Leon also made pop songs but just not having the attention it deserves, and that's okay cause it will find its way out to people's attention, and it takes time. I know it seems unfair cause other popular artists seem to be slightly easy getting attention they deserve cause of support system they have: labels, stereotype upon good looking woman (you know, pretty face and on on), plus, the message behind "shitty pop" is quite light so people can 'eat' it easily. Léon is a favorite for sure, and "Surround Me" is one of the first ones for me, from her. Visiting this video over the years makes it more nuanced.
