Ya, they handled riri perfectly. They made him annoying enough to really make you enjoy the scenes when anzu beats him up, but likeabke enough to root for him at the end when anzu saves him. They also have great comedic chemistry as they scheme against eachother.
This amime is soo underated. It can honestly stand toe to toe with some of the greats of the romcom genre. Not quite up their with love is war, but about on par with Toradora and a bit above tomochan is a girl. Definitely a banger of a show that deserves a second season.
What I love most is that it doesn't go towards the romantic route, in the end it was about Anzu making friends, not getting a bf as Riri intended. It was nice seeing a portrayal of friendship of sincere care without romance being shoved into your face.
