The design of the Xenomorph is genius, must be the scariest looking movie monster I have ever seen because it really is so deadly and... alien.
Adding a second inner jaw to the creature is a clever trick for amping up primal fear instincts.
Mouth full of sharp teeth = fear, a second mouth with sharp teeth inside a set of sharp teeth = heart attack.

      I strongly agree, H.R.Giger is truely a genius !

Though the xenomorph is VERY inefficient and a lot of them straight up usually kills their own methods of reproduction, that's it, they're just inefficient.

That's the only problem I have with them

I don't think the films ever suggested the inner jaws are typically anything other than ridgid. Only those in 'Resurrection' demonstrated that, which was more likely due to contamination with human DNA, than anything else. I'd also hesitate at declaring they're withdrawn down the throat, as they could be telescoped back into the head.
Nothing in cinematic canon indicated they definitely consume anything, either (unless one embraces 'Requiem' as canonical, although that one is... Problematic).
I'd suggest it's more hydraulic than pneumatic. Insectoid life uses liquid to pull-push limb functions, instead of muscular, which helps a great deal with exertion of strength. Aliens could use this same method for jointed locomotion, too.

      @ProjectACHERON  5 лет назад +1

Yeah i mean the canon to the alien currently does not include the AVP or Predator properties (thank god) i found information in either the Weyland Yutani report or colonial marines survival Manuel on the working of the pharyngeal jaw and was pretty sure it state the proboscis section could be made to be flaccid. Yes a hydrolic system could be at play hear, they could even use a derivative of their own blood as the in-compressible hydrolic fluid giving their blood just another amazing and very useful purpose in their biological functions.

Compared to the host it spawned from, namely humans, how much stronger, faster, and more durable is the resulting Xenomorph? I would like to hear a measurable analysis, please!

@@ProjectACHERON what I was thinking is questions like; how much can a human spawned Xenomorph bench press compared to its host species, the tensile strength of its exoskeleton, how fast can it run, etc.

One thing about the Alien technical manual I loved was the scientists discussing the Alien. I loved their theory that the acid blood was used like the acid in a battery for energy. It seemed plausible and a good explanation (as a kid at least)

  • @Zeus11Nova13

Are their jaws made out of metal? I saw them bite a predator head while he was wearing a mask in AVP1. Also, Is its tail end metal or some sort of alloy? They are biomechanical, H R Gigers original design and concept art reveal so I think. Do they eat metal? Their blood is acidic, They communicate telepathically, breathe from their back tubes and can sense pheromones in the atmosphere, they can survive at any atmosphere, even at space( The cold, the UV rays, the radiation and the atmospheric pressure) up to some extent, just like tardigrades. Truly magnificent creatures.

I'm not exactly sure what their teeth are composed off but its likely got at least some kinds of metal in them!

A 4th theory that i have is that the alien itself in both its insane strength and its ability to bite and puncture is not through pneumatic's like air but through the extreme pressurization of its acidic blood like,a hydraulic. This would give credence to its ability to bite and rip through just about anything as the creature is essentially pressurized potential stored inside is dense exoskeleton.

The sound effect they use in Alien: Resurrection when the doc was teasing it behind the glass, sounds 100% mechanical. Whatever they used to create that sound effect was most definitely something mechanical or electrically powered. It punches outward and then retracts with quite a distinct sound; watch the scene for yourself!
What's really bugging me though since the start is that theres quite the consensus that at least some aspects of this damn thing are surely mechanical based on its aesthetic... Have we NEVER gotten any type of confirmation or even HINT on this? And HOW? but also, WHY lol; Ive yet to find anyone official or any delete scenes or special features, etc that even touched on the subject.
Also are their comic books that may explain it or?
