  • "Wahn! Wahn! Überall Wahn!" from "Die Meistersinger von Nürnberg" ( The Mastersingers of Nuremberg), german opera in three acts. Music and text by Richard Wagner (1813 - 1883).
Alone in his workshop, Sachs ponders last night's riot. "Madness! Madness! Everywhere madness!" (Wahn! Wahn! Überall Wahn!) His attempt to prevent an elopement had ended in shocking violence. Nevertheless, he is resolved to make madness work for him today.
Performers: Herbert von Karajan & Staatskapelle Dresden.
    Hans Sachs: Theo Adam.

Thank you very much for uploading this beautiful moment. Wagner could not be served better than by Theo Adam, Herbert von Karajan, and the Staatskapelle Dresden.
"Wahn, Wahn! Überall Wahn!" is a thought which we would do well to contemplate today as much as in times past.
