Just seen your tutorial and found it very well explained, even my eighty year old brain could take it in. Still a beginner on LNM so not yet understood procedures. Will use you example to familiarise myself. Like the way you explain using the map to create the route will give that a try. Hope you will do more of these basic tutorials! I find G1000 easier to load fligtht plans but need to expand that to other systems. I am hoping that it is possible to get the flight plan to automatically adjust altitude as required and also how to invoke approach(APR).

Very clear explanation, especially outlining a good strategy for combining stars with approaches.

Excellent tutorial for beginners. Personally, I do flight sim since from the Msoft DOS version. Unfortunately, I have a huge gap between 2013 - 2021 (up to today's days), and now I'm back. Cannot live without Flightsim.
However, your step-by-step instruction is a key for those who really want to get into it. Highly can recommend it to everybody who starting now and totally new for flight sim IFR (Instrument Flight Rule). Have fun sim partners!

Little Navmap is an extraordinary application. In this video I found very useful information which is presented in a clear way. A great addition to the somewhat “dry” and huge Little NavMap operating manual. Many thanks!

Thanks for the easy way to understand LNM. I have been struggling until I found your tutorial. I have written up "Bullets" onto a sheet to assist my 80 yr old brain. and finally I'm up up and away. I too, have found some of the MSFS way points a little confusing to locate. But LNM is a wonderful program. Practice makes perfect.

This is really good. I have just been using the program as a live map the whole time. So much more functionality that I never bothered trying to figure out before. Thanks.

Personally I start by making my plan in Skyvector and then I email myself a download for the plan I made then I go in little navmap go to file and import the flight file I made and download!

Nice quick tutorial. btw @ 6:19 it's not a waypoint that you delete. It's just speed and altitude information of your flightplan 100 knots 23000 feet.

Super informative tutorial, exactly what I needed :) Can same planning be used for radios only ? I’m planning to fly DC-6 by PMDG in FS2020, old fashioned radios only :) Excellent for my 62 year old brain :) Well done, keep posting more, say advanced navigation using LNM.

Fantastic video, showing each step really helps! I didn't realise how to set Alt, or that it did it? I've been frustrated lately with LNM freezing when I paused FS20, but found that it's best to pause via the menu and not the pause keyboard key?

Outstanding tutorial. Great job, much appreciated. However, I did a flight plan just as you showed and the first half went well, then MSFS 2020 had a mind of it's own and deviated from the Little Nav Map flight plan to the point where Little Nav Map stopped following as it was so far off of the flight plan. Guess it doesn't have those waypoints in MSFS 2020. It probably skipped about a dozen waypoints then got back onto the LNM plan and finished the flight. The flight was from Rota NAS, Spain to Ramstein AB, Germany. About a 2 1/2 hour flight.

Make sure you select the same navdata-cycle in LNM. MSFS for example uses another default cycle than XP-Plane 11... But you can switch inside LNM.

Does the ATC usually give you the sid and star when you get your clearance or does a pilot request what sid and star they want based on other flights. I always assumed the ATC gave you whatever procedures they wanted as you gathered your clearance, which seems realistic to me. I'd like to upload it to msfs so the clearance reads it to me but to me it should be a mystery what sid I'm getting then I could plan it with this software after they give the Sid ...?

Hey ! What about selecting your aircraft, is there a list of planes already configured ? I'm thinking of the aircraft data and such. Please help or point me in the right direction. Thanks for sharing, Ronnie

So I open little nav map, I create a flight plan and save it. Then I open flight simulator 2020 and on the home screen where you set your origin and destination, I click on the load from computer button and select the flight plan I just saved. But nothing happens in flight simulator. Isn't it supposed to load itself up into flight simulator automatically and into the GPS and autopilot settings? Am I missing a step?

  • @keithhendrickson8522

One problem I have found with the program is that there is no way to load approach transitions, unless I am missing something. You load the STAR, and the approach, but there is never an option for approach transitions. How do you get from the STAR to the approach? Always expect vectors? Go direct to the initial fix and hope there's not a mountain in the way?
