Do we need to review the show standards set for Redpolls???

    I think that many birds are just too big these days. Greenies look horrendous loose feather, chest feathers covering their wings. Zebra finches and Budgies are grotesque now. Please let’s not go the same route with Redpolls. I agree with your thoughts.

    My opinion David would be that the beak colour should be a fault here as well. There doesn’t seem any point in aiming to achieve a show winning Redpoll here only to find it you decided to try your bird in Europe that it wouldn’t count and be knocked down because of the colour of its beak. On a wee small bird like the Redpoll the judges probably use the beak colour to thin out what could be a large class. I seen changing the show cages being mentioned as well. I wouldn’t think that so necessary isn’t it about birds rather than the case it’s in.
