Graham Knight thanks so much for the comment. I love hearing these personal stories from the places I film. Makes it that much more special. Ports away and not just because of the ice cream shop. Thanks so much for watching. - Henry
Thank you so much, this is a lovely walk around beautiful Portsoy. It's around a 500 mile trip from where we live but we've made the journey many times over the past 20 years to stay in this little haven and enjoy taking in the Moray Firth. Such nostalgia, loved it.
That's a good point. The smell of these coastal towns is special. The salt smell of the crashing waves is subtle but wonderful. Thanks for watching and your continued support. -H
@24mins you ask about the fishing traps, they are indeed lobster pots also known as 'creels' in the North of Scotland. Lowered in strings into the sea, marked by a buoy and left for a few days the lobsters crawl into the pots and are trapped, so your guess was quite correct. Enjoyed this walk as well as others around the Moray coast, thanks.
Thought I'd responded to this months ago. Sorry. But thank you so much for the information. Love getting correct information out there. It helps me learn about a place. Thanks - Henry
I'm enjoying your Scottish coastal walks. In the 1660's, my paternal ancestor and his brother emigrated to America from their family farm. It was located close to Turriff, which is 16 miles from Portsoy. It's a picturesque area, but it must have been a difficult existence at that time. Hence the emigration.

Great walk. Just like being back there again. The traps by the harbour are lobster pots. A brae is a hill or steep slope.

Wonderful story and cool family history. That was quite a migration back then and yes, I'm sure it was hard going in Scotland at the time. -H
Great Work my Friend! Always here to support you! I wish you a nice weekend!

Just found this, the town center my great grand parents and family would have known well. They lived on a croft outside of Portsoy.
