- I watched the 1992 film, Ladybugs, starring Rodney Dangerfield, Jonathan Brandis, Ilene Graff, Jackée Harry, Tom Parks, and many others. I know a little bit about soccer (or, as it's rightfully called, football!), so I enjoyed watching this film even though it wasn't up to high quality standard acting wise.

I really like this movie. This and "Sidekicks" were such fun teenage movies!
It was such a shock to find out about Johnathan Brandis. Only 27 year old.
A true shame . Loved him on SeaQuest and the Stephen King's IT mini series.. a real loss.

This movie reminds me of the earlier film, "Just one of the Guys" 1985. But with a girl joining a football {rugby} team. And "Just One of the Girls" 1993, {AKA "Anything for Love"} With the guy becoming a cheerleader.

Location Location Location Fact: The movie was originally going to film in Dallas, Texas in the USA but the location was changed to Denver, Colorado, USA because of concerns about the effects of heat stress on child actors in the American South. The soccer games matches were filmed at three Colorado educational institutions. They were the Kent Denver School, Saint Mary's Academy and the Aurauria Higher Education Center.

This movie is SPECTACULAR. It is easily Top 10 Comedies ever made. The dressing room scene is wet your pants funny. You left out the best scene, when Chester and Beth are looking for houses… “I’ve never seen such beautiful foliage, it looks like all the trees threw up!” THAT IS THE FUNNIEST SCENE EVER FILMED. 31 years later, I still cry with laughter uncontrollably at that scene. Coach Annie and Coach Bull were great characters. I liked your reaction, a little too woke for my tastes, but still nice to see a woman’s reaction to a soccer flick.

Hi Kat. Yes, Matthew has anger issues. He is dealing with being a teenager, in love with Kim, also his parents are divorced, he is dealing with the man interested in his mom. Who knows what is going on with his dad. We do not know. That is why. I work with children. I am very good at figuring out what is going on with them and why.
The Sandlot, Little Giants and the Mighty Ducks are all good movies in the same vein.

Consider adding "Toy Soldiers" to your watching list. It's a 90a action movie about terrorist group taking over an elite boarding school for troubled teen boys. Not the best combination. Sean Astin from Goonies plays the lead. It's a good watch.

Back to School is my favorite Dangerfield movie, with a young Robert Downey Jr. in it as well.

To be fair.. Matthew wasn't alright with Chester when he joined the team. He heard what was being said and despite being shown as angry.. He didn't want his mom hurt. Which is why he interrupted Chester trying to confess that he didn't get the promotion. Which shows Matthew isn't a bad kid .
Yeah, I didn't dislike Matthew at all, he was just doing what he could in a very confusing situation. The only person I truly had a problem with, was Kimberly's father, Chester's boss. He was just an overall asshole!
@@katreacts6843 yes..I guess you don't see it that way when you're younger.. But yeah. He had his worth tied up in his reputation.. which means they did a great job of doing the post 80s soul less yuppie.

"if I'm an @$$hole there's a reason for it... YOU'RE CONTAGIOUS.." LOL.. One of my favorite comebacks ever. This is a B grade comedy.. But dang it.. It's just a fun movie.. Messed up in parts.. Quite a few actually.. but still.. loved Dangerfield and Brandis in this asa kid. Saw it recently and still enjoyed it.
Lots of other kids sports movies in this time.. The Sandlot, Rookie of the Year, Little Big League, Little Giants (love that one), The Mighty Ducks (a classic), Angels in the Outfield, and The Big Green.
The other sad thing is that this movie became reality. Now men can join women's sports and dominate them.
