Hi all! One BIG thing I forgot to mention in this video that I thought I might’ve, is how nervous I was when I started shooting here. Nervous of being seen taking a photo, confrontation, etc. If you’re in the same boat, I will say it absolutely gets easier over time as you practice and as it starts to feel more normal, you’ll feel more comfortable. I plan to talk more about this in future videos coming on the channel, but just wanted to add this in 🙏🏻
Love it, I own the T7i/800D and a 24mm f/2.8 pancake and it’s my favourite city lens. I’ve used it in my local city of Chester UK a lot. Been watching you pre NYC Jared and nice to see you keeping level headed and not massively flamboyant plus fawning over the newest gear whilst shitting on the older models like most. Respect - keep em coming.
Oh man it’s been my go-to this whole year as well, such a great, underrated combo. Really means a lot to know you’ve been watching this long, thanks so much for your words and support 😌🙏🏻 we gotta use whatever gear works best for us. Really means a lot!
I've been stuck between upgrading from my 800D body, and staying on it for a more while, and your experiences convinced me to keep my camera with me. Great work bro 🙌👍.
You are living the dream . I love the shot of the young ladies head resting on her guys shoulder is has so much emotion . My humble advice is hone your style ,you are great at spotting and capturing emotions good luck looking forward to more of your work..
Nice shots Jared! Congrats on one year. As someone who also moved to NYC in the last couple of years with street photography in mind, I resonated a lot with this video
Howdy again from Texas. The photo " before you go " is one of the better photos I have seen regardless of who took it. I would be extremely proud to be the one who captured that moment in that location. I hope that you truly understand how good that photo is. Thanks for sharing this video and " happy 1st anniversary" and looking forward to many more videos / photos from you.
Agh thats so awesome to hear, truly means a lot. Thank you!! Really was a moment of serendipity like 95% of these moments are, I was happy to be there at the time to capture it. Thanks so much for watching, and being here along for the ride 😌🙏🏻 very excited for the photos, videos, and year ahead
Awesome journey...glad see someone on RUclips not preaching about gear...#teamcanon...love your favs..the subway couple is really cool and dad and daughter one...🎉🎉 congrats on your content and work...love the process and yes layering
Appreciate this man 😌🙏 thank you!! always about the journey and process. Can't wait to share the next couple pov videos, I feel they show more of the layering that I'm working towards
I went to New York last month for the first time and fell in love with it. As a fellow photographer, I appreciate what you are saying. I am strongly considering moving there as well to stretch my artistic abilities
Aghh you caught the bug haha it really is such an incredible place, and the way I thought about it was that if I moved here and didn’t end up liking it, I could always move back. Now that I’ve been here for a year, I don’t see myself leaving anytime soon. If you have the opportunity to make it work, I highly recommend giving it a shot if it’s what you want 🙏🏻 honestly has been the best decision I could’ve made for myself, personally
@@winslow_j I am actually going back this weekend and planning to go back for thanksgiving. By years end I will definitely have a decision. I know my job exists there and pays good. I like hearing people like you talk good about it
@@winslow_j Jared; I am curious about one thing. Living in a small community in the Midwest, carrying a DSLR draws a lot of suspicion especially if people think your pointing the camera at them. Not so much when using a cell phone. Wondering if the people in New York are more easier going when you're carrying a camera? Best Duane
@@duanemcclun9924 that is the first thing I noticed when moving here…because there’s so much going on, you blend in a lot more with a camera. People don’t care as much because they’re so busy going about their day. I’m not sure if you’ve seen it, but I made a video a bit ago about shooting in a small town where you stand out more because I felt the same way shooting in my hometown. I gave a few tips there that might be helpful if you’re interested! 🙏🏻
raw dogging the camera with no strap is devious work. love the vids tho. i shoot on a rebel t5i and i also have the 24mm f2 on the way. i think it'll make documenting life easier. less focus on zoom and more on the moments
@@Arjeee 😂 you can’t really see it in the video but I actually have a wrist strap on it! I used to have the neck strap but swapped it because the wrist felt a lot more compact. You’re exactly right about shooting with that lens, it’s helped me a lot in the process
The 24mm on the aps-c is a 38.4mm equivalent. I rant on the fact is an efs lens and not possible to mount that on any full frame by Canon so I think is not that fair to call it a 24mm.
@@StreetPhotographyChannel thanks for mentioning this. I made a whole video talking about this lens separately and disclosed it in that video but forgot to mention it here.
@@winslow_j thanks to you for your channel that I find to be inspiring. I like the way you propose yourself and the open approach is helpful for the photography community.
The ole pancake lens move. Yes. I'm exactly the same on that regard. I feel like anything bigger and I don't get everything I want to catch. And I also feel a bit more "visible" with a bigger lens.
Exactly!! I love how small and lightweight it is, it really just makes the camera feel like an extension of my hand, and draws the least amount of attention. For sure my favorite right now 🙏🏻
@@thepuppetsstuffsreviews6569 I actually work a full time job! And I work from home, which I’m incredibly grateful for.
