Valentine One V1 vs Escort Redline comparison test on a speed tower.

  • Here is a simple comparison on one of those speed towers they like to place alongside the road. I put the Escort Redline up against the Valentine 1. Pardon the dirty window, it was raining earlier in the day. Make sure to watch until the end, both have their own winning areas. If you want more info, go to the Radar Roy youtube channel and his website. He breaks down a ton of detectors in a scientific way and does proper measured tests!

    If this speed sign is still in your area, try it again running only one detector at a time. Running both like this will cause delayed alerts, missed alerts, and false alerts. I've tried it for a quite with the V1/Redline combo and had all those issues. Running two at the same time like this is awesome for comparison videos, but it's terrible for showing off the true capabilities of either detector. BOTH will be affected by the other which then invalidates the results. That's why the best way to do this test is to mount one, make a pass or two, then switch and mount the other in the same spot and make another pass. Interference definitely happens and you gotta look out for it.

      TravelCam1111 sadly as you can tell its one of those ones on a trailer they move around, If I see it again, ill try it out. They usually put one somewhere on that street every few months as the people complain about speeders I guess? haha

      1. never run 2 detectors together
      2. put both detectors straight to the course...I can see redline is about 30 degrees of the straight line.

    Great Test!! I love my V1, had mine since 2001 3.826 firmware. Even after 15 years mine still beats the Redline.

      The latest V1 software eliminates those false K bands you get in those lanes. It should filter them out. Don't feel bad my old V1 gets set off by every damn K band source like cars with radar directional safety mirrors. Lol

    Thanks for taking the time to provide the test. I'd like to see this test with the redline programmed to an XR and band segmentation also in the V1 and one at a time marking locations so no interference can be claimed by either manufacturer :)

    Well done! Recently picked up Uniden LRD950 for $193.....overall performance is more than adequate and I am satisfied with my purchase. Offers enough advanced protection to drive safe and sound. I am sure the V1 and Escort Red line units offer superior quality and performance to my Uniden, the question is do I need a 1000m dive watch to sit in a kiddie pool when a 50-200m WR watch will serve my needs.....for bragging rights, the 1000m, for practicality, the 50m !

    You can't run two Radar Detectors together at the same time. The Valentine 1 will definitely cause interference against the Redline. Run one at a time only! Mark the spot on the road where each detected the radar band, and measure that way. You'll get false readings running both RD's together. There are several articles documenting this.

  • @noreason2701
    @noreason2701 8 лет назад +3

    The valentine is interfering with the redline... This is not a good test. The redline doesn't leak much so it's probably not affecting the v1 a lot, but the v1 is as leaky as a balloon with bullet holes in it.

  • @randyrusk5843
    @randyrusk5843 6 лет назад

    The main issue with this is, the Escort has a higher anti-false reading feature. This is a speed tower. I’ve had both and the Escort is the better package. I liked my V1 better in some aspects but the Escort is the best “all-around”. The Escort blocks false alerts better than the V1. The Escort will detect sooner or just as quick as the V1 on a true Ka band.

    • @samuelpascal7828
      @samuelpascal7828 8 лет назад +8

      +NicheRiding Actually, the curvature of your windshield causes your experiment to be flawed somewhat. Also, if you really want to attempt to create an accurate examination of both radars, statistically you have to place them in the same location and make various observations. Meaning make 1 run through with one radar in one spot, then do it again with the other detector. But you are obviously smarter than me! with your college degree and what not!

  • @fyahman78

    Nice video! If you had to choose between the two, what would be your choice? I own a Beltronics RX65 (S7) model. I use the Volt Meter display mainly for my Z31 Turbo, and SPEC mode so I can see the frequency of threats. I'm considering the Redline or V1 to replace the RX65. I'm sure it's a preference, but in your opinion, would the arrows outweigh the other options the Escort detectors have?

    • @NicheRiding
      @NicheRiding  9 лет назад

      FyahmanZ The arrows are nice yes, but I like the escort more and here is why; the escort its easier to tell what band is being set off. It actually has the letters going off. The V1 has just a dot next to the letter which is printed on the detector itself. I like the way the Escort can also show the frequency as well and show different bands at the same time. Both are amazing though, but with so many new false K bands, you really need to be able to block them out. You can segment both of them to help, but for stores and such I sort of wish I had the 9500 or the Maxx to get rid of the false detections by the build in GPS. Still, for what I need of them, they both are amazing detectors. I think Escort is going to build a detector in the next year or two with arrows in it because the patent is up on the V1 arrows, should be interesting!

    • @VortexRadar
      @VortexRadar 9 лет назад +2

      NicheRiding heh yeah, both are great. Escort has been adamantly anti-arrows for a while, presumably because that was patented and they couldn't do it. Their whole stance is "Why do you need arrows? We have lockouts and filter. If it's real, it beeps, slow down." Now that the patent is up, however, they'd have to take a 180 on their previous stance and engineer an all new platform, both of which they don't necessarily want to do. Thus I don't see them coming out with a detector with arrows, but it sure would be great if they did. :)

    • @DarkRendition
      @DarkRendition 9 лет назад

      FyahmanZ It really depends on what kind of driving do and where you spend most of your time on the road. I spend a lot of time on the highway here in NY, and there are multiple threats, often just a few miles apart, so I chose the V1 for it's sensitivity and the directional arrows.

      Which radar detector is the best you think ,The redline,passport max,or the V1.?????

    • @NicheRiding
      @NicheRiding  9 лет назад

      Alexis Moreno I do a lot of research on that subject myself. If you want the longest distance you want to pick up the Redline or V1. However, the maxx gives you all of those other fancy features that the redline and V1 doesn't have. Its just like the passport I guess you have to make up whats more important. I got a good deal on the redline from a buddy who was upgrading. I like the GPS lockout for false signals that the passport and others use, saves you a lot of errors. I use waze on my phone nonstop though so I generally know where the cops are miles ahead of my radar detectors can even warn me. I think you have a great detector, I wouldn't change it!

    Simple question that is probably a stupid question because there is probably a good reason for it. I don't know which one you had first, but if you had the v1 first (and already knew it was good), what made you purchase the redline instead of another v1? Obviously if you had the redline first (and already knew it was good) what made you purchase a v1 instead of another redline?

      wantsanewvehicle exactly. One of the Z guys sold me the Redline for a decent price the same month my wife had ordered the V1 I asked for Christmas last year. Being that I own more than one car, I couldn't pass up on a top notch radar detector.

      The Z always has the V1 in it and I have the Redline in my Honda or when we take a road trip and I want my detector. The V1 is great but the Redline is easier to read and distinguish which one is going off. I have now since turned off K band on both detectors as they false nonstop with the cars on the road and all the highway patrol in Florida uses Ka band so no need for it anymore.

    I got myself a escort redline, got flashed by a parked police van for going 10 over. How come it did not detect it? The van used something else than a radar?

    • @NicheRiding
      @NicheRiding  9 лет назад

      asdvs wadv I forgot the exact way they have it, they send out almost instant pulses. Unlike actual cops on the side of the road who hold down the button the van only turns it on for a split second when it senses you going by and that's all it needs. Sometimes the signal is so faint that your detector doesn't pick it up. I would run the Waze app on your phone whenever you drive to find out where the police are. I would also go to the ***** youtube page and search his videos on this top, he knows the actual science behind it all.

    • @NicheRiding
      @NicheRiding  9 лет назад +1

      Glenn I would suggest upwards of 90% correct. Still, I have personally seen that 10 to 15% of the time where the police are there on the side of the road with a radar gun and no one had reported them yet and my detector saved me. As you say, the Waze percentage goes down significantly when you leave big populated areas. I wouldn't bet on waze after that and will always keep a good radar detector.

    • @amorton94
      @amorton94 6 лет назад

      I know this is a 3 year old comment, but I figured I'd throw my 2 cents in anyways. Every time I have been pulled over, this weekend being the latest, the police has been on the road driving. Waze doesn't help much with police driving around. Wish I would have bought a detector years ago when I originally looked, would have saved me this $250 ticket...
