Listening to Max respond to the guy that said the game is based on the Oki reminds me of why I like this guy. That guy in chat clearly had a bare-bones understanding of the concept, and instead of flat-out telling him he was wrong, he explained why he disagrees and went on to define what that situation means.
Fighting games have a very 'elitist' fanbase sometimes, often using their own jargon as a method of dissuading others from participating. The fact that Max was so soft about basically telling this guy that he is flat-out wrong speaks volumes about the welcoming attitude he has toward this growing community.

Max against other players is pretty chill, rarely gets upset and is almost always directed at himself.
Max against the AI begins raging the second they block a single attack.

You know, when I was a kid, my dad talked a lot about Samurai Showdown. Used to be his favorite fighting game. He introduced me to these classic fighting games and I think they're awesome

Don't get me wrong, game looks good. But i still feel they need even more budget. This is still not super expensive title and potential is still untapped. But after KOFXIV this looks super good. I hope PC version will come soon enough for me

Has anyone shown Max that one live-action trailer of an SNK mobile-game Trailer were Haomaru is played by, no joke, the same actor who also played Segata Sanshiro and the originall Kamen Rider? Despite what game it promotes the trailer looks amazing.
That trailer was part of a samsho collaboration in the KOF Allstar game

I love the final boss! She's based on a real historical woman (same name), so once you know the gist of her history, her role as the boss makes sense, especially since there's the [REDACTED] tease.
Helpful tip, you can use your weapon flipping technique on the boss and put her in her defenseless state.

Most entertaining fighting games are fun to watch because of the spectacle and the comebacks, the fact that there are so many opportunities for any player to get back up and take a point even at the verge of death.
But with Samurai Shodown, a good fight is just incredibly suspenseful from start to finish. Every mistake can have fatal consequences, and the turnarounds come in the blink of an eye. The heaviness of the animation only increases that. And I love it! It's a one-of-a-kind display of how much fighters can turn into mindgames! Thank SNK for having the balls to do this!
@VideoGamePlayer No, I'm inclined to agree - to an extent.
XRD's RED ENGINE lends itself very well to dynamic shots and stylish presentations. The thing is, it's also very much based around a very flat cel-shading style based around lighting to give proper contrasts to character models.
However, SamSho is more keen on the "heavy ink" style, , using thick outlines and strong shadowlining to buld contrast instead. Im sure the RED ENGINE could handle that, as well, but it might still end up looking a bit flat.
The animations, however, would lose a good bit of the stiffness they have right now, if ArcSys had a hand in development.
That said, I'm very much fine with what SNK delivered, considering their rather low-end budget overall. A really fine piece of fighting game goodness!

I remember me and my dad getting stuck on the final boss of SamSho 2 on Genesis. Just couldn't take them down. Somehow fighting games were one of the few ways we could bond, despite us both being awful at them.

I heard that he isn't part of the timeline, yet.
So who knows, he might be added as a bonus dlc story mode or as part of a character season pass.

Wow, the only remaining original voice actor for this series is Kong Kuwata, aka Geese Howard, aka Genjuro. I thought Charlotte sounded the same, but nope, new VA, same with Nakoruru (their VA's did KoF XIV, and Athena's old/current VA always did Nakoruru, and King's KoF voice actress always did Charlotte's voice in the past.

Shizuka Gozen was one of Yoshitsune Minamoto's concubines. Maybe we'll see Yoshitsune in the game soon? Maybe Benkei too.
EDIT: Oh she even referenced him after you defeat her. Yoshitsune definitely exists in the series.

I was biting my nails when he fought Shizuka because you have to win without Continuing to unlock the "Fin" artwork for the character you used.
Shizuka was really easy when I used Haohmaru, Genjuro and Yashamaru but when I used Ukyo I got merked over and over again, which is wild because Ukyo has been my main in every other Samsho game.
Yash is my main and im having the hardest time fighting this bitch....

I would assume so, seeing as how this franchise borrows heavily from japanese tales, history, and folklore.
I actually think the best way to describe SamSho combat is to say that it's like 2D Dark Souls pvp

The way Shizuka is, you need to be more strategic to beat her since you can't attack her while her kimono is around her, but then things pick up in the second half as she gains her drum and more of the power consuming her. Thank God that she doesn't have as bad of SNK boss syndrome
SamSho series has been one of my fav fighting game series ever. This new SamSho is like a cherry on top of the series, it's great.

The first part of the DLC comes out in August with Rimururu. That is followed by Basara (October), Kazuki (December) and Wan Fu (Early Next Year). As of right now, the Season Pass is free until the 30th.
I do have a question: If you miss with the Ultimate, do you lose it for good or can you do it again until you actually land it?
The weapon flip technique you can try as many times as you want until you hit as long as your rage gauge is full. The Super Special move which for Haomaru is that cinematic sword uppercut can only be done once and its gone for the match hit it or not. The lightning blade which is done after rage explosion gets used up if you hit or not. I hope this answered your question.
This final boss reminds me almost like a Dark Souls or Monster Hunter fight than a fighting game thing.
I wonder if you'll do Ukyo next. He's really cool looking and I'd like to see how you play him.

you can get past yoshitora's super projectile with haomaru's dp mk
well most of all just dont let him hit you with 6 individual moves
