- Always Board Never Boring caught some footage of the Jungles of Delthrak reveal at the UK Games Expo. Massive spider, big monkey, and two hero classes - 4 minis, dwarves and humans. Also animal allies. Loads of pictures to come on my Instagram:
www.instagram....
Footage is raw. Watch out for my next video when I will be delving into this a bit more and adding some previously unrevealed photographs with information that might not be widely known yet.

Please note. Lots of close up photos are available on my Instagram.
It's a shame the lady seems to know nothing about the product she is showing
I noticed that but what a unveiling ⚔️⚔️
She sounds like someone’s uninterested mum. “All the little characters you can play, all the little figurines…”
Possibly free help?
I Do recall going to a distributor trade show A long long time ago… I used to own a game store. There was a company called Ral Partha miniatures that had a booth, and I went and talk to the sales rep. He had no idea about the miniatures or anything to do with gaming hobbies. He was very much was an older 50ish guy in tie and sports jacket that would’ve been just as happy selling electric toothbrushes. I knew more about his product line than he did.
I also met some of the higher-ups at TSR hobbies…including Lorraine Williams who orchestrated the ousting of Dungeons and dragons creator, Gary Gygax from the company. They were in fairly expensive suits and had a bemused look on their faces as they were “forced “to interact with their clients! They were polite enough, but clueless. I would say, Lorraine Williams had an active dislike for the people at the show.
She was really nice and let people pick up the miniatures. When we asked to see the back of the box she held it up. She did exactly what she needed to do regardless of what she did or didn’t know.
@@AlwaysBoardNeverBoring I had my parents watch my store when I went on vacation. It was a lot like having a grandma and a grandpa there. My customers liked them!
So they finally pulled the trigger on the 5 Body 5 Mind hero - and he doesn't have spells, just skills (one of which only gives 25 extra gold) and restricted to no metal armour - but retains the dwarf disarm trap ability.
I always wanted the 5 / 5 hero to get 6 spells to sit between the Elf and the Wizard.
Can’t wait to see your video about your impressions of what you saw there and hopefully how it played!
Looks like we getting green versions of the dread cultists to. Maybe blight cultists.
And seems to be tokens for small spiders which may be an enemy to,
...whoa! That is ...severely cool!! 😮😊
Hey, I was there for this reveal! You mean I was standing next to you and didn't realise?! I would have shaken your hand and told you how much I love this channel!
Thanks for the kind words. Sorry I missed you!
Awesome, ty for getting the first scoop on the expansion 👍🏻🇺🇸🇮🇱
Thanks for this! RAPTORS!!!
I was literally shoulder to shoulder with you, I was right in front of the counter with the white hoody, wish I knew you was there, would have congratulated you in person for the great channel.
Sorry I missed you.
*BERSERKER* (Male and Female)
Attack Dice: 3
Defend Dice: 2
Body Points: 7
Mind Points: 2
Movement: 2 Red dice
Starting Weapon: Broadsword
*Berserker Skills:*
*Frenzy*
_This skill cannot be used unless you have 3 or fewer Body Points._
As an action, you may make a single, sweeping attack against all monsters adjacent and diagonal to you.
May be used once per quest.
*Retaliation*
_This skill cannot be used unless you have 5 or fewer Body Points._
You may use this skill when you take damage from an adjacent monster. Immediately make an attack against that monster.
May be used once per quest.
*Enrage*
As an action, you may lose up to 2 Body Points to immediately make an attack. Add additional Attack dice equal to the number of Body Points you lose.
May be used once per quest.
I'm guessing he also has a "no metal armour" restriction, otherwise 1 Bodypoint for those 3 skills makes him a "strictly better" Barbarian.
With that restriction there would be an interesting discussion to have between having the better armour or the attack powers.
Does he also have the power of a hidden cannon behind his prosthetic hand, a repeating crossbow and belt full of throwing daggers..? Oh wait that was another Berserk 😂
@@M-E_123 The Knight has similar stats (with swapped values for attack and defense dice), 3 skills as well and on top of tha he has no move penalty for using the Plate Armor.
Pictures of the cards are in my Instagram. Will get card backs if I can.
My man!!! Thank you posting the reveal, I was going nuts looking everywhere at 5am (west coast US time) trying to find anything.
I see some elements that remind me of Crypt of Perpetual Darkness (vine, skull tiles). Of course as always it will be interesting to see how these assets function in context, but I am imagining a lot of interesting gimmicks and fan inspired types of things like Rise of the Dread Moon. Since this is the second all original expansion box from Avalon Hill...
I will try to get more info as they are running demo games over the weekend.
Looks pretty cool. Excited about the raptors and giant spiders.
Wow, thats a sload of minis and cards. Nice!
Proper impressed with the content…. Well worth the money….
Wow, giant gorilla, spider, looks amazing, looks like a statue/ monument as well 😀
It’s a statue and a treasure pile. Better pics on my Instagram.
/rubs hands together
I knew it was a berserker!!!! This looks incredible ☝️😀
Getting explorers and berserkers was a nice surprise. I knew that was a dwarf and a human on the cover art!
@@AlwaysBoardNeverBoring absolutely!!! All I can say is that yesterday was a “meh… kind of day” until I saw this video. This definitely feels different and… a dragon, gorilla, spider, raptors, and… I’m waiting for the close up video ☝️😀
@@TheNorthCafeProject I’m adding close ups to my Instagram and I will try to get more over the weekend.
Great vid.
Oh, that looks gorgeous, can't wait to paint those beasties.
thanks for posting!
Thanks, really appreciate it..
YES GIANT SPIDER
looks very good!
Beserker is 3 attack (starts with Broadsword), 2 defense, 7 Body, 2 Mind - so swaps 1 Body for some skills - possibly there are some armour restrictions too, but can't see anything (just losing one Body for 3 Skills seems like a very good trade if you don't even give up the Broadsword as a starting weapon).
Raptor is move 8.
Spider is called a "Blightcrawler" - Snake is a, far more normally named, Serpent.
Some kind of (magic?) Bracers, an "Embalming" something & maybe a skill related to Traps for theExplorer (can only see "Tra" - or could be "Tre")?
That's about all I can see from the cards.
I’m going to try to get more shots of cards added to my Instagram over the weekend.
Awesome 👏🏼
I’m just about to buy Hero Quest
It’s a great game. Enjoy the adventure.
If they dont do a dwarf expansion im gonna shit
You are probably gonna take a dump anyway, sooner or later.
So it looks like we're getting more skeleton and goblin archers, as well as what looks like a raptor and (possibly) a bear hireling. The berserker seems to be on par with the barbarian for attack, but health of the dwarf. Looks like new dread spells and some sort of plant or fire maybe with the clear plastic? And the "craters"....I wonder if they're mean to be pit traps or some sort of dungeon dressing?
They are running demos all weekend so I will try to keep adding photos to my Instagram.
*EXPLORER* (Male and Female)
*You are the Explorer,*
a tenacious adventurer with a knack for finding that which is hidden. You don't wear metal armor so as to nimbly avoid traps. Like the Dwarf, you're able to disarm traps without the use of a tool kit. When you do so, roll a combat die. If you roll a black shield, you fail; on any other roll result, you succeed.
Attack Dice: 2
Defend Dice: 2
Body Points: 5
Mind Points: 5
Movement: 2 Red Dice
Starting Weapon: Handeaxe
*Explorer Skills*
*Danger Sense*
Once per turn, when you draw a hazard card from the treasure deck, you may return that card to the bottom of the deck and draw a new card.
*Trapsmith*
Once per turn, when you move onto a square adjacent to one or more traps, Zargon must alert you. Zargon does not, however, place trap tiles on the board. The traps are still considered concealed and not triggered.
*Treasure Hunter*
Whenever you draw a card from the treasure deck that rewards you with gold coins, you find an additional 25 gold coins.
Also has the "no metal armour" restriction & retains the Dwarf disarm trap ability.
Those skills are disappointing though - not really what I'd hoped for from the first 5/5 Hero.
Although Trapsmith is a great permanent ability, the other 2 are like barely warmed up Clairvoyance spells from the Wizards of Morcar.
Overall interesting, but the Dwarf still has his place because he has access to the full kit of armour.
Images of cards are on my Instagram and I will be trying to add more over the weekend.
@@M-E_123 Where did you get that information from?
EDIT: Avalon Hill pre-orders website has a picture of the back of the Explorer's card, as pointed out by @AlwaysBoardNeverBoring.
@@carlosbarreto4695 the Hasbro Pulse images. They show the rules text for the Explorer.
@@carlosbarreto4695 Preorders are up and you can see the back of the explorer card in official images.
Im excited!
...and you just can't hide it..?😅
Pre-orders up on Hasbro Pulse UK.
Preorders went live 3pm Friday.
I was there myself well impressed with the minis, green luminous cultists? That spider looks vicious looking forward to your thoughts.
Did not expect the big spider!
Not trying to be mean/negative here, but honestly, she could have gotten a bit more familiar with the contents/terminology in advance (I doubt the serpent is a dragon etc…). Also, seeing a new "Alchemy" category is causing my inner monk nightmares - or - How to NOT streamline a game in 2024: Now we got potions scattered across 3 different decks of cards (treasure, equipment, alchemy). Great job.
Thanks for watching. I think it was the first time she had seen the contents, as they were still sealed. But she was really nice and let us get a good look at everything so I think she did fine.
The alchemy deck was introduced in Rise of the Dread Moon where an alchemy cards was added for all existing potions, and I am glad to see it here. I spoke about alchemy at length in my review for that expansion, and how I hoped they would continue using it. If you have Rise of the Dread Moon you can sift all the potions out of the equipment deck and just use the alchemy deck for potions instead, which is very neat as long as any new potions can be added to that deck. It's exactly what I wanted. Potions still remain in the treasure deck of course, because you never keep those cards anyway.
Didn't know they copied all potions from before into the alchemy deck, that makes a lot of sense! Thanks for the correction! 🙏
great video as always, can you review core space, i believe its from your country
I’m afraid I don’t have a copy at the moment. If I ever get one I will.
Dommage apparemment le thermoformage n'a pas changer
Well damn. That looks cool.
So, 20 new sculpts and 9 old ones (same as in Ogre Horde)?
Less than that. See the back of the box on my Instagram (link in description).
They got some really cool mini's and almost no furniture. Thats nice for a change but again the same sculpts, why do i need 8 cultists. Avalon hill must know that we got the rest of the sets already, nobody buys the starter set and then this without the other expansions...
They always work on the assumption you only have the core set. Means you can jump in on any expansion in any order.
@@AlwaysBoardNeverBoring yes i understand but are the really people who skip all the other expansions to play this one. And they make the quest, maybe just ajust the quests for new monsters ore something. I understand that this is most cost effective, but i rather pay a little bit more for all new mini's.
Please get a photo of the backside of the berserker card, ty 😅
I will try to add more photos to my Instagram over the weekend.
Back when Avalon Hill released the Rise of the Dread Moon expansion, I mentioned that I considered that Avalon Hill made a mistake by making the Barbarian-exclusive potions from The Frozen North (Potion of Battle Rage, Potion of Icy Strength and Potion of Frost Skin) available for every hero (they also made this for the Elf-exclusive potions as well). So they took something from both the Barbarian and the Elf (potion exclusivity) without giving nothing in return. At least the Elf has 8 amazing spells from the Mage of the Mirror expansion.
Now the Berserker seems to be a better Barbarian than the original Barbarian. That sucks, considering that the Barbarian is the most iconic hero (just look at the box art).
Now, I know that The Frozen Horror has some artifacts that are Barbarian-only. But that still doesn't change the fact the Barbarian (and the Elf) lost something. And the Berserker seems a much interesting Barbarian characters _straight out of the box._
What do you think? Am I missing something?
The berserker is different to the barbarian. I have more to say and more photos to show in my next video.
@@AlwaysBoardNeverBoring I couldn't find any picture of the back of the Berserker's card, so unless he has some armor restriction (which I doubt it, unless it's a restriction where he can't use a shield because he's too aggro to bother with shields), he is basically a Barbarian who traded 1 Body Point for 3 skills.
If that's the case, then he looks like he is different in the sense of "better".
I have a photo of the back of the berserker. He has restrictions. It's interesting. I'm being a d*ck and keeping it for the video I am putting together for tomorrow.
@@AlwaysBoardNeverBoring Fair enough.
Oh my goodness
Awesome! Did they mention a release date?
Preorders are already live.
Yes.
What were the Bezerker numbers?
Pictures of the cards are on my Instagram and I will try to add more today.
Dinosaurs!!!!
Including a friendly one! Having Denver as an ally will be fun.
Ty very cool!❤
I see spider webs on the tiles, some cavern / rock tiles - and a rope bridge?
Plus jungle tiles on the first sheet - shame no close ups or shots of the backs.
Going back and pausing - does the second sheet include the Dread Skulls from the Crypt of Perpetual Darkness? If so we could have the grasping vines and / or acid pools on the other side or elsewhere on the card tiles?
Possible the first sheet has Spider tokens on it too - very hard to make out for sure.
Could also be some mutated plants? Man-sized fly traps or things that spray poison gas would be great trap additions.
Good stuff.
Lots of photos on my Instagram.
The Hasbro Pulse pre-orders are up too.
Explorer has the "no metal armour" restriction (and I assume the Beserker might have similar armour restriction) - so there would still be a point in taking the Dwarf & Barbarian even with all these extra skills floating around.
And we get Spider & Snake tokens (and there seems to be a third enemy token type but I can't make out what it is - they all seem to use the same monster card - maybe monkeys if they are each meant to work with one of the 3 "bosses"?
Looks like a very interesting pack.
@@M-E_123 Third enemy tile is for centipedes. You can see them all in the rules I posted on Instagram.
DAMNIT why isnt this out YESTERDAY!! lol
