  • We showcase the arenas of the Elite Ice Hockey League, the UK's biggest ice hockey league. That's why they call it elite. They don't just call any ice hockey league elite, you have to earn it. Thanks for watching!

    Manchester Storm used to have the largest Ice Hockey arena outside North America, the Manchester Arena, which still holds the record for largest attendance in British Ice Hockey history, over 18,000 to see Manchester Storm v Sheffield Steelers in 1997. Unfortunately the Storm went bankrupt and the Phoenix club that restarted couldn’t afford the rent at the arena.

      What about the Best Hockey Logo competition, as voted for by Post2Post?

    • @egpx
      @egpx Год назад

      @@edwardburek1717 I must have missed that. Was that our old Braehead logo or our current Glasgow one? I’m not keen on the current one which is a Braveheart rip off. The old one, otherwise known as the Hockey Neds, I do like though many thought it was done on the cheap and is a bit amateur. I must add that we have won some silverware, namely a few conference trophies in the seasons where the league was split into conferences. But as for serious silverware, namely league, cup or play off, we’ve seen none and this season will be no different.

    Surreal to be sitting in here in Central Scotland and, on this channel where I learn about exotic and wonderful stadia from all over the world, seeing the Kirkcaldy ice rink.
    Couple of things worth knowing - ice hockey is a very small sport in Scotland, so small in fact that the scores don't even feature in the sports news. The main use for our ice rinks is curling. And Dundee FC's new stadium is planned to be built next to the ice arena there.

      It really pisses me off that hockey is never covered in the media, the overexposure of football plus the old firm made me lose interest in the so called beautiful game.

    • @gordon1545
      @gordon1545 Год назад +3

      @@AllyStrikesBack I love football, obsessed by it really, but I have little interest in the Premier league exactly for the reason you say. I'm lucky that the team I support play in the East of Scotland League so we're insulated from all the nonsense. Ice hockey is a cracking sport and played at a reasonable level in Scotland, it's always surprised me more people don't go to games. You're right, it's the lack of media coverage. Same with basketball.

    Where do Coventry natives like myself go to for premium Swedish horsemeat, now that the Ikea's closed down? Walsall - well, you did ask.
    And since those flat-pack merchants left, the place is still being kept busy. It's now a rudimentary TV studio and rehearsal venue.
    Thanking you very much for showing the Elite League rinks, this league - and hockey in general - needs a hell of a lot more media coverage, because it's a brilliant product. And, as seems to be the case for pretty much every other commenter lately, please do the ECHL arenas next.

    You should do the NIHL National, D1, D2 and SNL rinks. Some teams within these leagues share the same rink/arena and it’s kinda easy to get the teams of the leagues mixed up so let me know and I’ll get the teams together.
    Do note know, most of the rinks are similar to Guildford and Manchester in that they are more rinks than areas and so most if not all the arenas can’t house more than 3k spectators and are leisure centres, but all have their own characteristics 😅.
