier in monster. +It attacks twice and gives you discard power.
They may seem mid cards but it solves the biggest problem of the deck. Using random waters from other Archetypes in order to extend. With the new support you can easily search any card you want, giving you extra options to extend even in your opponent's turn. @@nkosiha but none of those decks have cards that said draw 2 without any cost. Imagine a duel against branded and they activate pot of greed, will you ash it ? If you do, good luck stoping branded fusion, if you don't they go +1 for free. What about snake eyes, you ash pot of greed and they activate original sinful spoils and go full combo

@@nkosiha you're talking about branded end phase right ? For example the fusion monsters like Albion in the grave during the end phase right ? If that's what you're talking about then my point is that those advantage happens during the end phase and can be completely stop with ashing branded fusion or bystial the Albion before the end phase, and it required your opponent to spend their resources to set up Albion in grave. Pot of greed literally said draw 2 cards without any set up or cost.

@autobotstarscream765 yeah, it's easy to look at a tournament chart and notice a deck representation over 60% but completely misjudge newly released cards because they still haven't had tops.
The Mako Pack producing Umi support that was just, establish a Floodgate and a negate, really missed the opportunity along side these concepts to actually give us a potent water deck. Instead it’s more mediocre XYZ strats that still just try and make a Toad.
Umi being a floodgate deck should exclude it from any of sort of discussion of "this could've been good", especially when it has one of the most oppressive one sided floods in the game. It deserves to be bad.
Only like 2 cards of this set are "bad", but people aren't connecting the dots because they magically forgot what Armored Xyz was and that sharks haven't been a standalone archetype in ages.

@@BlackBeartic229 my point was that rather than build 2 seperate water decks that don’t really connect. They could’ve designed the Mako pack to be the initial wave to these new cards, and given them actual formidable threats. You’re riding the copium that these cards are good enough for the archetype, maybe they are. But the poor design decisions by Konami relative to supporting a deck/archetype are as poor as ever. These cards aren’t good, and making a better base of useable support over a year ago would’ve and should’ve been the right way for these to be designed. Not this dog shit.

I'm not saying this support makes the deck tier 1, but it improves the Armored Xyz strat and gives them not only a new in theme negate and a searchable trap that makes it to where they don't just drop dead to DRNM on their board.
Yall are looking at sharks as what they were when they were rogue years ago and not what they are now. Aka a hybrid of shark and armored xyz.
For what it's worth, I did said there were a few misses here but for the most part for the Shark/Armored Xyz strategy they are fine. Not every bit of support needs to catapult a deck to tier 1. Most actual shark fans are happy with the support.
Besides. I'd rather more tame stuff that might not push it past rogue than some nonsense like Snake Eye again
