I love this band, but I’m gonna be honest. Not really diggin this song. The lyrics feel cheesy and forced. I hope they do some slower songs, more like the style of Hopes and Fears and The Iron Sea.
Maybe given time it can grow in you. First time i heard it i didn't like it too, like Tom's debut album. I hope for the same thing as you but i would be happy with catchy songs like this too. However i don't think it's safe to predict something at the moment. It's not uncommon to have the most "modern" song released first.
