I remember throwing flowers onto the stage at a concert she gave at the San Diego Opera She has been my favorite opera singer since my teens and her humanity just shines forth here A delightful human being as well as a great , profound artist
She has made me love the female operatic voice. I have listened to her Rusaka 50 times and nothing is as beautiful. Thank you Ms. Von Stabe for all the joy you have given me. I have passed that song on to everyone I know.
+mckavitt13 DeLlos Angeles and Von Stade are two of my great musical loves and I love them both for exactly the same reasons so it was very very special for me too to hear Frederica mention Victoria with such affection.
Her recital at the Eastman School Sunday night was magical. Very personal, very intimate. She talked (and sang) about her daughters there, as well. She said Barbra Streisand's "Jenny Rebecca" was the inspiration for her older daughter's name; could not have been more surprised to hear Babs' name come out of her mouth lol.
KASH10043 - Actually, one of the memories she shared that we couldn't include in this video was about singing the "Song to the Moon" in Prague in front of one of her favorite Czech singers. She was terrified to sing a Czech aria in Prague in front of one of her heroes!
And, I think YOU are pretty special! I was STUNNED at what you said about de los Angeles. I consider her singing to be the very worst I've heard. And, I can tell you exactly why. I know she supposedly had a captivating presence on stage. Your singing is so perfect, technically. Why on earth would her sound be one of the greatest things you ever heard? I really am very interested. Maybe I can re-think my evaluation. Thank you, great lady.
Like many singers of her time, Flicka has a unique voice that's instantly recognizable - unlike today's cookie cutter, international voices that all sound the same!
I really like and admire this lady ; she is so natural and sincere and has a delightful sense of humour.

I could listen to her speak all day - she radiates joy. And yes, I saw her in the theater in many of her great roles. A genuine artist.
Very Classy. A Star.
Lovely memories and the way she recalls them brings them to life.

Frederica, I love to see you singing Song to the Moon and Voi che Sapete. Thank you for giving me those minutes of heaven.
What a lovely lady. I still come to tears when I hear her sing the Moon song (Rusalka). Sounds like a wondrous life!
