  • This installation is very easy and is very convenient if you do a lot of boondocking. Here is a link to the Sturgistay that I used in the video amzn.to/2RlWx2b

    I have watched like 20+ videos and you’re the only person to indicate which propane tank stays shut (the RV one) and which you open to fill it up (the external one). I was hooked up for 2 days but not able to fill bc I wasn’t sure HOW. Which nozzle to open/keep shut. Huge safety thing! Thank you so much!! My daughter & I won’t be shivering cold another night!

    Very interesting. Would it be ok to open the RVs valve to allow the external tank to somewhat fill the RV's tank? I'm looking for such a cable but want it to go from external tank to RV's fill valve. This way I'm thinking I can somewhat fill my perm tank then close all valves and head to campground.

    Hey Jim, another great video! I did this two or three years ago with my 34-foot "one-bedroom on wheels". I use my coach year-round and have it in the Finger Lakes Region of Western New York where the temperature right now is about 20 degrees. I winterize the pipes and anything to do with water but have a hundred pound tank next to the coach and use that when I'm out there for weekends or what have you. When I travel with it I use the onboard tank and 2 20lb tanks like you showed. Great way to camp in the winter time and or just be able to stay in the same place for longer. Thanks again for the video!

    You should do a segment on the Flame King 1 lb reusable propane bottles w/ refill kit. I have a few of these; never go back to standard disposable bottle and jerry-rigging a bottle refill.

      You might have received a faulty product. It's also possible that you need to add some gas rated Teflon tape to your connections. If you have to return it and get another one just make sure that you don't settle for any kind of leaks whatsoever. Thanks for your comments and happy camping. :-)

    I have a B class Coachman Galleria on a Sprinter chassis. Only the 2.5 Onan Generator uses propane and there is only a fitting to fill the on board propane tank. Any idea on how to use this setup for a 20lb tank?

    Thank you! I need to add an extend-a-stay to my rig as we speak. I was afraid to do it until you showed us in this video. I think even I can handle that. Only issue I have is that my regulator had been leaking (it's a two-stage, I believe it's called) and the replacement I bought was longer than the original one. I don't know how much wiggle room I can manage to put the extend-a-stay into. I'll have to disconnect it and see if it can be moved away from the connector. I am in an RV park right now but don't want to fork over $400 to get set up with a 100# propane tank. That's too much commitment for me. Soon as I get it, I'll want to move on. That's how I'm wired. ;)

    Hi Jim I know when using a kodiak I'll get 37 hours running a fridge but what if I'm running other items together how would I go about figuring out my total potential run time.

    • @fullmoonadventureclub
      @fullmoonadventureclub  5 лет назад +1

      I'm afraid the only real way to now would be to add up all the math. You need to take your amperage and wattage readings and combine everything and subtract it from the amount of energy in the Kodiak which is 1100 Watts. I hope that helps. Take care . Jim

  • @formeraide529

    My class C came with a quick connect already installed for a grill. Could I use it as a point to hook a portable tank to? I assume I would need a regulator on the portable tank since it is connected to the system after the regulator for the onboard tank

    • @fullmoonadventureclub
      @fullmoonadventureclub  4 года назад +1

      That's a very interesting question. I have only ever heard of adding external tanks before the system regulator using a Sturgi stay tee connection. That would be very cool if that's how it worked. I'll do some research on that. Jim

    When you need to take the external tank to be refilled, what do you do? Is it safe to just leave the connector from the MH to the external tank open?

    • @fullmoonadventureclub
      @fullmoonadventureclub  3 года назад

      Yes. You just disconnect the propane tank and put on the new one. There is no leakage. Make sure you have your main tank shutoff valve closed when using the Sturgistay.

    Unless the connection is a compression fitting or has an O-ring, you must use thread sealant. The LP 20# tank hose that you hooked in wasn't a compression fitting and didn't have an O-ring so I would think that needs thread sealant. Hate to see someone's camper blow up because it filled with propane.

      Follow the directions that come with the kit. Use soapy water to check for any leaks. I've never had a problem.

  • @andys623

    So am I understanding correctly? With this device added to your RV, you can REFILL your main (onboard) RV propane tank FROM a portable source such as a common 20lb propane tank? (instead of having to take RV to propane station to refill main (onboard) tank) Or does it ONLY act as a means to add a secondary propane source to feed onboard propane appliances?

    • @fullmoonadventureclub
      @fullmoonadventureclub  5 лет назад +3

      That is a great question and I did address it in the video but perhaps I should have talked about it more in the intro. This will add a secondary tank to your RV it is not designed to refill your onboard propane tank. Although I don't think it would hurt anything if you left your main tank valve open I always recommend that you close your main tank and he's only the external tank that was added. Thank you for the question and happy camping. Jim

    When you use it to run your grill for example (I guess the top one you tightened) do you use the same hose to the grill? On the grill there is typically a larger hand twist as part of the hose going to the grill Also the hose you used to add to the coach's propane seems to have a smaller twist going into the tank than a grill is there some kind of adapter that makes it smaller so you can screw the hose from the coach into it? Thanks:)

    • @fullmoonadventureclub
      @fullmoonadventureclub  5 лет назад

      I would have to dig through my RV and check all the hoses that came with it. But it did come with several hoses with different attachments. So I'm sure one of those is for a grill application. Jim

  • @kristophersullivan543

    What if the extra tank im adding on to already has a regulator on it?

  • @legaleagleandpaws8198
    @legaleagleandpaws8198 5 лет назад +1

    Looked on amazon at the hose.....and grill hose....no need for an adapter.... the larger grill twist like I mentioned its only to help you tighten the hose......lol. But what is the practical difference between a high pressure versus low pressure hose?

    • @fullmoonadventureclub
      @fullmoonadventureclub  5 лет назад

      I think both of the connections on this Are high-pressure. One is a small Inlet for attaching an external propane tank and the other is a large outlet for going to high pressure appliances such as grills Etc. Jim

    So, you have to open up the lines every time you connect this and disconnect it. Wasted gas, bleeding every thing twice, and tools needed.
